Featured Ride: Aidan’s VIP IS300

18

Cruising through the streets of Yorkville I watch as Aidan carefully navigates his way past potholes and any parts of the road eager to damage his Crimson Inc Linea Sport rims and Version Select body parts.

Riding in the plush passenger seat I look past the Junction Produce curtains, and through the dark tints, at the reflection staring back at me and it’s at this moment I understand why the VIP style and culture are so appealing.

I say culture because as I would learn from my VIP tour guide those who pursue this rolling act of elegance completely immerse themselves in what it is to be VIP.

Similar to the notion ‘not the bright watch, but the right watch‘ the VIP culture is based around a certain caliber of parts and accessories not the sheer amount, which is why Aidan has spent the last year or so carefully selecting which parts to put on his IS300.

Looking from the inside out Aidan’s interior is complimented by a number of accessories that could just as easily be found in an upscale home as oppose to a car interior.

His authentic, custom made, Dolce & Gabanna pillows provide a lounge like experience for the rear passengers, while his VIP head rest coat hanger is the perfect place to hang your jacket while enjoying the surprisingly comfortable ride.

From the rear view mirror  hang both a Junction Produce Gold Kitsuna, and black Fusa which proudly display the fact that the style cues for this ride are deeply based upon the framework that has been laid down over seas.

For that extra little bit of luxury a Garson D.A.D key hole crystal is placed where the cigarette lighter would normally be found.

The front of the car has a Version Select bumper which Aidan has installed fog light blanks to house the custom FlashTech led strips which shine brightly in a color that matches his 6000k HID bulbs.

Finishing up the front end a chrome JDM Altezza Z-Edition grill sits between the OEM 2002 dark chrome headlights.

Around the back of the car Aidan chose to keep things simple and classy by adding a 2005 OEM Lexus RX330 antenna, a Nextmod TRD replica rear lip, and Kaminari roof spoiler, as well as dark chrome taillights to match the headlights up front.

What really sets off this car off, and what I noticed most in the passing reflection, is the stance which Aidan took  his time to carefully craft.

When viewing the side profile of Aidan’s car its nearly impossible to miss the Version Select side skirts which emphasize the healthy drop provided by Tein, Altezza spec, CS Version 1 (Gold Version) coil overs.

The car sits on Crimson Inc. Linea Sport rims (produced by SSR) which are 18×8 et +21 up front and 18×9 et+25 out rear with the front wheels being fitted with 215/40’s while the rear has 225/40 tires.

SPC camber kits have been installed on all four corners resulting in -1.5 degrees of camber in the front and -3.5 in the rear, combined with the rolled flat and 10mm pulled fenders rubbing is kept to a minimum.

The final sum of all these parts is a stance that looks impressive up close but really sets in the more you back away from the car.

The wheels fill the wells perfectly and the camber flows exceptionally well with the lines of the body.

While this car might be done for this season talking with Aidan I know that he isn’t anywhere near finished with this ride and plans to go around the car again over the winter as next season he has a ‘Baddest VIP” crown to defend.

Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2010 and enjoy the rest of the pictures and complete modification list below.

Big shout out to VIP Style Cars Crew for accepting the new little VIP brother to the family and helping me get more VIP parts; Yudi, Brett, Sharad, Ben, and Sic Ryde (not to mention the help in getting me into Importfest).

Sharad from SK Performance for the sick, super bright, LED lighting!

Virgel for helping put most of the car together
Sam from Formula Import and Peter from Nextmod for the rear lip and getting me my first JP part

Dave from Stretch and Poke for his support as I am there helping in the background for the meets 😉 (people stay tuned for the announcement of S&P3)

And of course Dave and Lyndsey for putting this feature together. You know I’m rocking the Stance is Everything Stickers all year round 🙂

If I forgot anyone, sorry, but you are all in my mind and thanks to you all.

Event Coverage: A Sunday BBQ

11

Last Sunday I was invited out to a pub in Markham for a casual gathering of local car enthusiasts. It was great to go from the busy car show atmosphere to a lazy patio venue all in the same weekend and just further proves that no matter how you love your cars the GTA has something for you.

The afternoon was a great opportunity for me to meet quite a few people I have interacted with online, in person for and see a lot of their cars first hand outside of the typical show venue.

The turn out was  pretty impressive as  well considering the weather was a little iffy. As the last days of summer blow through everyone is trying to squeeze those last few fair weather days of driving.

Since this was more a relaxing afternoon I didn’t take too many pictures but here are the few I did take.

Though I did manage to miss taking one of a certain red Subaru which I thought I did…next time sorry man 😛

Hell ya Pulsar!
Probably the most creative hood in the GTA
Still can't believe DC co owner Ken Block left Suabaru...

Event Coverage: Importfest 2010 Pt. 2

9

Here is part two of the 2010 Importfest Coverage including some  of the rides from the Division R, Sic Ryde and Nextmod teams along with the winner of the ‘Baddest Stance‘ category which I helped judge. Additionally there are some awards ceremony shots  and a couple girls.

Off the top I would just like to thank Basit, Neil, Dave and the rest of the judges/organizers who put the show on for having me out to cover the event and letting me be a small part of it.

Congratulations on a great 10 year anniversary guys.

Division R

Sam’s team had a good showing at Importfest this year, expect this team to keep getting stronger, and stronger as time goes by.

Czero’s ground scraping Matrix
Division R’s Jetta on what I believe are Keskin Kt-1s
Interesting way to show off a fitting award
Thanks for the love
Hey look it’s Jackie
Thought you were selling Sam 😛
Every time I passed this car someone was commenting on the stretch

Sic Ryde

Sic put in a lot of work for this years Importfest, his teams area was well put together and they won a number of awards.

It was great to hear the Sic Ryde name called again, and again, during the awards because like all of the teams posted today he put in a lot of work in the weeks leading up to the show.

Sic always reps hard at every event he goes to in a way only he can
Smooth two toned Civic
The Sic Ryde team had their JDM bases covered as well
Junction Produce M45 (thanks Aidan)
Owned by Kingpin
LS getting it’s leaaaan on
Sic honestly surprised me with this m3, I had no idea he was getting into the BMW game
This Benz was sitting proper, when it’s a Sic Ryde you should expect that
One of Sic’s two Corrados
This car is always super clean, also note the S.R. crowd control barriers
And Custom emblems
His other Corrado has more of a standard body, but I doubt it’s factory under the hood

Nextmod

Peter came to Importfest this year with an astounding 30 cars, 8 of which he personally did the vinyl on. Like Sic Ryde his team took home a number of awards at the show.

The caliber of cars Peter brought to the show now as a number of people scrambling to be a part of his team for next years Importfest.

I’m fairly certain I will be doing rim shopping at Nextmod this off season so next year who knows…

Clean MR2 that I don’t think I’ve seen around before
Same goes for this Infiniti
Nice 6
This car was dumped!
As is this TL
Look at that shine…
Nextmod/APH Evo
Nice vinyl application Peter
Peter also did Pearly’s STI
Not to mention the graphics on his own car
Peter’s color combo was sick
And so was the general concept
Dave (Steezy) was showing his love for HF, WFC and it’s JDM yo
Showing the 8th gen’s how it’s done while representing Nextmod
Pleasure meeting you man
One of the cleanest bays in Canada I think…
With one of the best Civic fitments as well
One of these two cars won best stance, if you don’t already know who scroll down a bit…

Awards

Quite a few people I know personally, or have met this year took home awards. I was back stage for this part of the show so my girlfriend was kind enough to take pictures.

Peter from Nextmod with either an award for his car or best team
Sam collecting for his Z
Sic doin’ his thing
Aidan took home two awards this year baddest VIP and 2ns baddest IS250/300/350

Baddest Stance

As I mentioned way back in July one of the new classes this year to Importfest was BaddestStance and Basit, the organizer, was nice enough to extend his hand and let me have some involvement.

My role was simple enough, let the lead judge know who I thought had the Baddest Stance and as long as there was a consensus among all the judges this person took home the award.

Additionally I was also given the opportunity to personally hand off the award to the winner.

The 2010 ‘Baddest Stance’ Award went to Mike from properspecs.com and it was well deserved. His G is the perfect example of how to do stance right.

No one ever sees it and thinks ‘it could be a tad lower’ or ‘the wheels could come out a little bit’ because everything is in perfect harmony.

Just take a look at this stance:

From what I understand to get in he had to remove his side skirt and lip, dedicated to the game!

Here are some photos from when I presented the award to Mike.

Explaining who I am while trying to to drop everything all casted…
Getting our photo taken, sorry I jacked your model shot Mike I didn’t know about the photo op, lol

Thanks once again for everyone at Importfest for having me out and it was a pleasure meeting Mike, Dave, Neil and everyone else I met on Saturday.

Theme Tuesdays: FD RX-7s

3

I know I’ve done this body style of RX-7 before but truth be told there are so many nice ones out there that I will probably do the same theme a few more times.

Sorry for the amount repeats lately but I am working on a couple of unique Theme Tuesdays but they take time to pull together.

Besides it’s nothing but love for rotary’s right?

It's not often I like canards but onFD's I don't mind
Big intercooler
Most versatile Work wheels?
Fairly certain I have posted this car before just a different angle
No tire smoke this time
Unique finish on those wheels, dig the sleepy eyes also
One day I want to go to an underground parking lot meet, see what it's like
This car has a lot of aero but the murdered look keeps it from looking too busy
The rear end looks just as good
MB battles?
Looks like the same car as above but on Volks
Never seen one quite like this before...
CCWS 😀
Nice car, nice shot.
Never lift.

.

This is so radically different that the rest today but damn appealing.
Hoosiers, CF, and an American power plant, do like!
And finally some appreciation for it's near stock form

Another classy model post next week?

Event Coverage: Importfest 2010 Pt. 1

6

The tenth anniversary of Importfest went down this weekend and it was really one to remember, the show was about the same size as last year but the caliber of cars on the floor seemed to be quite a bit higher.

The team entries were off the hook, the stage always had something going on, and the women looked great, not to mention the new best stance award category which I was lucky enough to have a hand in judging.

Today’s coverage is a little bit of everything so there should be a little something for everyone.

Please forgive the white balance being all over the place in these shots, the dim lighting was giving me some trouble.

This and that

There was a lot going on at Importfest at any given time and I did my best to try and take it all in.

I used to love these movies
The Importfest organizers did a good job of keeping the stage full all day with performances
Check out the crowd this model drew...
Wrestlemania on nes... YES!
Already showed you her front side
But here is the back, don't worry more models tomorrow

Euro

A little bit of euro today, a little more tomorrow

A nice looking e90(3)?
You don't see that many z4s at shows yet
Wide body GTI all the way from Quebec
Lots of dish front and rear, could be spaced out a tad more
I really, really, wish I didn't sell my rms with my e30 now, beautiful!

Nissan/Infiniti

Team Nine O Five Rides G35 sorry I didn't get your whole team guys
Hmm, maybe my mind could be changed about Pink cars

Toyota/Lexus

The Toyota/Lexus crowd had A little bit of drift, some VIP and a lot of Dragonball Z

The spotlight was on this Scion
Hopefully see this sedan sliding on Sunday
Check the poke out front
VIP crew in the building!
Aidan had to work to get into the show but it paid off, more on that tomorrow
Black is beautiful
Yes that is a screen in the gas filler door
The Tekken car wasn't here this year but this DBZ Lexus was
Super saiyan.

Mazda

I've never seen Mark's RX7 before I think I like it more than his 8
He took home best or 2nd best rx-7 if I recall
If I am not mistake a RE Amemiya kit that uses the Porche headlights
Safe to say this is the first RX-7 like this I have seen

Hyundai, Subaru, and Fiat

Yes you read right,  and Fiat!

Quite a few Genny's came out here is a clean street version
Duh, this is a Fast wheels Tiburon 😉
Tim took home a considerable amount of hardware at Importfest, he has had a great year
I am officially jealous of his trunk set up.
Team Refugee Fiat 500

Honda

Like every Importfest the Honda crowd came out in big numbers

Pretty sure this is the EL I liked at CSCS on new wheels, never seen BBS's this big on a Honda
More pink
Shinzo RSX with a unique wood grain hood
The clean widebody first gen crx from scrape
Props to the owner for saving it from a rusty nightmare
Civic on e30 basketweaves, though the caps look different
Rish's EK, went to a bbq thrown by him the following day
Clean hard top s2000
With an equally clean under hood turbo setup

Don’t worry this is only about half of my Importfest Coverage, check back tomorrow for the Sic Ryde and Nextmod teams as well as the awards ceremony and the best stance winner.

Windows no tints, cars, no rims…

1

With certain cars sometimes to make a heard turner all you need to do is drop them to the ground, the cars which usually respond best to the ‘just slam’ treatment are ones that are normally not in the hands of people who would put them on the ground.

Visually this Benz has no other modifications than a healthy drop, and if it never received anything else it would still look great.

If I recall this particular model of Mercedes is on air ride from the factory so all that really needed to be done was tricking the suspension into thinking this is ride height.

Looks classy and bad ass at this height
Looks to be damn well kept also
The only thing missing are the fogs
Loads of clearance

The title is in reference to a Jay-Z lyric by the way.

Part 1 of the 2010 Importfest Coverage should be coming sometime later today sorry for the delay I was at another event yesterday and took a lot of photos so I’m a little behind the eight ball in regards to photo editing/uploading.

Here is a little something as an apology:

I can't look innocent so I contracted her to do it for me...

Forgiven?

White Letters

7

I hardly ever post on Saturday, more so this early on a Saturday, but an s2k dumped on one of my favorite rims with meaty white letter Falkens and minimal stretch? I like this, I like this a lot.

Props to the owner and the photographer as both the car and photography are well put together.

Sure you could argue that this could be lower but I think this height works on every level
LM's and white letters? Dig.
Love it
Dat ass!

WTF Friday: Who keeps this in a forest?

5

Today’s WTF Friday is a sad tale of a car that was ridden very hard, stripped and put away soaking wet.

This e30 (non M thankfully) used to be an S38 powered full out track car which reportedly had it’s fair share of tough times on the track and now sits in the forest as a home for all sorts of vermin.

While this car (which is reported to be two 325s welded together) was probably not in the best shape when it was first put away that’s no excuse for the owners to let it sit and ‘collect dust rust’ in the forest behind their house for ‘three or four’ years!

I didn’t want my old e30 to see another winter under my ownership so i sold it, and this guy just leaves this car to rot… some people.

Fits right in?
The trailer is also for sale
My bet, someone buys it for the wheels and 5 lug swap
4 years, outside, no windows? Ya sounds like a good idea...

If you are feeling like taking on a big project it’s currently for sale on kijiji asking 6 grand

Site Updates

I will be at Imporftest this weekend along with Sic Ryde, and the contest winner AK

I’ll be hosting another contest for stickers sometime during the month of September and will have another feature for next week if things all go as they should, however it might take me all week to write though with one hand.

Flashback Friday

Quick flash back this week to Doogee does it again, Kurt’s car is still sick and he is building a track car these days but he still keeps his black car clean and shops at Stance Factory.

Style 5s often done, often dope

The ‘What Is Sic Ryde’ contest winner is….

1

First, on behalf of myself and Sic Ryde I would like to thank everyone who entered the ‘What Is Sic Ryde’ contest. Everyone brought their creativity and originality to the table and reading all of the answers was a lot of fun, especially for me since I don’t even know the true answer myself.

Unfortunately just like how there can only one Sic Ryde, there can also only one winner of the Importfest tickets and that winner is….

Sic Ryde
a continuously evolving timeless art of expressing emotion and passion through creativity and customization of every aspect and implementing it for the world to be seen as it drives by,
Sic Ryde is the cultivation of Positive Energy
SicRyde is Serotonin on wheels
SicRyde is the fundamentals of individuality, for those who follow and have passion for any ride, its about making it yours, about standing out and making a statement, expressing yourself so well that you are remembered, its about being in the game and impressing those on the sidelines, symphony of sound from the engine, exhaust and intake, from a purr to a roar that wakes Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and the rest, paintjobs that inspire, turn and wake Picasso, van Gogh, Salvador Dali and the likes, 0-60 times that the gods double take and make the speed of light seem turtle like and innovative styling and engineering that makes Leonardo davinci, Thomas Edison, Nicola Tesla and a few more wish they thought of that!
Sic Ryde is a Sicth Sense
Sic Ryde is the only Spiritual enlightenment derived from materialistic happiness
there is no imitation of SicRyde there is no distinction
What is Sic Ryde , Sic Ryde is never the same, Sic Ryde is the epitome of all above, Sic Ryde is as Sic Ryde Does.
One day the whole world will be Sic Ryde’s and full of Sick Rides!
Could you be Sic Ryde?
Sic Ryde is as perceived
Proof is only as believed to be given
As God to Mankind
SicRyde is to all Rides
Could I be Sic Ryde?
Sic Ryde changing the world one day at a time
Sic Ryde, Pass it on .

-AK (Ali Kamani).

Ali, Congratulations on your win and see you at Importfest!

For everyone else who has entered hope you still come to Importfest as Sic Ryde has offered to give all of the entrants a free key chain for participating.

You can pick your key chain up at the Sic Ryde display which will be easy to notice as he is bringing at least 11 cars to the show.

Free to all entrants

Once again thank you for entering and reading and remember, Sic Ryde – Expect the Unexpected.

Mr Ing.

5

Mr Ing has been turning a lot of heads breaking necks in his Lexus GS350 lately, he’s been featured on the scraped crusaders, has two long threads about his car on jdmrides and when we rolled in to the Nextmod 1 year every stopped and looked.

The reason his car turns so many heads is because a Lexus that looks like this in the GTA is somewhat of a rare bird and this one is in a current state of evolution.

Since this picture the splitter has been pushed in, the wheels pushed out, and the exhaust gutted.

Now if you don’t see him first you will most certainly hear him.

Floatin

Super high res version here

My girlfriend snapped this picture on the way Nextmod Anniversary BBQ myself as a warm up for a full feature on a different Lexus that is coming soon.
