Theme Tuesdays: Volvo 240s

If Friday’s questionably styled and Toyota motivated Volvo left a bad taste in your mouth you can consider today’s Theme Tuesday as the mouthwash to cleanse the palette.

Like the majority of Theme Tuesday highlights older Volvos are a car that stock very few people (die hard prancing Moose fans aside) would say look ‘good’ in factory trim.

However give them an altitude adjustment, along with a new set of dancing shoes, and suddenly they become a decent looking little –and not so little in the case of wagons– car.

From what I hear they are also dead nuts reliable which is a bonus.

volvo_240_1 — Kick things off nice and simple

volvo_240_2 — I’m pretty sure this photo is at least five years old but the car is still quite nice looking

volvo_240_3 — Some cars look ok on banded steels while others seem made for it, 240s fall in the latter

volvo_240_4a — This looks like an unreasonable amount of fun, which is why I am posting it

volvo_240_10b — Does anyone have anymore photos of this one?

volvo_240_5 — I have a feeling this is an earlier version of a car a bit further down in this post

volvo_240_4 — KISS rule applies…. these Borbet Type E(?) wheels look great tucked

volvo_240_7 — Lots of people miss the mark with flares but this is money

volvo_240_12 — Looks like this car is sporting a cage as well

volvo_240_6 — That rear fitment… amazing

volvo_240_15 — And this would be the completed car from above… (I think)

volvo_240_18 — Close things out with @awful_hero who just recently finished giving his wagon a make over

There is a video series of a guy from Finland who builds crazy turbo Volvo 240. It’s called “Bamses turbo underpants” 🙂

If you like volvos you seriously need to check out the Gatebil Rukdoden festival. Makes these volvos look tame.

The suspected Borbet Type E’s on the light blue 242 are either an OEM Volvo Polaris or Eiker E1’s.

The dark blue 242 that is caged has Kodiak Racing wheels, here is the build thread
