Featured Ride: Chris Savard’s Lightning

4

Addiction is a funny thing, it drains wallets, consumes time, and changes lives immensely. While most addictions are negative this is not always the case, some addictions are nothing put positive. Chris Savard is an addict, but his vice of choice isn’t snorted, injected, or swallowed, no, the only way his addiction can be quenched is via long nights, hard work, and dedication. Chris Savard is addicted to the build.

Originally from Peterborough Ontario, but currently living in Australia attaining his masters, Chris has been building cars since he got his first fox body Mustang at the age young age of 15. Since then he has owned and worked on over 30 foxes.

Having owned 30 of the same car in such a short period of time is impressive alone, but when you factor in the fact that he has also bought, built, and sold 10 e36s BMWs and 3  Ford SVT Lightnings in that same time period one begins to wonder if Chris ever sleeps and if his projects are fueled by profit gained from other peoples addictions. Chris used this mystery to his advantage and took on the ‘Infamous’ nick name that was eventually bestowed to him. Chris is now getting ready to show the car world just what a true car nut can achieve with his own two hands.

Chris’ currently daily driver of three years (a near record for him) is a Silver 2000 Ford SVT Lighting which he purchased in Chicago after the owner moved there from Arizona. This clean southern platform came with a JDM (this JDM not Japanese Domestic Market) stage 1 performance package already installed.

While the stage 1 package consists of a 4lb lower pulley, upgrade valve body, CAI, and a 90mm maf Chris knew right away that more modifications were in order.

Seems Lightning struck Chris twice
Lightning has not struck Chris twice but 3 times

Chris originally dropped the truck down four inches in the front with two inch drop tubular control arms and matching two inch drop springs, and four inches in the rear via a DJM flip kit and C notch.

However after taking a step back and looking at his freshly dropped ride he realized that he could, and needed to, go lower. He had a set of custom three inch drop springs made and added a two inch drop shackle to the rear to give the truck its final 5/7 drop.

To help make the new ride height livable Chris installed drop shocks on all four corners.

To set off the new drop Chris added custom painted 23″ 3 piece OZ vela rims with 295/30/23 Nitto tires. With such a drastic drop and large wheels some would say that Chris took a perfectly functional truck and made it impractical, however this Lightning is still capable of helping you move and towing water crafts to the lake.

With the suspension and wheel set up squared away Chris decided that the already fast truck needed some more ‘umph‘ when the loud pedal was smashed. This lead to the stock exhaust being ditched in favor of a MAC catback system, and the silencer holes in the blower being filled. Once that was all done the truck received a Royal Purple blood transfusion.

With the wheels, suspension, exterior (via billet grill, tails and 2pc headlights), and motor all being addressed Chris set forth to add his ‘Infamous’ touch to the interior.

Chris made his own suede black head liner in addition to dyeing the rest of interior black. He also swapped out the factory passenger bench seat in exchange for a bucket seat, finally the center console from a Ford Expedition was added along with a triple gauge pod and full stereo system.

Future plans for the truck include a Cervinis tailgate wing, smooth side steps and eventually a whipple blower once the current motor pops.

These future plans may have to wait at least three months as Chris is about to dive head first into The Infamous Project which will see him build a 1992 BMW AC Schnitzer and a 1989 Mustang GT Convertible for this years Performance World Car Show in Toronto.

The Infamous project will set a new standard for internet builds since not only will it be largely privately funded it will also be one of the only builds, to my knowledge, that will contain a live video feed of garage while Chris works on both cars.

If this double build is anything like his past builds it will be interesting, detailed, and clean, just what we all need to help us get through another long Canadian winter.

Thanks to Chris for sending his ride in for the feature and good luck goes out to him for both of his builds. I’m eager to see how the turn out.

WTF Friday: The Name Game Returns

3

Just because I am giving the stickers away for free right now doesn’t mean we can’t play some name that ride for bragging rights. This week we have a car on it’s victory lap from way back in July as well as a few other question marks that have been sitting on my hard drive for awhile.

Traffic has continued it’s steady upwards momentum, a lot of it referring traffic from all over so whats up to: carsxgirl, buildthreads, Hatch life, fatlace/hellaflush, driftstl, stlhondas, randomness of jade, generation dub, and club lexus, just to name a few.

The amount of people wanting stickers has me dumb struck, honestly, I knew I had a few fans but not this many so fast and from all over the U.S. as well as Canada. I can’t really put into words how motivating it is for me that you guys want to put my stickers on your cars.

Garrick, Jesse, Stanley, Ross, Megan, and Lukas all your stickers are in envelopes already.

Bryce, Jon, Adrian, Nat, Julian and Kris I am going to put yours in envelopes after work today.

They will all make their way to the post office tonight along with any other emails I get between now and then.

To fit into normal postage envelope I have folded the stickers between letters but being dye cut this shouldn’t be an issue. Everyone has received more than one anyway and if for whatever reason a sticker gets ruined just send me an email and I will mail you some from the next batch.

Also the pinks are all gone 🙁 next run I will get more pink and less black as I think I will have a bit of a black surplus.

That Neon

19

That Neon I posted in the “Working with what what  you’ve got post” is pretty sick, but I wasn’t sure if y’all would appreciate a post dedicated to it’s a first generation Neon. However I noticed yesterday that reader  Cody Ace was interested in seeing more photos of it, and since I aim to please I decided to throw up the 3 additional photos I have of the car.

Pat’s killing it

0

I’ve mentioned Pat Cyr before and when this video popped up in my facebook feed this morning I knew I would end up posting it sometime today. The amount of driving skill Pat has is pretty mind boggling so it’s good to see it getting some exposure across the border.

Won-ton productions put this video together and it contains footage of Pat drifting at the Street Life Tour and Club Loose in NJ. Hopefully one of these days Pat, Drift Posse and I can hook up and do up something real original for stanceiseverything.com.

Stick em up!

12

My stickers courtesy of Seche Media arrived last week after the first set got abducted by the mail man (if you see a mail truck rocking a stanceiseverything.com sticker that’s how it happened) and I’m really excited to finally have these in my hand. This blog is one of the only ideas I have had over the past few years that I have followed through so the fact that I showed enough follow through to get stickers printed and that people want to run them just makes me want to put more and more work into the blog it’s a rad feeling.

But enough about me this first run of stickers read stanceiseverything.com and come in pink(2), blue(5), green(5) and white(25) and black(10) and are 100% free and all I ask is that those of you who do rock them send in a picture of the sticker on your car so I can post it up here.

If you would like a set hit me up with your mailing address at [email protected] I plan to mail them out via normal mail every Friday (and therefore ship Monday) so shipping times will depend on where you live but as long as more postman don’t snap them up they should arrive.

I am currently out of stickers, I will order another set soon stay tuned!

Theme Tuesdays: JDM Minitrucks

4

The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: JDM Mini trucks

I’ve liked mini trucks for as long as I can remember, s-body (s10s and blazers) mini’s are still my favorite but as a rule I like all lowered trucks (I know big surprise). Before really getting into a lot of automotive blogs I thought that the mini truck craze was something native to North America. I figured everywhere else the either didn’t have a lot of trucks or needed their trucks to be practical.

I was wrong, and I am glad I was because these mini’s are a new take on a classic slice of the automotive hobby.

Traditional

Sam H’s take on the max e30 meet

4

A few weeks ago I promised to post Sam’s shots of the Maxbimmer Autumn e30 meet. Then I got sidetracked with some other posts today I make good on my promise and liberate these photos from my stanceiseverything@gmail inbox. Enjoy.

Autocross

Before the e30 meet there was BMW Club of Canada, Trillium Chapter autocross event I really wanted to make it out this event since I have still yet to auto cross myself but I had a wedding the night before and was therefore out of commission in the early morning. Sam however went to the event to participate and shoot some action shots.

Sam left his car at the initial meeting spot so he could free up his hands for some shotgun photography during the meet. He sent in a lot of nice shots and here are my personal favorites.

WTF Friday: Take that Physics!

6

Normally I have my WTF Friday topic picked out pretty early in the week and find myself biting my tongue all week long. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to share it with more people, it was actually hard for me to not just throw it up on my facebook and msn it to my friends. I like things that shouldn’t be and the Scania R99 probably shouldn’t be.

Admittedly I do not know a lot about big rigs, I have a few friends that work on them and tell me stories of drivers with the floors cut out so they can poop when the drive, but other than that my knowledge is quite sparse so if this truck is actually unimpressive for those of you who do know a lot about big rigs I apologize.

Practicality aside the Scania R99 really stood out to me since it was a convertible big rig and it does doughnuts. When I saw the video of this truck throwing itself in circles I imagined physics as a little nerd and the Scania R99 as a jock slapping it in the face for questioning its ability to do whatever the hell it wants.

Most information I found on this truck was in dutch so extracting information on it was a little tough but from what I can tell The Scania R99 convertible is powered by a turbo 16 liter v8 and makes about 1000hp (which actually seems pretty low) and scoots to 60mph in 5 seconds. While this truck may not be the prettiest thing you have ever seen this is pretty cool.

Stephanie’s feature really out did everything else on the blog this week which I was really happy to see and I’ve lined up another female featured ride for the near future as well.

My stickers have also finally arrived! I am rocking the first set right now (in pink!) and I plan to take some photos of them this weekend for anyone interested in supporting. This first batch is free and I have a few ideas for some creative ones to put out over the winter.

As the blog/site/procrastination tool of mine gains more exposure I have realized I need to continue to improve my online voice and proof reading skills as well so bear with me, contrary to home some posts read English is actually my first (and only) language and I will stop making silly typos soon enough.

Or I will just hire an editor.

Have a good weekend!

Youtube is on to me…

1

I’ve noticed that whenever I go to youtube that my recommended videos are of slammed cars, bmx, and girls. Is big brother watching or am I just that predictable? Either way I guess I should thank youtube for the content today since I am slammed at work and could only offer a little hit and run.

Dat Ass

2

I’m not sure if everyone’s up on internet memes but one that has been kicking around for a few years now is “Dat Ass“. This one started with a picture of rapper Rich Boy biting his lower lip, looking at the picture it’s easy to imagine he just saw a girl with a nice Gluteus maximus bit his bottom lip and made that ‘ssss’ noise right before saying look at ‘dat ass’. Its really the best thing Rich Boy ever contributed to the internet and the segue I am using to post some cars with nice rear ends.
