The first time I sent out the order I misread it and as a result a few things were missing, so to make amends I resent the entire order along with some freebies from the mystery box.

Fast forward a few weeks and Takafumi showed his appreciation by sending through some photos from Fitted Fes 1 which took place January 22nd in Nagashima Japan.

Other than my friend Josh (and by association Hoda) I don’t really have any real first hand connection to the automotive scene, or culture, in Japan so I really appreciate Takafumi giving me the opportunity to run his photos here.

Furthermore with the internet currently saturated with coverage from the Tokyo Auto Salon it is really cool to see some photos what could be considered a typical meet in Japan.

Vans

I think at this point the people of Japan have modified more vans than North America did in the 1970s.

While I like 70s vans for their nostalgia I think if you take everything into account Japan knows their way around the family hauler.

One of the first photos that caught my eye in Takafumi’s coverage is the absolutely incredible looking e36 at the end of this group of photos.

For no reason in particular I assumed European cars wouldn’t be as popular in Japan as they are here, obviously I was wrong.

That rear fitment is money, and the USAF stickers are a neat detail

Performance World 2011

God bless the people who take the time to get their car ready for Performance World every year and further bless those who actually drive to and from the show in the terrible weather.

Performance World 2011 was actually the last year the event would be called Performance World  with the show being re-branded as the ‘MegaSpeed Custom Car & Truck Show‘ for 2012.

I have approached the shows new organizers about some class sponsorship so I will keep you guys up to date with what is going on there.

Droptec Show & Shine 2011

April sounds like spring right? Wrong.

This event was cold as hell but luckily Droptec has very loyal following of people willing to brave the cold for their annual show & shine.

Stretch & Poke 2011 #1

The first Stretch & Poke! event of the year was highly anticipated with a lot of people (including myself) using it as a place to debut new setups.

The aggressive fitment crowd in Toronto really stepped their game up this year and S&P helped embrace that by holding an astounding 5 separate events.

Krown Lakeshore Show & Shine

This event which took place the same day as the meet mentioned above and was held by a good friend of mine. The proceeds went to a chairty close to my heart (Sick Kids Foundation) so it was a must attend.

Chris received a lot of support from his own team (Team JH Society) for this show along with the Krown Lakeshore team.

Props to Chris for successfully wearing the show organizer hat in 2011 and all the best for the 2012 show.

Fleetwood Country Cruize In

While at Performance World Lyndsey picked up a flyer this show which took place close to her home town of Dorchester Ontario. From the looks of the flyer I figured the show would be ‘pretty big’ but I had no idea it would be the largest show I would attend in 2011.

Eventually I threw in the towel and put the camera way to just enjoy the show… and some kettle corn.

CSCS Opener 2011

Most people will remember this event for the now (in)famous Subaru roll over but that unfortunate incident aside it was a great season kick off for CSCS.

The warm rain free forecast lead to a packed road course and drag strip as well as record setting attendance numbers.

Liam of Dorimoto had a great day drifitng and just so happens to be building a new drift car right now.

Stretch & Poke! continuing to embark down the ambitious goal of hosting five events in one season managed to rival the attendance of their first meet with this second showing.

They were also cross promoting Import Expo at this show as if I recall it was the weekend after.

Sic Ryde stole the show in my eyes for randomly showing up with trunk full of Popeyes chicken!

Niagara Truck & Tuner Expo

A big shout out to Nine O Five Rides for allowing me to be a part of their first show in 2011. At this event I had a chance to catch up with Erik and Ty at this event as well as members of Southern Ontario’s minitruck community.

I also got a chance to hang out with Steve Wharton of e11even11 photography which is hard to do during the summer months due to his hectic shooting schedule.

Hopefully this event is back for 2012 and we can have a few more ‘lowest’ classes.

Too Fast Custom Car Show

The Powerade Centre held host to a number of events this year the first being the Too Fast Custom Car Show put on by SLC Productions.

I had never been to an SLC show before so I didn’t really know what to expect but the Too Fast show turned out to have a decent line up of both cars and trucks.

Aidan, Sic, James, and Sam all had their vehicles entered in the show and if I recall all took home some hardware.

The 2011 Toronto Honda Indy

If your a motorsport fan in the GTA chances are you have at least checked out one Honda Indy Toronto event.

While I didn’t attend on race day nor did I have a media pass I still made the most of the 25th Anniversary festivities. In addition to checking out the IZOD Indy light cars, Canadian Sport Compact Series cars, and the Ferrari Challenge cars I also got to see a few friends of mine put on a BMX demo for Jagger.

Street Classics July 9th 2011

Not sure if the Indy being in town had anything to do with it but the turn out for the July 19th 2011 Street Classics event was amazing.

Classics, Drag cars, Supercharged Ford GTs, and a General Lee replica were just some of the cars that rounded out the attendance.

If you live near the Queensway Canadian Tire and still have not attended one of these events during the hot months do yourself a favor and swing by.

CSCS 2011 Round II

CSCS made its way to Mosport in Bomanville this year and the great weather and loyal fans went along with it.

The venue switch brought out a few people north of the city who don’t make it out to Cayuga as well as those who would much rather rip the Mosport track a new one over the Cayuga track.

The drifters also competed on the same challenging downhill course that DMCC drivers competed on in 2010 which made things pretty interesting…

Going to end this one here as it is already pretty long but part two will arrive before the year is out!

However after clicking through to the shops car domain page I was quite impressed at the work that lay underneath.

While the final products are not be something I would drive I am very impressed at the workmanship behind all of these builds.

To help illustrate my point here are the first photos I saw:

Most of you looking at these photos probably had a similar reaction to my own, the Trans Am looks a bit like K.I.T.T. after a mid life crisis, the Malibu is old meets new in an odd way, and the Elantra Accent is so far away from what Hydundai originally intended that I almost didn’t recognize it.

But looking at some of the progress pictures below its easy to tell that the builder is very capable with a welder and some metal and I know I wouldn’t be upset if this guy offered to teach me a few things about working with metal.

The rear end, front end, sides and wide body on the Accent is actually done with more metal than filler

Even the bumper is entirely made of sheet metal and not fibreglass

The shop has even taken to building what resembles an armoured A-Team Van

As a former technician at a sports store I remember some of the kludged together bikes people would bring in for service so I can somewhat relate to what these installers came across.

The thread was also a great example of what not to do when installing the stereo into my ill fated Blazer.

The other day this thread popped into my head so I took a look back at it to see what was still live, not too much was left but what is still up is classic.

Flashback Friday

Where the heck was Honda Tech this year?  Here’s a throwback to 09, one of the biggest events I had been to at the time.

Sorry this was so late, the day jobs been a bit crazy of late.

This was the day before the big show but that didn’t mean there wasn’t a lot taking place on and off the track for us to check out.

Canadian Touring Car Championship cars were all over the place, along with Ferrari Challenge cars, and Izod Indy light cars. Not to mention the booths, tents, and displays from event sponsors.

I also ran into friends (both automotive friends and BMX friends) and took home a lot of free stuff handed out by the various promotional women working the event.

Good times.

Track shots…

… well not quite track shots because we didn’t have corner or pit passes this year (next year I am going to apply for a media pass). Last time I went to the Indy it was a little easier to get track shots without a pass but this year it required shooting through two fences or scaling a grand stand full of Budweiser fueled soon to be sun stroke riddled fans.

Ferrari Challenge Cars

I will admit I am getting a little numb to street trim Ferraris because I see them fairly often in the area I work parked on the street in front of boutique stores or stuck in traffic.

However at the Indy I was a little more receptive of them because the challenge cars are quite frankly awesome and actually get driven and the street cars at the show are typically well done and presumably owned by real enthusiasts.

Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship

While I don’t watch a lot of racing by any means outside of rally racing touring car racing has always been my favorite kind to watch because the cars remain recognizable to what you would see on the street.

Unfortunately we didn’t see any of these cars on the track while we were there but I did catch a few getting ready for the race later.

After the Indy we came home for a bit, relaxed, had a bbq, then headed over to a Street Classics Cruise In with an incredible turnout. Photos from that should be up Thursday.

This kit made the Pontiac Trans Am look less like a Pontiac and more like a Testerossa. I’ve seen a few kits with this effect (widebody e30, Truxarossa) but never this one.  It looks pretty dated now but was probably a head turner in it’s day.

Not sure what happened but June seemed to leap frog by. Must be the combination of work, car shows, and BMX that have the summer escaping so quickly.

This weekend I will be at the Too Fast Custom Car Show on Sunday which takes place at the  Powerade Center in Brampton.  Spectators are free and competitors will get $5 off registration if you say you heard about it here. I will also be picking up my shirts at this event so it will be the first chance anyone has to get one.

People often say that old American cars don’t handle well and are meant for cruising, or drag racing. While often this can be true, it seems that there are a number of American car owners who are willing to push their creations around the autocross course with reckless abandon.

Something about seeing these loud, over powered, beautiful beasts rip through some pylons is just so right, and I am really diggin’ it right now.

I’ve been told the largest Good Guys event is in Columbus and involves 6000 cars in three days, this means that it’s just been added to the list of car events I have to make it to before I die.

Anyone run a shipping company that runs from Toronto to Columbus? My only requirement is that whatever crate you ship me in has an air hole.

So damn sweet.

My friends brother was lazy and never did a damn thing about that dent, but the owner of this Bonneville isn’t lazy and has dropped this Black Onyx sedan on BBS Super RS’s via custom suspension and updated the front end with BMW e39 headlights.

I’ve gotta say for starting as a  ho hum family sedan this turned into a car that looks pretty clean, I bet you could hide a huge system in the giant trunk as well.

This car gets low via DIY coilovers up front and custom springs out back

While the headlights didn't just drop in they look great now.

This is probably the least car dedicated post to ever appear on Stance Is Everything but don’t worry the next few days will probably have some of the best content to appear on this site so it evens out.

The sights

As much as people say it over and over Vegas really is one of those places you have to visit. I’m not much of a gambler but I enjoy having a beer on the sidewalk and watching people piss their life savings away.

Oh and women if you like women come to Vegas.

Cars and Vehicles

Here are some of the cars and vehicles I saw just out and about on the streets of Vegas and in the Casinos. Nothing compared to what I will see today of course.

I can't recall the last time I saw a Fiero not masquerading as something else

There are a lot of lifted trucks in Vegas

Nice rod cruising the strip, note the truck in the background also

Probably one of the better looking newer Lincolns I have seen in awhile

Alright let’s get into the winners from the S.I.E/Shell V Power ‘You’ve got gas’ contest.

The runner up with the comment that made me laugh the most is: desborough who’s tired of having to cash in at the sperm bank for gas, ya he went there when no one else would. Chopshop is a local VW shop run by a fellow bmx rider Kevin.

The shop cranks out a number of sick V.A.G. cars and I almost forgot I did this Theme Tuesday dedicated to the shop last year, almost.

The turnout was not the largest that I’ve seen but it sure wasn’t the smallest either, and I got to chat with Rod, the owner of the Turbonique Rocket Kart, some more about just how crazy the whole Jet powered vehicle thing was.

No real order to the photos today, just going to post them up as they were on my hard drive after editing.

If I recall this was at least 600hp, but I think more in the 800hp range

When I am at events I try and take photos of things I know my readers will respond too, whether it be women, funny stickers, random nonsense, or random cars.

More often than not when I post an odd car Ollie or Joe are the first to identify it, so I figured I should take some pictures of this car for them and the rest of you out there who are familiar with off beat cars.
