After doing MKII Golf’s last week it became pretty apparent that there are quite a few MKI fans that check out the site.
So to follow up I decided a collection of MKI’s was in order, the rest of the generations have been added to the to do list as well so don’t fret MKIII and on drivers 🙂
These wheels look better on the MKI thank the Porsche they came fromAnother clean, fairly standard, exampleHitachi win - Not an MKI but I still like the photo lolThat's a bad ass set of OZ'sAs this is a bad ass set of BBSAre BBS kits as rare for MKI's as they are for e30s? Anyone know?GroundedSo clean and well doneGorgeous colorThe only thing wrong with this one is that it is not platedLocal flavorA bit bummed I missed Vagkraft this year even though it was rainingThis car was so cleanThese look bad ass in race skinAwesome.Kamei MKI - I am sure one of you know way more about this than I doPerhaps the coolest slot car I have ever seenFrom what I remember the final number was around 250bhpThese look so good dead onZOMG
Today is a holiday (Thanksgiving) here in Canada so I figured I should make the best of it and double up on the posts, and since I already posted one bagged BMW today why not another? I spotted this bagged e30 touring on a forum a couple of months ago and was recently stumbled upon it again and remembered how much I liked it.
Bagged e30s are still pretty uncommon so do see someone do this to a touring, and keep it clean, is a real treat.
Love the look of a white e30 dumpedAn insane amount of tuck aired outWith great lift aired upHopefully higher res shots of this car show up soon
Remember bags are not cheating, ride low, park lower.
I told myself I wasn’t going to write about the latest version of this car. Not because I don’t like it, but because Speedhunters did it, Fatlace did it, and even Jalopnik did it. This post has sat as a draft for about two weeks while I tried to decide if my input was at all necessary.
After reading a comment calling this car ‘nothing more than a POS‘ in a thread titled ‘How much time did this guy waste‘ IÂ found myself coming back because while a lot of people love the car, a vast number of people hate it and while everyone is entitled to their own opinion many are missing the point.
I think the roof looks best from low angles, personally
To think of this car as a BMW is wrong, what started as a simple daily driver has evolved into the ever changing piece of automotive art you see today. What the purists, who are ready to set fire to Mike, are quick to forget is that this car was for all practical sense written off a long time ago and just happens to be exceptionally good at dodging the grips of the crusher.
M. B(f)urroughs has created a car which embodies nearly every type of automotive modification, Rusty has an eclectic combination of modifications that very few people are used to seeing in one car.
This brave and radical combination is what is causing many to take to their keyboards in blind rage.
The dash is one of my favorite features of the car
I’ll admit first looking at the car you might see the signs of someone who didn’t know when to say when, however the more you look at it the more you can see the work of an enthusiast who pays attention to all parts of the automotive hobby.
Not sure what I mean? Here is a quick break down of the way I see the modifications:
Euro: The arches, the Ronals, the camber, and the stretch
Hot Rod: The boosted 1jz motor swap, which is no different than a chevy powered 32 Ford
Tuner: Again the boosted Toyota power plant checks this off
‘Rat’ Rod: The paint, or lack there of
Minitruck: The air ride, the need to lay frame, and the ability to throw sparks
Custom/Vintage: The interior, which in my opinion is a work of art.
Lead sled: The roof!
It's got stance...
Like many the first time I saw the ‘God Father’ iteration of rusty I was a little conflicted as I really liked the previous version but as time passed, and the roof began to grown on me, I’ve come to understand that while there are still things about the car I may not like personally Mike has created the perfect contrast to his clean e36.
Now he has the best of both worlds: a clean functional car, and a radical impractical fun as hell car.
The seats are another touch I really like.
If you still have your doubts about the car as a whole I suggest taking the time to read through the build thread on stanceworks, it’s the best way to understand what this car is and how much work Mike has put into it the past few years.
I was blown away by the amount of people who commented, and the great things you guys and girls said about the blog even though a simple “do want” would have worked to enter.
All of you and your cars make this blog, and anytime I have stuff to give away I will run similar contests. So once again thank you! Now onto the winner…
*insert drum roll here*
The winner out of the odds which were slightly more than 1 in 100 is: Jackc who’s lucky comment number was picked thanks to the Random.org Integer generator.
Congratulations Jack and check your email for shipping info 🙂
To everyone who entered, I’ve already started collecting for the next round and will continue to at Sema.
And now… onto the WTF
Just quickie today of a van that was actually out at last weekends Stretch & Poke III looking slightly lost.
Now I have nothing against modified vans, but I don’t think the Van above was the appropriate platform to start with, nor do I think it serves as a great marketing tool for ‘Extreme Auto Body & Collision’ in it’s current condtion.
But hey that’s just me, and what do I know I have yet to find a body shop I can really trust…
Site Updates
Nothing new this week but before I head out to Sema I have a bunch of things I need to get done, not worthy things being T-shirts and business cards. I might get a few extra shirts run to sell in the store as well but we will see what the final cost ends up being.
I am kind of hemorrhaging money at this current point in time so a full T-shirt run might have to wait. 😛
Flashback Friday
The clean 180sx I posted yesterday reminded me of this car which I posted February of this year in the Mr Dori post.
Clean S - Chassis FTW
That’s it for today, thanks again for everyone that entered and I might have a post up over the weekend seeing as it’s a long one and I just broke my bike…
As the 2010 GTA event season comes to a close you are going to start seeing a lot of cars that have been on my hard drive for the past few months, today I’ve got a super clean Nissan 180sx.
It’s pretty rare to see one this clean since a great number of them end up in the hands of drifters, and while it’s never bad to see a car used and abused on the track, it’s also nice to see one that the owner has kept spit shined.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw one this clean and straight forward.
Clean paint and straight bodySuper clean interior and loving the screen placementNot slammed, but not sky scraping eitherLow offset but again nothing extreme, just rightDaniel Mckenna you take great photos
On Sunday October 3rd in odd, but appropriate, weather the GTA car community said Sayonara to Summer with an event put on by the good people at Stretch and Poke.
When I showed up (late) some of cars had come and gone but from the coverage I have seen on the Scraped Crusaders and courtesy of Gawa on JDMR the event was a great success.
That’s not to say that the turnout was bad when I arrived the smaller group actually made it a little easier for all of us to get together and talk about cars, the weather, and the scene.

I was over on Supermade last night looking at all the nice Volkswagens he posts when it hit my like a brick that I had yet do do a Theme Tuesday dedicated solely to the MKII Golf.
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long, these cars a staple of the low lifestyle and are always at shows and meets.

Without you all, the readers, this blog would be me writing about cars to myself and that wouldn’t be a whole lot of fun. When I first started this I had no idea how well it would go but the support I have received so far both locally and abroad has been absolutely fantastic.
While I would love to give all of my readers a personal show of thanks doing so would put me in the poor house so I’m just going to have to settle for giving one of you a bunch of stickers.
Below I have a prize pack which I have assembled from stickers I’ve received from various vendors over the year either by sticker swaps, hand outs, or dumb luck.

The contest will run from Monday October 4th to end of day Thursday October 7th with the winner being announced on this weeks WTF Friday.
The winner will be chosen at mathamatical random and not by comment quality so feel free to say whatever you like.
Even though this show was just last weekend with the way the weather has changed (and the amount of time it’s taken me to post all of the parts) it seems like it was longer than that.
Most of the cars in today’s coverage are probably stored away by now or will soon be in winter mode so here is a look at one of the last show and shines of the season.
This CSCS had quite a few cars that I had yet to see at a CSCS event which helped add some variety mixed in with the show regulars.

This event should continue to get better and better as the years go by.
