Event Preview

Local tuner shop, and Stance Is Everything sponsor, Next Mod is having it's one year anniversary meet this Sunday August 15th from 1pm - 5pm. Every meet at Next Mod is sure to be packed with vehicular eye candy since the crew at the shop always provides free drinks and BBQ'd food for those in attendance and if there is one way to get people to come out it's with free food.

I've been totally sleeping on posting this event, I swear I need a secretary, anyway Strech & Poke the crew behind Stretch & Poke 1 is putting on another event this Saturday at Humber Bay Park East starting at 10 am. If the last event was any indication of the caliber of cars that are going to be at this one it is defiantly worth checking out if you are in the area. Furthermore David at S&P has also hooked up with JDM Ego and Fatlace for this and will have some exclusive stickers. Further details inside.

Importfest is coming up on it's 10 year anniversary and the organizers have asked to be a part of making this years one to remember. New for this years event, which takes place September 11th 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention center, are 10 new trophy classes including 'Baddest Stance' which they kindly given me the opportunity to help judge. Sam from Division R Performance got in touch with me regarding an upcoming show that's taking place right in my backyard here in Mississauga. Division R Performance and well respected local car audio shop, Selective Sound, are teaming up once again to present "The 5th Annual Voice Coil Meltdown & Tuner Jam” which takes place on Sunday June 27th 2010.

With all the shows coming up so quickly and so packed together it's been pretty hard for me to do these event previews with enough for warning to make them practical, however I figure four days is practically a work week so here are the details on the 3rd official JDMrides.ca meet this Sunday September 27th.

Spotted this event over on JDMrides On August 9th 2009 Teknotik.com and JDMrides.ca are putting together the 2009 Honda Tech meet. This meet is billed to be Canada's largest Honda and Acura gathering of the year. It is taking place at Downsview Park in Toronto and is 100% free.

Minitrucks and lowriders have been around for years but you never really see a lot of them turn up at your average car show. However Scrape By the Lake isn't your average show. Scrape by the lake is Canada's premiere low rider show hosted by Rollerz Only CC. Scrape is always a huge event but this years July 19th event is special because its the 10th anniversary.

In 2001 and group of Toronto area BMW enthusiasts got together to create an event for other hardcore BMW enthusiasts in the area. What they created was Bimmercruse and it has run successfully in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and this year Bimmercruise is flying under the Eurofest banner and sis gearing up to be one of the largest cars shows in Ontario and perhaps the largest European car show in Ontario.

July 12th 2009 is shaping up to be a busy day in the GTA automotive enthusiasts world. Earlier in the week I previewed the Tuners Against Street Racing Event and today I will be previewing the 3rd Annual Bimmersport BBQ.

Turns out that the Canadian Tire Car show I attended on June 6th was not a one time deal. These shows are done by an organization called "Street Classics Show and Shine Association™" and they happen every Saturday (weather permitting) at Canadian Tire # 70 which is located at 1608 The Queensway in Etobicoke.

On July 12th 2009 JRP performance and a group of dedicated volunteers will be putting on the third annual Tuners Against Street Racing, or T.A.S.R. charity show and shine. This family oriented car show attracts over 200 GTA car enthusiasts every year. The proceeds from the show go to Big Brothers and Big sisters of Peel who help provide the youth of Peel region with positive role models. Last years T.A.S.R. show was a great example of how positive the local tuning community is and that it's not all about competition but having fun in a safe positive environment.
