I just don’t get it, people should get down how they want to get down and that should be the end of it.

Both setups have advantages and disadvantages and sure people on air can raise their car now and again to get over obstacles but is that worse than having an entirely different car to drive daily or turning your coils down at or before a show?

For this weeks Theme Tuesday I contacted the guys at Air Society for a little help hopefully getting a few static fans to at least appreciate what is over on the “dark side”.

If you never been over to Air Society I recommend checking out their forums where a number of cool builds are going down including my friend John’s widebody Mazda 3 which should be on air really soon.

The first time I sent out the order I misread it and as a result a few things were missing, so to make amends I resent the entire order along with some freebies from the mystery box.

Fast forward a few weeks and Takafumi showed his appreciation by sending through some photos from Fitted Fes 1 which took place January 22nd in Nagashima Japan.

Other than my friend Josh (and by association Hoda) I don’t really have any real first hand connection to the automotive scene, or culture, in Japan so I really appreciate Takafumi giving me the opportunity to run his photos here.

Furthermore with the internet currently saturated with coverage from the Tokyo Auto Salon it is really cool to see some photos what could be considered a typical meet in Japan.

I think at this point the people of Japan have modified more vans than North America did in the 1970s.

While I like 70s vans for their nostalgia I think if you take everything into account Japan knows their way around the family hauler.

One of the first photos that caught my eye in Takafumi’s coverage is the absolutely incredible looking e36 at the end of this group of photos.

For no reason in particular I assumed European cars wouldn’t be as popular in Japan as they are here, obviously I was wrong.

Nice Audi in the foreground and looks like something interesting in the background also

That rear fitment is money, and the USAF stickers are a neat detail

Another very nice e46 also with exceptional fitment. Is it just me or do those rear arches look a little wider than stock?

Performance World 2011

God bless the people who take the time to get their car ready for Performance World every year and further bless those who actually drive to and from the show in the terrible weather.

Performance World 2011 was actually the last year the event would be called Performance World  with the show being re-branded as the ‘MegaSpeed Custom Car & Truck Show‘ for 2012.

I have approached the shows new organizers about some class sponsorship so I will keep you guys up to date with what is going on there.

Droptec Show & Shine 2011

April sounds like spring right? Wrong.

This event was cold as hell but luckily Droptec has very loyal following of people willing to brave the cold for their annual show & shine.

Stretch & Poke 2011 #1

The first Stretch & Poke! event of the year was highly anticipated with a lot of people (including myself) using it as a place to debut new setups.

The aggressive fitment crowd in Toronto really stepped their game up this year and S&P helped embrace that by holding an astounding 5 separate events.

Krown Lakeshore Show & Shine

This event which took place the same day as the meet mentioned above and was held by a good friend of mine. The proceeds went to a chairty close to my heart (Sick Kids Foundation) so it was a must attend.

Chris received a lot of support from his own team (Team JH Society) for this show along with the Krown Lakeshore team.

Props to Chris for successfully wearing the show organizer hat in 2011 and all the best for the 2012 show.

Fleetwood Country Cruize In

While at Performance World Lyndsey picked up a flyer this show which took place close to her home town of Dorchester Ontario. From the looks of the flyer I figured the show would be ‘pretty big’ but I had no idea it would be the largest show I would attend in 2011.

Eventually I threw in the towel and put the camera way to just enjoy the show… and some kettle corn.

CSCS Opener 2011

Most people will remember this event for the now (in)famous Subaru roll over but that unfortunate incident aside it was a great season kick off for CSCS.

The warm rain free forecast lead to a packed road course and drag strip as well as record setting attendance numbers.

Liam of Dorimoto had a great day drifitng and just so happens to be building a new drift car right now.

Stretch & Poke! continuing to embark down the ambitious goal of hosting five events in one season managed to rival the attendance of their first meet with this second showing.

They were also cross promoting Import Expo at this show as if I recall it was the weekend after.

Niagara Truck & Tuner Expo

A big shout out to Nine O Five Rides for allowing me to be a part of their first show in 2011. At this event I had a chance to catch up with Erik and Ty at this event as well as members of Southern Ontario’s minitruck community.

I also got a chance to hang out with Steve Wharton of e11even11 photography which is hard to do during the summer months due to his hectic shooting schedule.

Hopefully this event is back for 2012 and we can have a few more ‘lowest’ classes.

Too Fast Custom Car Show

The Powerade Centre held host to a number of events this year the first being the Too Fast Custom Car Show put on by SLC Productions.

I had never been to an SLC show before so I didn’t really know what to expect but the Too Fast show turned out to have a decent line up of both cars and trucks.

Aidan, Sic, James, and Sam all had their vehicles entered in the show and if I recall all took home some hardware.

The 2011 Toronto Honda Indy

If your a motorsport fan in the GTA chances are you have at least checked out one Honda Indy Toronto event.

While I didn’t attend on race day nor did I have a media pass I still made the most of the 25th Anniversary festivities. In addition to checking out the IZOD Indy light cars, Canadian Sport Compact Series cars, and the Ferrari Challenge cars I also got to see a few friends of mine put on a BMX demo for Jagger.

Street Classics July 9th 2011

Not sure if the Indy being in town had anything to do with it but the turn out for the July 19th 2011 Street Classics event was amazing.

Classics, Drag cars, Supercharged Ford GTs, and a General Lee replica were just some of the cars that rounded out the attendance.

If you live near the Queensway Canadian Tire and still have not attended one of these events during the hot months do yourself a favor and swing by.

CSCS 2011 Round II

CSCS made its way to Mosport in Bomanville this year and the great weather and loyal fans went along with it.

The venue switch brought out a few people north of the city who don’t make it out to Cayuga as well as those who would much rather rip the Mosport track a new one over the Cayuga track.

The drifters also competed on the same challenging downhill course that DMCC drivers competed on in 2010 which made things pretty interesting…

Going to end this one here as it is already pretty long but part two will arrive before the year is out!

With snow comes a lot of things that suck: extended travel times, frozen doors, reduced visibility and worst of all salt.

However snow also brings with it some good like drifting (or e brake sliding), snowboarding, and most importantly the return of Winter Wednesdays here on SIE.

For those of you who were not reading last year Winter Wednesday is when I post low cars in snowy conditions every Wednesday there is a snowfall (or remnants of a recent snowfall) here in the GTA.

Today’s photos are not exactly new but don’t worry, winter is just getting started.

If anyone knows the original photo credit of these shots holler as I spotted them on gawa.

From what I understand the poster and his father restore/mod 2002s for a living and sold this one to move on to the next…damn.

Brian’s Eclipse Spyder GT

Before Brian sent in his Eclipse Spyder I can’t recall coming across too many others online.

This generation just didn’t seem to take off like the one before it but Brian saw the potential and has dropped his car on Megan coils, installed Eibach camber bolts, and slapped on a set of 17×10 XXR 527s with 215/40 tires.

This XXR wheel has been very popular in 2011

Lee’s F150

Lee sent in another platform I don’t see much of, a 1995 F150. He has already dropped he truck 5 inches (they come pretty high) and says that next season when he gets new wheels he plans to go lower.

Lee hails from a small Iowa farming town so I am pretty sure his truck raises a few eyebrows.

He says most of the other vehicles in his town are all lifted 4x4s…

Jeremy’s X-Runner

Keeping the outside of the box platform going a little bit more here is Jeremy’s Tacoma X Runner that he picked up after moving on from his b16 swapped CRX.

It sits on 20s has been dropped 4″ in the front and 3″ in the rear. He has also installed a short shifter, CAI, and extensive stereo.

He sent the email awhile back but he did also mention a few future plans….

Colin’s s2000

Colin has been reading for awhile now and actually a friend of John (with the wide body Mazda 3). A few months ago he sent in some photos of his s2000 and the CF front end and bolt on rear flares instantly grabbed my attention.

The photos below are from his most recent shoot with a local photographer before the thermometer went south.

Zend’s 2001 BMW 540i

Zend was actually one of the first people to send in his car via email and is a fellow maxbimmer member.

Before he moves on from this car (which also happens to be his first) to his dream car (a 2003 M5) Zend plans to squeeze as much fun out of his 540i as possible.

A couple of bolt-on under the hood  along with HR coils and 19×8.5 19×10 Linea Corse LeMans wheels make up the current list of modifications, though he is hoping to add a supercharger before things are all said and done.

Sean’s Lancer GTS

Sean lives about 45 minutes from me but I think he could cover the distance much faster than I could because a) my car is wood and b) he has done quite a few performance modifications to his GTS.

The most significant under hood addition would have to be the snail amd Sean informs me that it is first (and only) N/A to turbo converted Lancer GTS in Canada.

The mods list on this car is quite extensive so if you are interested in reading everything that has been done check out his build thread.

Sean's goal was a tasteful, functional, clean car, and it looks like mission accomplished

Spence sent his OEM+ styled touring with a little bit of bad news. After dropping it on KW’s, and adding m6 replica wheels the car was involved in some sort of fiasco involving two teenagers and a deer.

The car didn’t survive, bummer.

Today’s is  slightly tamer borrowing its power plant from an 87 Mazda RX-7.

Another important difference between the two builds lies in the budget. One is unknown and the other was limited to 2010 dollars as that was one of the requirements of the Grass Roots Motorsport Challenge that it was was built for.

Besides a few photos and a short video I can’t really seem to find too much more on this creation, which is a bummer.

So they extended the wheel base a bit...

Then maybe you should give this 97 328is strong consideration because even if it didn’t have an Active auto c30 intercooled and water cooled fully rebuilt super charger setup it would be a steal.

In some cruel twist of fate I was busy every Sunday that they had an event this year, but for the season-ender Charles Spivak was able to make it out and he kindly offered up his coverage for the site.

It looks the event had a great turnout and everyone had a good time shredding tires one last time before either converting their cars to winter status or giving them an off season over haul.

Hopefully next year I will be able to make it out to one of these events, though I will probably come home with some serious rear wheel drive envy… but what else is new?

The use of Vette wheels seems to have slowed down some from late 2009 and 2010 but they still mange to show up in some of the darnedest places.

I think for the next female Theme Tuesday I’ll enlist the help of Jeff Butler from Motor Models for a second time.

A few might make their way to Importfest Montreal but the rest will either be converted back to winter mode, stored, or go under the knife for rebuilds.

With that in mind I made sure to do a few laps of the show and shine Sunday just to make sure I got some photos of some of the more attention grabbing cars.
