Winter Wednesdays

This week mother nature has pleasantly gifted those of us in Ontario with temperatures in and around +/- 2 degrees, but it is still winter which means there's weeks of complaining on my part yet to come. Chris however just keeps it moving with his Miata that somehow manages to still look good under all that salt and road brine.

I'm sure we all have friends who are so determined that when they say they are going to do something it is as good as done. My friend Darcy Peters is one of those people, so about a year ago when he told me he was going to co drive a rally car I knew it was essentially written in stone.

In Toronto it is currently feels like eighteen degrees below 0 which is actually pretty balmy compared to yesterday's bone chilling low of -24.2°C. It's actually so cold that salt alone can't melt the remnants of recent snow falls, and they've had to use beet juice of all things to keep people from spinning off into guard rails.

On Sunday I had the 3 out in it's first real 'storm' since it's been on air and it honestly took it like a champ. No frozen lines, ride pressure and height stayed consistent, and she was as sure footed as a mountain goat.

The dark days of winter have descended on Ontario marking the beginning of what will undoubtedly be a damn cold off season. A slight silver lining to a season of slush, and vehicle killing salt is that Winter Wednesdays have returned once more. Leading off this season of snowy posts is Work VS-XX equipped Lexus sitting on some fresh powder.

Following up last weeks Winter Wednesday with another local who rides low all year. This daily driver/occasional show car belongs to my friend Shayan who is more than willing to take advantage of Audi's Quattro all wheel drive system as soon as the white stuff starts to fall.

A couple years ago I met a gentleman who lives west of me named Jeff. Whether we met through kids bikes or trucks I can't really remember but since I've known him he has always had fairly interesting, low, vehicles. At the time we met he owned a mostly white first generation s-10 that packed such a punch it twisted itself into oblivion. He followed that up with a turbo Cavalier --which I have posted before-- that gets more insane by the day.

I'm not much of a slush fan. It's dirty, wet, cold, ruins shoes, sucks to slide around in, and generally makes everything a grey soppy mess. Thanks to a fair sized snowfall Monday, and steady increase in temperature to todays high of 14° C, the city of Toronto is currently abundant with the watery slop.
