WTF Friday: Look Another Front End Swap

11

These front swaps are getting a little out of hand. Sure many (like today’s) are executed fairly competently, meaning that the body work doesn’t look like ass, but the final results never do the shop that did the work any sort of justice.

1994 Mustang, meet your 2008 face, sorry you didn’t get a v8 in the process.

The flames are actually done quite well, but the front end doesn't flow
Looks to be in good shape otherwise

Thanks to Mr VIP for snapping this weeks gem.

Site Updates

The biggest, and most important, site update I am going to talk about this week is this:

SEMA 2010

My media application to attend has been approved and I am very, very excited. I never imagined I would be going to a SEMA without hitching a ride on someone else’s coat tails so to be able to do it on my own is incredible.

I still have to book my flight, accommodations and all that good stuff but the hardest part is over with. I expect to come back with an obscene amount of coverage, can’t wait!

For the locals hope to see you all at:

I should be rolling in around 2 or 3

this weekend!

Flashback Friday

It’s been awhile since I have checked in with Bryce Casselman and seen what he’s been up to but these photos from ‘Art Imitates Life‘ are still some of my favorites and now that I think about it they would probably look great in my office…

Art imitating life...

I’ll finish up the CSCS Coverage tonight or tomorrow morning depending if Red Dead Redemption sucks me in or not.

Guest Event Coverage: WCN 2010

I decided to take a quick break from the CSCS coverage for a moment and live vicariously through Tucson AZ native Will (@solefoodOG), who you might remember as the owner a very low bug from the friendly rivalry post in 2009.

Will recently picked up a bagged Ranger and took it and his camera to the 2010 West Cost Nationals, and being the nice guy that he is sent me the link to his flickr so I could run some of his photos.

I gotta say I am pretty jealous of what the weather looks like in AZ, as it’s nothing but gray skies here in Toronto 🙁

Colorado plates are kinda rad
How will rolls these days
These older Rangers are next to non existent round here
Body drops FTW - (Best of show winner!)
It's always a treat to see big Dodge trucks on their nuts
The only thing better than a big Dodge is a big duallie
Looks like a cantilever setup on this s10
Body dropped s10 sporting a mean looking S/C
Dragging bumper on this truck means a lot of work ahead...
This should look pretty legit finished
As should this
The body and paint work on this truck look flawless.
Nice to see that the wild late 90s style still holds up decent
Frontier on the floor
I bet Will could park his truck under this...
I spy a bed dump, I have not see that in a minute
The level of detail in this truck is impressive
Carrying the airbrushing into the interior is a good look
And carrying it all the way to the wheel lips is just bananas
This Benz is G!
Dope color combo on this Monte, wonder what's under the hood...
Beautiful 49 or so Ford

Be sure to check out the rest of Will’s coverage at flickr.com/eseph and follow him on twitter @solefoodog.

Thanks again dude

Event Coverage: 2010 CSCS Finale – Part 2

5

As I’ve mentioned the 2010 CSCS Finale was the first time I had been to Cayuga and the weather had fully cooperated which meant that the track saw a lot of fast action all day.

Personally the track action is the main reason I make the drive out to CSCS as it’s an added bonus on top of the show and shine that I can’t take in at your average show.

It’s also a lot of fun to shoot.

Time Attack

Tried my hand at more time attack panning shots as I am not at the level to try it for drifting yet.

Anna tearing it up
This Caterham shoots huge flames, I missed them.
APH Civc hitting the corner
Corner exit acceleration.
Time attack looks like a lot of fun...
It brings out a lot of Civic drivers
EK sedan on the far straight
Everyone is about on the same line
More often than not that red VW was on the track
This shot inspired yesterdays Theme Tuesday
I wish I framed this a bit better, probably the best pan of the day
This shot wasn't too bad either
Alpine Stars Evo
Mazdaspeed Protege flyin
Pistol Pete putting his new chassis to work
Not sure how he did this year compared to last though
Rudy getting Kurt's car up on 3
The Mad Max Mustang revealed
Set record, break record, repeat

Drift

Drifting is always exciting to watch but at the 2010 finale I knew a number of the drivers which made the battles even more exciting.

Big props to Chris De La Cruz for making the final four!

Union Autoclub knows how to make an entrance
Liam making his way out of the smoke
This battle had to be run a few times, it was pretty close
Very close at times
Loughhead and St John battling it out
This was the first battle I saw all day actually
Lougghead sending smoke signals
Getting loose during the demo
He really carried a lot of speed and angle through this portion of the course
Mike Martiono up on three
As far as I know this was Jesse's (left) first event and he did pretty well
His entries were pretty solid normally hitting hay bale
Somethings hot under there
He easily made it past this round
Loughhead gave him some tough competition though
Sliding on the back half of the course
Fiddy and Loughhead are always consistent and make the finals
Fiddy loves to get rid of tires
Chris lined up
Chris had a great day in his e30, qualified 14th then made it all the way to the final 4
All those people randomly standing there are so brave haha

The final batch of show and shine pictures will be up tomorrow, see you then.

Event Coverage: 2010 CSCS Finale- Part 1

7

Yesterday I mentioned that the 2010 CSCS finale had an absolutely stellar turnout, the best of any CSCS I had attended personally.

There were cars everywhere, on the track, in the pits, and all over the visitor parking, it seemed like everyone and there mom was out at Cayuga.

Today I have 30 plus photos of what I saw off the track and away from the show and shine, few unique/rarity’s here.

Pulsars

I guess Pulsars are starting to pop up more and more around Ontario, I wonder what they go for.

I wouldn't mind taking one of these out on the track, looks like a lot of fun
This one was super clean
I guess being affiliated with an autobody shop it ought to be

Drifters

Those who go sideways, we salute you.

Marin ended up with some brake trouble and couldn't compete but he was in the demo later
Union Auto Club was rollin deep
Ryan's Nissan powered e30, don't see him on maxbimmer much anymore 😛
This sticker pretty much describes his feelings about the max crowd
Thanks for the love man!
Chris (white e30) was having a great day, but his tires paid the price

Mazda, Subaru, Toyota

Clean examples of all three of these brands…

Chris from notsostock.com is actually selling his STI
I really liked this stage four FD
That lip/diffuser combo is certainly pretty wild
Tried to get a little creative...
Alex, the owner of this SC on Advan's tracked me down for some stickers
Looking good man

Euros

Merkur's are kind of Euros right? I have an unhealthy fascination with these
Uber nice 190e
Rudy came to do work in the Gladner prepped e36 track monster but then it broke...
so he threw his wheels on Kurt
This Rabbit is proper
A big hell ya to the owner.

Hondas

Well now that is a giant Domo
Eric (deep dish Ford Probe) was out in his beater
Anna's always track ready CRX
Teknotic EG sedan
When I took a picture of this at Honda Tech I forgot to shoot the motor
Can you tellwhat's going on here?
How about now? Compound boost!!!

Track beasts

This Caterham was a treat to see out on the track
Like the MGB from yesterday it was rotary powered
Check the panard bar on this half hidden Mustang...
This car flat out flys on the track, the driver broke his own record he set last time out
285s all around!

This is only the tip of the iceberg regarding coverage so check back tomorrow for the drift and track action.

Theme Tuesdays: Tripoding

4

Originally this Theme Tuesday was just going to be low cars having trouble getting over steep grades which lead to a wheel being hung in the air.

However after looking at (and taking) photos of cars getting up on three wheels while cornering I decided to combine both ways of three wheeling into this Theme Tuesday.

Low car steep drop 3 three wheels

The cage inside suggests this car would 3 on the track too
Off roading a rabbit?
Subaru wagon pops a 3
VWs are good at this
This one is intense!
You could almost work on it like this...

High speed sticky tire induced three wheels

Hmmm, ideas for me
Why do our focuses suck 🙁
Toyota Paseo?
More of a 2 wheel but I couldn't leave this out
Nor could I leave this one out
There is another black and white 2002 corner exit pic I love that I could not find
Cortina's are interesting
Get loose
Nice to see an e46 m3 getting used
Another probably up on 2
Henry Ford would be stoked
Drifting three wheels are intense
See what I mean

No I didn’t forget that low riders can hit threes as well, I just figured I would save those for a day all on their own 😉

Rotary Powered MGB

3

The CSCS finale was yesterday and it hands down the best CSCS I’ve been to so far, the lack of rain in the forecast combined with it being the last event of the year drew lots of people out to Cayuga.

While I didn’t have a chance to really get into editing the near card full of photos I took when I got home I did make a point to edit these photos, because not only was this car unique but it was also quite swift on the track.

I’m not a purist by any means, in fact I think as long as it doesn’t disrupt the natural balance of the car too people should put whatever motor they want under they hood of their car and be damned what the manufacturer thinks.

This MGB is an example of just that. The stock motor took a hike and a rotary plant (13b?) found it’s way in.

Fairly clean sorted MGB at first glance, not much seems out of place
But once you get close you notice a motor that actually fit
Pretty no frills bay all business
The motor was built in Hiroshima, found that interesting
The interior matches the engine bay, nothing unnecessary
It's all about the badges

Danio’s slammed s2000 (video)

8

I’ve posted this car before, a few times, and every event I see it at I take photos of it but not there is video which will illustrate  to the rest of  you who have not seen this car in person just how low this car really is.

Amazing.

Shouts (and copy write credits) to Back Stage/Level One they are killing it right now.

WTF Friday: Skynoma?

5

Being a member of s10forum I am not really sure how I missed this build where an s10 owner put an rb20det in an s10 but I did.

I had no idea this even happened until I saw a video clip on my friend Jesse’s new blog Dorimoto and my interest was peaked.

A bagged s10 with a 300zx rear and and an rb25det? Yes please.

RB25det in between the s10 fenders
The 300zx rear
Shot of the rear bag set up as well as 300zx IRS
Shot of the Skynoma laid out, it takes a bit to get used to IRS on an s10
Lots of camber back there
After a tree fell on it he took the time to do some body work first being a vented hood

This is all worthless without video right? Here you go 🙂

Site Updates

The end of season is quickly approaching but it’s not dead yet so this weekend I will be at the CSCS Finale.

I should also be receiving a restock of the white and pink ‘I Like ‘Em Dropped‘ stickers at CSCS as well, so those of you who have been waiting for those to come back they should be in the store Monday.

I will also be working on my garage with my dad this weekend so I’ll have a garage build update as well, which is something I have been looking forward to posting for awhile.

Flashback Friday

Going to take it back the Race Stance Theme Tuesday today.

Every time I have tried to capture flames I have failed 🙁

How about a follow up to this? Hmm…

Event Coverage: Mosport DMCC Part 3

0

Here it is, the third and final set of photos from round 6 of the 2010 DMCC series at Mosport. Qualifying was Tuesday, show and shine Wednesday, and today is the finals and photos from the podium.

Hopefully you guys have enjoyed this in depth coverage and will know (provided you are local to one) check out at least a DMCC event.

Today’s finals coverage is mostly broken down by driver.

Smoke shows

After the finalists were introduced a few of them decided to put on a little pre show, show.

Bernier showing the crowd some love via tire smoke
Thank god for tire sponsors
Another one of my favorite shots from the weekend
After Francois was eliminated this was his swan song
Matt Girard lightin em up
Poirer showing a lady a good time
Shouts to BF Goodrich

Frédéric Girard

Frédéric Girard and his Rock Star 240

Mats Baribeau

Big sedan's can play too
Mats chasing, Poirier lost his bumper
Another shot from the early corner
This was a good battle
Girard leads, Waldin chases
Girard and Francois in a tandem

Marc Landerville

Landerville continued to have a great day all the way into the podium.

All this shot needs is a more little smoke
Ah there we go
Landerville chasing Patinka

Pat Cyr

While Pat didn’t make it into the finals he drove well enough all year to finish out in 2nd place

Pat in his B-Boy stance
I love this shot because of the camber of his car, awesome
Pat at full lock
Pat dropping a tire into the dirt leading Landerville
Smokin it up lower in the course
Would have been a great panning shot...
I wish these head on shots the sun wasn't on the front of the car so much

Patinka

Bob Patinka ended up putting together a decent day

More sun glare
Patinka's car also sounded pretty mean

Waldin

Matt Waldin ended up blowing his motor in the finals but had accumulated enough points to finish the year in the top spot.

Nice shot of Waldin entering
Waldin sending smoke signals
Another shot from that sunny corner

Podium

Some shots of the antics on the podium

Those girls have no idea...
Epic.
Too late to hide now
It's a celebration bitches
Waldin took home the year end, Pat Second, Landerville Third
So that's why he wore those glasses
A salute to the organizers

‘Till next year
