The 12 Auto Blogs Of Christmas

12

I’ve been meaning to compile a list of some of my favorite automotive blogs for awhile now and sadly this idea for the ’12 Auto Blogs of Christmas’ hit me after I could have done it for the twelve days leading up to Christmas. But I decided to not let a little thing like time stop me and went ahead and compiled a list of the 12 auto blogs I visit regularly in no particular order.

EK Hatch’s Blog

I’m not really sure how I originally came across Noah’s blog but chances are pretty good that it was via the blog roll of one of the the other eleven blogs posted today. Noah has a diverse hatch fetish that causes him to post cars that I have heard of or seen before in addition to cars I thought no one else liked.

Noah is also a really down to earth person with a big heart who is using his blog as a way to raise money for someone in neeed. Check out the  Melissa Project and lend a hand if you can it’s a great cause.

Who else but Noah could find a pic of a sick looking Yaris?

Full-Lock

It’s always cool when worlds collide (unless your last name is Costanza) and that’s what happened when I found Full-Lock. Logan and I both ride BMX and love cars, the difference is that unlike me Logan is just as crazy behind the wheel of his car as he is on his bike.

When he’s not sliding his car or blasting airs on his bike you can find Logan writing about awesome cars of all sorts on: Full-Lock.

Slamburglars

Slamburglars is a crazy crew out of Santa Barbara who like their cars low and live by the handbook. A few rules from the handbook should give you an idea of what these guys are about:
1. Shock travel is for bitches.
14. We like our girls how we like our cars, HAMMERED.
29. The home of bad taste and poor geometry.

While not for everyone I dig this crew and their blog.

Up-Shift.net is written by the working class car nut for the working class car nut. Written by a group of authors with years of industry experience Up-Shift is the place to visit for industry news, product reviews, and car recommendations.

In 2010 Up-shift is going to launch on a new platform to match their new content (which can currently be found here), personally I am looking forward to the ask an officer column, who else has that?

Cars X Girl

Meg is a die hard car girl who happens to be married to a car guy, between the two of they they have three cars two of which belong to her and are big followers of the function follows form school of thought.  This doesn’t mean that their cars look bad though, it means is that the cars in their family are equal performers and lookers.

Meg is currently in the middle of a SR20DET swap in her 240 and has promised that when it’s done stance and flush is next on the agenda in the mean time she writes in depth thoughtful posts from her perspective as a female tuner.

The Chronicles

The Chronicles is a big, big, reason why I started my blog. I was jealous of the fun it seems like Joe is having with his. Joe noticed something missing in the automotive blog sphere (a Honda/Acura focused blog) and capitalized on it and I am trying to do the same with a stance/gta based blog.

Being a freelance writer for a few Honda publications also allows Joe to do things like go to SEMA, shoot cover cars, and have a large audience diverse audience willing to listen to him talk about Saved By The bell, lucky.

MotorMavens

MotorMavens is similar to Up-Shift in that it’s written by a collection of car mavens (connoisseurs). The MotorMavens crew sure do get around since their event coverage and featured cars are at a level that which can only I hope to one day achieve.

They also do an excellent job of combing the internet for unique rides to post in their “webmining” category while I check this blog daily I have yet to see any Canadian content, a bit of a bummer, but hey that’s where I come in.

I can relate to Anth in the fact that he’s a guy that just wanted to blog about something he enjoys and the fruits of his labor have paid off since he recently got featured in Performance VW , awesome.

It’s been a long time since I have played any version of Need For Speed but that doesn’t stop me from liking speed hunters. Another combined effort Speed Hunters is similar to Motor Mavens in that it covers “the car culture at large” everything from Rally to Lead Sleds can be found here and if you respect and enjoy the car hobby you will easily lose hours of your day at Speed Hunters. I am hoping to one day be able to contribute to this blog somehow… fingers crossed.

Slamburglars steal the sparks

Well that’s it for the 12 blogs of Christmas but that’s hardly it for my favorite Automotive Blogs, I look for new blogs almost daily since each new blog I find helps make S.I.E. better as each inspires and motivates me differently. So expect another post or two like this in the future as I find new blogs everyday.

Have a safe and happy Holidays and if you have a chance drop by tomorrow, it will be worth it 😉

Readers Rides: Friendly Rivalry

7

Adrian and Will are two friends (and S.I.E. fans) from Tucson, AZ, Adrian whips a slammed Accord while Will pushes the dropped bug on phone dials I posted in one of the first readers rides. The two of them got together to do a photo shoot sent the snaps my way via twitter. When I asked who’s lower it seemed the topic was up for debate between the two but a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone.

So many good things going on in this picture, I dig the sticker the lower sticker cluster

In addition to sick cars both of these guys also have pretty rad flickr accounts (Will: flickr.com/photos/eseph/, Adrian: flickr.com/photos/fundillo/) that are worth a gander.

I noticed via some twitter creeping and it was Will’s Birthday yesterday so happy belated dude.

Thanks for sending in the pics guys, keep me updated on the rides.

Theme Tuesdays: Pics with attitude

5

The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: Pictures with attitude

Today’s theme is inspired by the following picture posted on Speedhunters yesterday:

To me this picture says 'I know you think this is wrong and I don't care'
To me this picture says 'I know you think this is wrong and I don't care'

As soon as I saw this photo I knew that I had a theme for all the cool photos that I had sitting on my hard drive that immediatly stood out to me but I was not sure what capacity to post them in.

All of these photos have great looking cars but what these photos really do is caption the passion and attitude of the car, club, scene or event and cram it down the viewers throat.

Size doesn’t matter

2

I’m not really sure where I came across this Mini but I’m glad I did. This Mini is wears a set of CCW rims and wears them quite well. CCW rims have to be one of the more popular wheel choices of 2009, I’ve seen them on almost everything and I’m not mad at that.

I'm not up on my Mini knowledge but I'm sure there are some aftermarket tricks in that bumper

Indecisive

3

I’ve heard of indecisiveness before but this is pretty crazy. Wicked Mayhem from s10forum.com is a pretty crazy guy who works faster than most people and always has more than one project in the works at any given time. One guarantee with Wicked is that no matter what vehicle he drives it’s not going to stay stock height, but it might be both lowered and lifted during his ownership.

Wicked bought this Blazer to replace his first and promptly lifted it, and mudded it, then get got bored… so he dropped it and notched it. During that time he also went through three or four sets of rims, and an equal amount of stereo setups. Then suddenly he decided he was done and sold it for a profit.

Silvarado

Using the profit from his Blazer he decided to jump into a full size so he picked up a Silverado. This time he started out by immediately slamming the truck as far as it could go without bags. This time his indecisiveness kicked in before he had a chance to go wheel shopping because the truck is now lifted and he swapped out the factory tires for something a little more aggressive.

What I find really odd about all of this is that Wicked Mayhem has a large number of tattoos which you wouldn’t expect from a guy who can’t make his mind up about which way his trucks go. It would seem that his indecisiveness stops with trucks.

I wonder what his tastes in women is like…

WTF Friday: One to make you laugh one to have you guessing

9

Since I’ve got a new batch of stickers made I figured it was worth having another game of ‘WTF kind of car is that?’ this Friday. I’ve also got a funny Gremlin motivational picutre as well just to keep things amusing, it’s Friday after all.

Swing Up Door Gremlin

I can quite honestly say that I have never seen swing up doors on a Gremlin and I am not sure if I ever want to see it again:

I spotted these photos on an old favorite anti-rice.com

WTF kind of car is this?

This car was local to Ontario at one point in time, not sure if it still is, but whoever correctly identifies it in the comments wins a free set of S.I.E. stickers.

The owner seems to know that his car is hard to identify

Bonus!

If you can tell me what car this started as you will win TWO sets of stickers, however since I have no idea what kind of car this started as you will have to prove it.

Site Updates

I am going to be setting up a page on PASnation this weekend to try and get myself a feature in the Performance Auto and Sound print magazine. While I am at it I might also set up a flickr account since I have been loafting on that for quite some time. The flickr would be more active in the summer though so I might keep being lazy…

If you have not already start following me on twitter as well @PerfectStance, I add random photos and commentary on there quite frequently and I am following quite a few interesting people.

Christmas/work/NHL 10 has me slipping a bit with sticker shipping but I will get the latest batch out tonight.

I have not run a feature in a little bit so if you want your ride or photography featured drop me a line at [email protected]

Pat is getting cyrious

3

My drifter friend Pat Cyr has decided that next year is his year to go hard, all this time I thought he was going hard already so now that he says its really time to go hard I am a little worried for the competition. With his new mindset he decided that his trusty AE86 needs a full rebuild and a new heart for this season, lurking on facebook has allowed me to keep track of what he has been up to. Serious things are going down.

It’s no secret among the automotive community that AE86’s are great drift platforms and Pat just further proved this fact by putting his through its paces this year in various drift competitions. His AE most certainly took a licking and for the most part kept ticking.

Winter Wednesdays: Winter Stretch Union Style

1

We haven’t had much in the way of accumulation so far this week but since there was black ice everywhere last night making an average 20 minute highway rip take me over an hour I figured a Winter Wednesday post was justified. This week we have something from UNION Auto Club, ever seen stretched winters tires?

Clearly not a club that believes in winter downtime UNION is at it again. They successfully stretched 215 winter tires over 9.5″ MB battles and threw them on a 240. No winter drift videos yet but I feel quite confident in saying they are coming.

It's actually kind of funny to see winter tires stretched

Theme Tuesdays: Clean Civic EG Hatches

11

The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: EG Hatches

I have Joe from The Chronicles to thank (blame?) for this Tuesdays Theme, he recently did a photo shoot of a pretty unique EG Hatch that got me thinking that EGs would make a good theme, today’s clean Civics are such a nice change from the rice buckets of yore.

Sticker’d

5

As most of you know I did the first free run of 50 stickers not too long ago and the demand for them was much higher than I expected. When I got the first batch done I figured that 40 would go locally and 10 world wide but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Most of the stickers went outside of Canada and into the United States, and one set even went to New Zealand. As I’ve probably said before it’s an awesome feeling knowing that people all over the world are down with this blog and want to help represent it, here are some photos of people doing just that all around the world.

Meg || CarsxGirl

Meg from Cars X Girl was one of the first people to claim a set of stickers and if I recall correctly I sent her four since she has three cars in her two person family and I wanted to make sure she had a few options for all her rides. Since her 240 is currently under the knife for a motor swap she sent photos of her Miata which she drove to rookie of the year honors in her local auto cross club, sick!

Nicholas Heintz’s Corolla

Nicholas sent some pics of his Green Corolla rocking a matching S.I.E. sticker. He’s doing a budget build and it looks like he is off to a great start with this clean base. I love budgets builds as they are far realistic to my wallet than high priced magazine build so hopefully he keeps me (any by association you) updated with the progress, since he already has his stance addressed fitment is next on the bill.

Julian is reppin S.I.E. in  sunny California and since the weather in Toronto recently has dipped solidly below zero I really wish I was in Cali with him. Currently Julian continues to rock stock rims harder than any other car I have seen solidifying the fact that Stance Is Everything. else rock them and he I’m a huge fan of this car and super stoked to see my stickers on his ride. Once he settles on a new set of rims… game over.

New Batch

I’ve had a new batch of stickers run, this time blue has been dropped in favor of gun metal and gold, pink, white, green and black remain.

New batch, New colors!
New batch, New colors!

Since the first round of stickers was on me I have setup a pay pal donation button to cover the cost for the third round of stickers.

My goal is that the money from the url stickers just goes back into more url stickers until I get around to making a few designs that will hopefully fund the production of url stickers entirely then they can go back to being free.

To get a set of the new stickers click the button below and make a donation, once you have made the donation email me with your shipping address, color preference, and the email your donation came from and I will ship out your stickers.

There is no minimum or maximum donation so feel free to do whatever you like, I’m not looking to make a profit I have a job for that.

If the iframe above does not work for you click here to go straight to the donation button.

I’m going to set up a page specifically for ordering stickers soon so once that’s up I will throw the link here and on the homepage.
