WTF Friday: Long Dub Is Long

0

Ever wondered what would happen if you took a four door MKI VW Golf, cut the hatch off, and in its place welded the back of a MKI Volkswagen Caddy?

Well wonder no more because that is exactly what one man in Utah did before he put it on eBay a few weeks back.

longdubislong2

In addition to the hack and slash described in the opening paragraph –along with some reinforcements– the builder also states that the suspension was replaced and all the necessary extensions were made to the emergency brake and exhaust to make this still 100% legal for the road.

longdubislong3
longdubislong
Billed as a turn-key car the seller does admit there are dents and dings throughout because “the guy” who was doing the paint flaked off.

longdubislong5
longdubislong1
The price for this ‘carcuk’ was 7,500 and the auction ended with that not met so I imagine it will be up for sale again soon.

While it would probably look half decent a lot lower with some nice wheels under it I imagine this build will probably find its way to a junk yard. 17 feet 3 inches is a lot of VW for even the most die-hard of enthusiast.

Patiently Waiting

0

In 2012 I stumbled upon a Pantera based racing team out of Japan known as Team Pantera Of Japan. While their name isn’t exactly the most creative thing ever, their cars are in fact awesome.

Of their extensive Pantera fleet the car known as The Purple Demon has really captured my eye, and I’ve been patiently waiting for a media house with Japan contacts *cough*speedunters*cough*The Nariata Dog Fight*cough* to get some feature coverage but alas nothing.

teampofj1

Thankfully they have a Facebook page that is updated often enough for me to get my fix. Enjoy these pics they recently posted while I try to figure out how to get to Japan on the cheap.

Theme Tuesdays: UCF10 & UCF20 Lexus LS400s

3

In the four-year span between this post and the original LS400 Theme Tuesday post people have pushed the first and second generation LS400 chassis passed what was previously deemed possible.

Whether it be wider, lower, faster or more sideways this aging luxury sedan still looks pretty contemporary in the right hands. Heck it still looks a hell of a lot better than some of the luxury sedans that came after it.

ls-400-18
These cars are capable of swallowing wheels, if I had to hazard a guess.. 10s all around?
ls-400-19
It’s funny at the time these were released I hated two tones and gold emblems, guess my tastes are now more refined
ls-400-11
I’ve always been amazed that I have not seen a single photo of this car where the bumper shows any damage, with such a large lip I’d imagine it is a bit of a handful to pilot
ls-400-2
Sleepy Wagon’s not so wagony LS400
ls-400-1
The modified front fenders on this car really make it stand out when compared to standard UCF20s

Locksmice Duke wheels just suit this car so well, perhaps the BBS RS of the LS400 world

Bazerias are not a bad choice either

A new burnout Theme Tuesday is on my ‘To Do’ list

I’m willing to bet this is the only LS in this color anywhere
The SK Performance LS400 is also a very unique color, I have not seen another in it
The SK Performance daily driver is also a very unique color, looks slightly different every time I see it
Sic's LS400 is on 22s this season, 22x11 out back...
Sic’s Ryde’s car has seen a whole pile of different wheels under it

Pretty sure these only lasted one show

Brett’s LS400 which I post a lot but hey… it’s awesome
ls-400-13
This Super Star Garage build is absolutely wild
ls-400-14
It changed recently and actually looks as though it would fit in perfectly in Japan. There’s a build thread for this car here which I am only on the second page of
Elvis’ (of Stance Nation Fame) Lexus LS400 when it was bagged

The newer, wider, static rendition

Sadly I don’t think it sees much road time anymore

For those of you that love the color blue, but perhaps not the camber above here’s another state side example from AutoFashion

ls-400-9
I know there are a few of you reading this who feel this is the only proper thing to do with a rwd sedan
ls-400-15
LS 400 race cars didn’t really yield a lot of hits but I did find this build by Sergey of Sergey’s House of wheels

He has a thread on the progress though it seems like Instagram and Facebook might be your best bets for consistent updates

Awful Hero

0

Sometime ago I started following @awful_hero on Instagram. Not sure how it happened but I am pretty sure it involved a conversation about an oddball car because that is essentially all we ever end up talking about.

Unlike myself, who just has a general interest in unique builds but actually drives a fairly par for the course car, AF actually pilots a fairly uncommon craft.

awful_hero_1

Reppin’ for Unfriendly Garage his Volvo 240 wagon is literally always changing but the recent respray from blue to black is all killer and no filler.

Who would have pegged Eagle Alloys to look so damn good on a Volvo? Furthermore who would have thought an early model e30 air damn would look good under the bumper of a Volvo, or that fender mirrors would work so well on the same car?

This. Car. Rules.

WTF Friday: The Italian Stallion

0

Typically when the topic of car motors in motorcycles is discussed people speak of small block, or sometimes even big block domestic motors. Occasionally someone might also bring up that weird V-10 powered Dodge Tomahawk thing, or the insane 48 cyl Kawasaki, but as a rule motorcycles ten cylinder or better bikes are fairly rare.

A few days ago I spotted this Lamborghini V12 Espada powered bike on Brett Creates and immediately needed more info.

italianstallion_1 italianstallion_2

Before too long I discovered it was built by Chuck Beck. A former Shelby fabricator who was responsible for designing the (awesome) Ford Shogun Festiva. Clearly Mr. Beck is clearly a fan of large motors in small packages.

In this case the motor came from a Espada that was involved in a fire so Lamborghini purists no need to fret.

italianstallion_3 italianstallion_4
When asked how it rides Chuck is quoted as saying: It runs and drives— and above 5mph it goes down the road just like a regular bike. It’s a little unwieldy at low speeds though.

Crumpledphotos on youtube as some footage of this bike running, pre body work, at a Cars and Coffee event in 2014.

They also have a walk around video of it in its current form:

This bike would pair nicely with this previous WTF Friday vehicle.

Because Bags

As I hopelessly wait for the weather to get better I’ve been kicking around forums looking for some new builds to read, and content to post. After catching up on a few threads I have subscribed to in the Stance Works Forums I peered into the Showroom where I was greeted by this M4.

Touted as the ‘lowest m4’ this black coupe sits on the ground via a custom Air Lift set-up. 20″ footwork is provided by Water Cooled Industries, and the very slick CF lip is an Enlaes piece.

I do believe this is the first M4 I have ever posted on the site. Neat.

Theme Tuesdays: Bare Metal Pt.2

4

Near the end of Furious Seven yesterday three cars leapt out at me, the Rad Rides By Troy built’ GPT Special’ Ford Torino, the crazy cool Chevy Caprice I can’t find any more info on, and the bare metal Dodge Charger known as Project Maximus.

All of these cars were pretty awesome inclusions in the film, but the inspiration for today’s post comes solely from the latter mentioned Nelson Supercars all aluminum wide body 2000 hp fire breather.

Project Maximus as Captured in 2013

The metal work on this car is so great it’s almost hard to believe how much wider than stock it is

A Bare metal s10 has managed to make it into both editions of this post
I post this truck a lot but it’s relevant it so many posts!
Great looking Raw build from Detroit Autorama in 2014
Raw Volksrod from the Volksrod Theme Tuesday

Does anyone now exactly what this is? Fiero based kit perhaps?
bare-metal-9
This 302 Powered V8 Miata certainly isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea but I really like it
bare-metal-10
I think some sort of front end would really finish it off but as it sits it’s a very unique car. A bit more information about it is here

Great looking Raw ’49 that I think has also been chopped… which is impressive to leave it bare metal if this is the case

This will forever be my favourite look for the car

WTF Friday: Jumping Sharks

4

Over the years there have been a few compact cars pop up with over the top amounts of negative camber.

Usually it’s a one-off car built for shock and awe that vanishes into obscurity never to be seen again. Prior to being directed @autoji‘s instagram page never had I seen so many of these shock value cars in one place.

autoji_3

This seems to have originally started as a joke but now it’s hard to tell if things are still a joke, or they actually do like their cars set up like this.

autoji_1

autoji_2

autoji_5

I highly doubt these see much use outside of shows but I must admit I was fairly surprised to see them move much at all as the videos below illustrate exactly how much audible protest a car is capable of making being driven with near -60 degrees of camber.

https://instagram.com/p/05NvCiQ6GK/?taken-by=autoji
https://instagram.com/p/00M40tQ6Mu/?taken-by=autoji

If this is the direction things are ultimately headed with this whole aggressive fitment thing I do believe we have may have jumped the shark.

What do you think?

Store Update!

0

With everything that went on in 2014 (son born, car write off, events, features, SEMA,procrastination) the Official Stance Is Everything Store fell by the wayside. There was still product in there, but the design was reflective of the previous site’s skin and the inventory wasn’t exactly up to date.

Last night I went through and accurately updated the inventory numbers and put nearly all of the products on sale.

With shirt pricing as low as twelve dollars there has honestly never been a more financially sensible time to order some product, especially if you are from the US. The reason I am blowing out current product is so that I can start fresh with new designs later in 2015.

The products pictured below will be permanently discontinued once current stock has run out, so now’s your last chance to pick them up for cheap if you’ve always wanted one.

The original ‘I Like Em Dropped’ sticker is a classic favourite but I think for 2015 I can do a little better 🙂

I also released a trial run of a brand new sticker called ‘Scripted’ which was designed by pinstripe artist Christian Melchior. This sticker is currently in limited quantities but a wider release will follow.

As always thanks for the support!

Theme Tuesdays: Buick Grand Nationals (and Regal T Types)

2

If you’re wondering why a Buick Grand National Theme Tuesday has taken so long, it’s because even a devout non purist like myself questions whether or not they should be left stock.

In general modified GNs are pretty rare and modified GNXs are down right scares so a few clones and the odd Regal T Type may have worked their way into this post as well.

Owning one of these cars is probably forever out of my reach but I started to consider what organs I could sell while putting this post together.

street_classics_2014_buick_grand_nationals
Start things off with a GNX and a GN from last years Street Classic’s season opener

These things are most likely forever unattainable for me but I sure love looking at em
grand-national-3
Found this in a thread of ‘First cars’ this is quite the first car!
grand-national-8
Wonder if this car is still lurking around Ontario?
grand-national-18
Thrusts are always a dependable choice on G bodies
grand-national-14
If the rear end on this came down a bit and the white letters were front and rear it would be perfect, still it is on its way there
buick-grand-national
Actually the car above isn’t all that far away from this which is from the one in Fast 4 (one of the best parts of that movie)
grand-national-23
Not sure why but I saw quite a few really interesting wheels thrown under these, like Giovannas
buick-wires
If memory serves the intention was never to run this car on wires, but if you ever wondered what one would look like on wires here you go
grand-national-21-hamann
Now this is interesting, Hamann MM2s on something that isn’t a BMW, or even European for that matter

These are Fiske wheels I believe, and they look quite right under this car
grand-national-12
This car is one of many that came from turbobuick.com
grand-national-2
Picked this up on Stance | Works, not sure much has happened with the build thread since this shot but it looks pretty good here

Kind of wild to see these cars repainted, this color works surprisingly well though

switching to the more Pro Touring side of things this one is a Speedtech car

This GNX and the one below are perfect palette swaps of each other
grand-national-6
This car is a GNS performance car modelled under the original GNX X-Ray which has an interesting story all its own you can read here (basically it’s as close to a GNX as you can have without owning a GNX)

Not just a pretty face this car gets put through its paces

This post has made me acutely aware of the fact that a G body Theme Tuesday is missing. I’ve added it to the list!
