Event Coverage: 2013 CSCS Season Opener – Pt. 2

As mentioned in part one of 2013 CSCS season opener coverage Cayuga was packed last Sunday which meant the show and shine was overwhelmingly full. Let me tell you I was pretty glad to not be a judge at that event because as it must have taken ages to get through the show and shine field never mind try and arrange them in some sort of logical order.

Featured Ride: Ruben’s 64 Chevrolet Impala SS

Lowriding is one part of the enthusiast lifestyle that is often incredibly misunderstood. To many, even other enthusiasts, painting intricate designs with copious amounts of flake on the frame and underside of an American classic is as silly as... well, building a car that can hop up and down at the carefully timed flip of a switch. But if you think about it building a show quality lowrider is not unlike building a show quality drift car. Both are meant to be used in a ways a normal car never would and both might as well look damn good while doing it.

Event Coverage: Stretch & Poke! Presents Fitted Lifestyle 2013

For the past four years Dave and the ever growing Stretch & Poke! operating team have been providing Toronto's aggressive fitment community with quality events for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts. Last years season opening event clocked in record attendance and, not a group to rest on their laurels, the Stretch & Poke team strived to top their previous success with an even bigger 2013 event at an all new venue.

Event Coverage: Street Classics 2013 Season Opener

Got the opportunity to check out the Street Classics 2013 season opener on Saturday. I ended up leaving the house a little bit late which meant that sadly I missed some of the people who ducked out early to go onto other long weekend festivities. The smaller amount of cars didn't bother me too much however because last year I didn't make it to nearly enough of these events so I was just happy to be out.

Theme Tuesdays: Local-Hero.jp

I've always found the relationship between Japan's automotive scene and the one in North America is pretty interesting. We copy them, they copy us, they copy us copying them, we copy them copying us copying them. It's like a never ending feedback loop that more often than not leads to a lot of cool cars.

Event Coverage: Driven 2013

With Driven in the books the 2013 show season is now "officially" underway in Calgary. Eager to get old man winter out the door this years driven took place a little earlier than last year which meant a few people had to scramble to get their cars ready for the show. However 250+ cars ended up making it to the Calgary Oval even with the accelerated timeline and Mike once again did a great job of capturing the show in the artistic way only he can.

Meguiar’s Car Crazy Canada’s Best Winnipeg Finalists

Things have been heating up since the last post about The Meguiar's Car Crazy Canada's Best contest and Meguiar's Canada recently posted the ten finalists from Winnipeg World Of Wheels. These ten finalists are now in the running to win a VIP trip for two to the 2013 SEMA Show, and the chance to appear on Car Crazy TV alongside Barry Meguiar.

Theme Tuesdays: Front End Swaps and Conversions

Today is the day I make good on last Friday's promise of some more favourable front end swaps to balance out the more horrendous. Front (and rear for that matter) swaps are always going to be somewhat controversial, and a matter of personal preference, so I have no doubt some of you are not going to agree with a few of these picks. As always feel free to express your opinions, or share ones I may have missed, in the comments below.

Theme Tuesdays: Surf Wagons

Not long ago I waded my way into a thread about "Surf Wagons" on the H.A.M.B in an attempt to find more information on the Suburban included in today's post. After clicking through a few pages I noticed that there's a bit of a debate in regards to what makes a real surf wagon but, loosely defined it's a vehicle that could potentially be used to shuttle surfers to and fro.

Event Coverage: Mega Speed 2013 – Part 3

Sorry for the delay between parts two and part three of the 2013 Mega Speed Coverage it wasn't really intentional, I just got busy getting a few ducks in a row (more on said ducks next week). Today's wrap up coverage has a little bit of everything that you couldn't find in the previous posts.

Theme Tuesdays: Burnouts

I like to believe there are at least two universal truths among car enthusiasts. The first is that everyone loves the e30 m3, and the second is that everybody likes a good burnout. Personally I love a good burnout and while I agree they have their time and place (leaving a meet is neither the time nor the place), I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more tires evaporate into clouds of smoke this year.

Event Coverage: Detroit AutoRama Extreme

After dragging our jaws around the floor of the Cobo Center for a few hours Blair said before we left AutoRama we had to go downstairs to check out the other part of the show. Not knowing there was a down stairs I was pretty intrigued by what else the Detroit AutoRama had to offer.
