Event Coverage: Performance World 2011: Pt. 2

Here is the rest of the Performance World coverage I was hoping to have up yesterday before the day spiraled wildly out of control. There are enough pictures in this post to warrant two but I decided to just get them all up at once instead of having you guys wait even longer. The mini trucks and classics make up most of today's post with a few random images dropped in. If you thought Performance World this year was lacking that just means you didn't spend enough time in the vast section of classics.

Event Coverage: Performance World 2011: Pt. 1

After reading other sites with weather envy all winter it felt pretty good to head out to a local event and get some photos this weekend. A lot of people have said that PW wasn't as good this year in regards to turn out but I think for a show at the end of winter the turnout was pretty good. It takes a lot of dedication to get your car all cleaned up for three days and then drive it back out in the muck right after. This year I've decided to switch things up a bit by posting the more modern Imports, Euros, and American cars first leaving the rat rods, traditional rods, and muscle cars to later.

Yo Rolla

Awhile back I was pointed in the direction of a bunch of well done 9th generation Corrollas by reader KN tee. Once I got through looking at the photos and links he submitted I starred the email with the intentions of getting back to it later. 'Later' quickly turned into forgotten until last night when I was parked behind a 9th gen in traffic and it all came flooding back to me, dive intervention perhaps. Here is one of several Kn sent my way.

Theme Tuesdays: Wekfest favorites 2011

Everyone I've had a chance to chat with via email or twitter says Wekfest 2011 was a crazy this year with lots of cars and even more people. One day, if I'm lucky, perhaps I'll plan a trip around attending one and make a vacation out of the whole deal. Or if I am really lucky someone will fly me out (ya right). Until then I will just have to settle for living vicariously through the lives of the people at The Chronicles, Canibeat, Night-Import, LimestandPhotography, Ivy League East and Oh you speak english.

Winter Wednesdays: Hoarder

Pat Cyr, Dan Cyr, and Drift Possee are awesome. I keep saying this because it continues to be true as evident from today's photos I lifted from Dan's wall. In the winter months Pat tends to do a lot of the following two things: work on his competition car, and slide his winter car, which also happens to be an ae86. When asked on facebook where Pat gets all his AE86's Dan simply replied: "Ever seen the show Hoarders?"

Winter Wednesdays: On the plus side

Today's Winter Wednesday is a bit different than all of the ones I have posted previous. It contains two cars and both get covered in snow and slush, but only one has it's tires set on the ground, the other is just along for the messy ride. The owner of these cars, Zakinen (from SubaruForester.org), is a pretty lucky guy he drives a dropped Subaru Forrester as a daily and on days he's not working he uses it as a tow rig for his ae86 track car.

Nextmod at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2011

According to their website the Tokyo Auto Salon is "the world’s largest auto exhibition with more than 600 vehicles on display". To me that reads as ' SEMA, in Japan, and larger'. While I didn't get to go Peter from Nextmod worked it into his well deserved vacation from the shop and uploaded a ton of photos from the event to Nextmod's facebook fan page. He gave me permission to re post some here for those of you who are not yet fans of theirs on facebook and I jumped at the opportunity.

Crown Deluxe

It's funny how in most cases, regardless of the manufacturer, older cars look cooler than the newer ones. The Toyota Crown is no exception. Later models don't look particularly bad but they lack the uniqueness and character of their older first, second, and third generation siblings. This Crown Deluxe doesn't have much done to it visually other than a significant drop but it's styling is reminiscent of some of the I posted not to long ago, and as we've seen before sometimes less is more.

Theme Tuesdays: Women and Cars

One 'drawback' to compiling the Classy Car Model Theme Tuesdays is that I often end up coming across lots of photos of women with cars that are the standard fare, you know, the scantily clad woman with a nice car type of photo. All of the photos in today's post were chosen because of the car in the photo, the woman in the photo, or the photography, I'll leave it to you guys to speculate in the comments what was the determining factor in each. Sorry in advance ladies, also this one may be NSFW.

Readers Rides: Facebook fans Part 4

The Facebook fan page just surpassed another milestone, 2000 fans, and to celebrate I've decided to do one more readers rides for 2010. As the fan page grows so does the variety of cars posted in the fan photos gallery. Seeing variety is great because it means that I can continue to post all sorts of cars here without worry of losing the collective interests to to speak. Here's the latest from the fan page.

Theme Tuesdays: MKIII Supras

I think the MKIII Supra is slept on. Sure the MK4 that came after was a big success, and yes MKIII's may have had head gasket problems, but I'll be damned if they can't look good in the right hands. The wedge like body shape and pop up headlights are great indicators of the time period the car came from, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Mr. Two takes to the sky

Rally cross looks like fun, I should figure out a way to get out to one probably the only time I will see an MR2 do this. Short post is short
