While I could have easily saved these pictures for a Winter Wednesday post I figured it would be more fun to post it as a WTF Friday and show you out of town viewers how we do it in the GTA. I’m not sure if this Ferrari owner just didn’t check the weather when he headed out in the morning or what but he learned quick that a 355 Spyder is not really a capable winter machine. Especially with what I can only assume are factory equip wheels and tires.
I had enough issues with the 255 all seasons on my old truck in the winter so I can’t imagine that this driver got very far.
Everyone from this office was probably having a good chuckleSucks to get your Ferrari stuck as a public transit vehicle passes, at least we know the owner can afford the fareThis driver brought his out the following day, wasn't quite as bad weather wise
Edit: This image was originally posted at CarChat so credit goes to them for this snipe, my bad on the photo credit slip it was not intentional
Maybe these guys both watched this youtube video of this rich bloke driving his Maserati MC12 around town in the winter, who knows.
If you are going to take an exotic out in the winter make sure it’s awd at least:

90 new stickers tomorrow! I’ll be posting pictures of readers rides with stickers on Monday so feel free to send yours in before then, [email protected] if you don’t already know.
Features have been slowing down due to most people whipping their winter beaters or just plain not working on their cars now that it’s cold here in Toronto but I’ve got a few builds and what not I have been keeping my eye on so the content will keep on coming no worries there 😉
The time has come once again for me to reminisce about another ride that I remember from a few years back that somehow disappeared into obscurity. To go along with the theme from this weeks Theme Tuesday iI chose VW that turned a lot of heads in it’s heyday in the late 90s/early 2000s. This twin motored VR6 Golf is one of the first twin motor cars I ever recall seeing and as such completely blew my mind, I had so many questions I wanted to ask the owner but I could never find him.
While I never heard this car run or saw it move under it’s own power I can only imagine it ran because why would someone go through the work of putting an entire second motor in a car and not have it run?
I’ve googled for more info on this car a few times and I have only ever been able to find these two pictures. The Evolution Racing site on the windshield went down some time ago and the only current web presence I can see is located on mycitytoronto.com . As such I can’t really provide much more info on this car (I don’t really feel like calling and asking them about it).
One thing I did do however is google the known address of Evolution Racing and noticed that the current location may or may not currently have a dyno setup. Does this mean that maybe this car is sitting under a tarp in the back of the shop waiting to make an appearance once again? One can only hope…
Might look a bit dated now but this car was a show stopperI can only assume the cotton was there to cover up some unfinished cosmetic touches
If you have any info on this car or ever saw it run let me know in the comments, I’m dying to know more about it.
Well it’s finally happened, the first snow has come to cut down the amount of lowered cars on the road. Ironically the idea for Winter Wednesdays struck me in the summer and therefore I have been saving almost every picture of lowered cars in the winter as I could in anticipation for this winter. While some of us are fortunate enough to have winter beaters most of us do the lowered thing day in day out, Winter Wednesdays are a salute to those of us who do our part in plowing the roads all winter.
I plan to run Winter Wednesdays every week where there is a recordable accumulation of snow and every other week otherwise. If you have pics of your car toughing it out low in the winter send them through to [email protected], and now ‘The Bucket’
I’ve mentioned The Bucketbefore and while this might look like your average slammed MK1 it’s got more work put into it than its outward appearance immediately suggests. The owner is also kooked in the fact that he only drives this car with the windows down, but hey that’s my kind of kooked.
This car just ooozes style and dedication to stance
The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: Volkswagens
I think it’s safe to say that Volkswagen owners have always been on the fore front of this stance game and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon. I always have a lop sided amount of Volkswagens on my hard drive in comparison to everything else so it’s time to liberate some of my favorites. Don’t expect this to be the last VW Theme Tuesday.
I think VW guys are the only ones who embrace hub capsBoostBorbet Type A's are beautifulMurdered out with shineSomething about this pic, so clean so simpleOnce again green for the money gold for the honeysI think I have seen this car at a few shows in the summerI've never seen that Audi before thoughLM's can never failKeeping it clean and simple with a bagged LM setupDown and outThis is one of the better camo jobs I have seen that wasn't a wrapInteresting wheel choice on this bug, works thoughI am a big single round headlight fanThis one slipped through the cracks of the painted wheels Theme TuesdayHad to end this post with a bang, this ride is serious!
I’ve never been a vehicle purist, I am all about doing whatever it takes to get your vehicle to suit your needs, if a motor from another company fits under the hood of your car and can make more power cheaper than one of it’s parent brand then by all means put it in there. If you are a die hard Honda Hatch fan and an RWD vehicle fan at the same time and the only way to combine the two means sacrificing a clean CRX shell that a lot of people would pay good money for than so be it. As long as the end result is better than what it started as then why not cut, weld, and modify? I love off the wall builds and these two are some of the GTA’s finest.
SR20 E30
Ryan and the crew at Union Autoclub are not out to make any friends with this swap, they are out to make a competitive street/drift machine. As soon as Ryan posted pics of his e30 on Toronto BMW message board maxbimmer.com the crowd was split down the middle, purists on one side non purists on the other.
The m20 isn’t really anything to write home about so I am not sure why everyone has their panties in a knot, and additionally the guys from Union Autoclub seem pretty cool so I am going to watch this one progress and hopefully check out this car at a few events next summer.
The Diamond Racing steelies and zip tied air dam are the first tip that Ryan isn't the average e30 ownerSome modification requiredA little bit of sparkle addedFew friends and an engine hoist are all you need... where is the beer though? The red headed step child in it's new adoption homeThe last item on this list could get a little messy
This build can be followed on the Union Auto Club blog and I must say I am jealous that they have a nice and presumably warm spot to work in, wish I had one of my own my dads garage is getting mighty cold these days.
RWD CRX
This rwd crx build is completely insane, and I love it. To take a reasonably sought after shell (in this part of the world where Honda’s crumble to rusty dust) and hack into it to create what you want takes guts, confidence and fabrication skill. Aaron seems to have n short supply of any of these traits.
Aaron has embarked on a 2 year, give or take, RWD crx project that is going to be using the running gear out of a Honda s2000. Unlike Ryan, Aaron likes to keep things all in the same family and I have no issues with that either, quite frankly this car is going to be so unique when its finished that it hardly matters what is under the hood. The amount of fabrication and calculation that is going into this build is truly impressive. I check on this build from time to time and each time I leave more impressed than the last.
CRX mid dissection New subframe in place for the F20Did I forget to mention it's boosted?Incredibly well done transmission tunnelRear suspension progress
You can follow this build over on JDMrides.ca the images on the first few pages are down so I linked you in about half way through.
Tow truck drivers are an interesting bunch, I’ve had both the pleasure and displeasure of using their services at different times in my life. If nothing else anytime you get into a tow truck you are going to have a memorable experience. However I hate ‘chasers’, chasers are the tow truck drivers who race to an accident first to ‘claim’ the cars they often drive erratically and can cause more accidents themselves. Today’s WTF Friday is an example of just that.
The general word on the street as to what happened is that the tow truck driver in question was doing 140km in a 60km zone trying to make it to a fatal car crash first, in his haste he was almost in a fatal car crash himself.
The driver escaped with minor injuries and power was taken out of the area for a little bit but it was all restored. Cost the tax payers 20,000 though…
For the local folk this was Dundas/College way area in MississaugaIt takes a lot of speed to wrap a 1 ton like thisThat's pretty twisted...The driver was trying to avoid the bus and ended up hitting the pole
This really could have been worse and its a miracle that no one was seriously injured or killed. But man wtf 140 in a 60?

The Function vs Form article I wrote has been fairly popular and even got a retweet from Speedhunters which is great because I have been trying to get my foot in the door relationship wise with them for awhile, Bryans T-bird has also rightfully garnered a lot of traffic.
In sticker news I ordered 90 more yesterday the colors are as follows:
15 Black
15 White 15 Green 15 Gold 15 Gunmetal 15 Pink
Once they arrive I will let you all know how to get them. I am thinking about setting up pay pal donations this time just so I can put the proceeds into more stickers sort of like a perpetual motion machine. Anyway TGIF!
Just the other day I was thinking about how now that the weather has gone sour I really miss going out to Street Classics and Applewood Plaza shows. I’m a pretty big fan of older American iron so I was really excited when the [email protected] account and had these pictures BC Stance is Everything fan Bryan M’s 63 Thunderbird waiting in my inbox, his car is a real beaut and I am glad to be able to share it with you.
Bryans bagged 63 sits perfectDude in the hat is checking out Bryan's Bird's assI think my heart belongs to older vehicles
Thanks Bryan for sending in pictures of your bird, it’s great to see someone keeping the classics alive and proper.
For those of you who have sent in pictures of your rides rocking Stance Is Everything pictures don’t worry I am going to post them soon I am just going to compile them all into one post. Just waiting on a few more promised shots 🙂
Every day I like to make my rounds in the automotive blogsphere to keep a breast of what’s happening in other scenes. One of the blogs I frequent is Speedhunters. For those of you who don’t know Speedhunters is an automotive culture blog run by Electronic Arts, this blog touches on every part of the automotive hobby. Every month they do a theme, October was BMW month, and November was slammed month. Surprise, surprise, I was a big fan of slammed month. One thing I did notice via the comments though was that was that quite a few people were not fans of slammed month. It seems most of the people who were not fans based their arguments around function and those who were fans based theirs around form.
I think the age old function vs form argument is an interesting one and I look at it perhaps a little different that most. I think that regardless of what the factory’s original functional intentions were, beyond meeting the necessary requirements to move someone around, the final function of the vehicle is up to the owner.
Cars can be built a variety of ways; track rat, street machine, hard parker (show car), garage queen, dyno queen, knee jerker and so on.
This 240z that recently took the internet by storm is definitely what I would call a knee jerker.
Form: Exhibit A
This car was built to the owners tastes and it causes a knee jerk reaction. I am quite sure that everywhere this car goes the same few questions are asked ‘Why would he do that?’, ‘How did he drive that here’, ‘How can someone do such a thing’, ‘When is he going to paint it’ and ‘Why would someone ruin a Datsun like this?’ I know because when I saw it I asked some of those same questions.
One could say that the owner took what a great platform and totally robbed it of its handling ability by slamming it do the ground via Acura coil overs, sure, but at no point does the owner of this vehicle pretend it’s a track car. He built this car to bring a smile to his face every time he looks at it and drives it and as far as I can tell it’s working so the car is, in a way, being functional is it not? It’s new function is to bring enjoyment to the driver.
To flip the coin lets look at car that was built to put in a lot of track duty:
Function: Exhibit A
Similar to the aforementioned 240z this e30 was built to turn heads, however the difference is that it was meant to turn the heads of fellow competitors and people watching it slide sideways around a track rather than those who walk up and down the isle at shows. Sure the fact that it’s an e30 pick up would make it stand out at a show but little else was done to make this car flow together as one cohesive looking vehicle.
It’s interesting to note however that while this car now functions very well as a drift car it’s original factory function has been compromised. Non m e30s were built to carry people around in luxury, not to be track machines of any sort. BMW never intended for someone to lop off the ass end of an e30 and slide it around some pylons and corners. So if you want to look at it from that angle this e30 is now just as non functional as the 240z.
But I am not here to split hairs, we all know that cars leave the factory with a lot to be desired in both form and function.
As car enthusiasts we need to be able to embrace and appreciate at least to some degree all aspects of the hobby. I know sometimes it’s hard but stop and think for a moment that while we are argue with each other non car nuts are laughing at all of us for putting our money into depreciating assets.
Now with that my opinions on the matter sufficiently off my chest lets look at some cars that I think function and form factions alike will find appealing.
Function meets formThis z28 looks great and performsI've never seen an aston look badBoth capable machinesWho said you can't rock wide dish and kick it sideways?
The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: One Brands Trash
In the early days of this blog I wrote an article titled One Brands Trash where I outlined some of the pros regarding putting down the parts catalog and looking at some other manufacturers wheels for your next set of rims. I love this trend/look and I think it helps push creative modding.
This local VW looks amazing on these e46 m3 wheelsI know BMW owners who don't rock these rims this hardFlawless executionAnother VW on e46 kicksApperently this e36 was rocking these c5 wheels about 2 years ago, trend setter? There are quite a few people getting into the vette wheel game these daysStance Is Everything reader Dan rocks these Vette rims hardFaisal keeps it G on his Fat 5'sAnyone know what a set of Bentley wheels go for?I'd drive this over a B machine...I actually don't like these wheels on the Benz they come fromClassyThis Volvo looks right at home sitting on Porsche wheelsAn easy way to up the status on your ride is an upscale set of wheelsAnother Audi on a set of Benz rims, this time something a little flashierThe Porsche/Audi/VW swapping is a family affair
Being Canada’s largest bmw community maxbimmer.com is known for having a fewnicerides, however it’s been minute since someone on Max built up a simple, clean, low, e36. Doogee has been a max member for awhile now and every time he started a new thread with photos of his car I saved them for a future e36 Theme Tuesday. When he got a new set of wheels and spun his coil overs down I knew that this car deserved a post all to itself.
Doogee’s 328is has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last year or so. After being rear ended by a preoccupied young driver he took his car to one of the best shops in the city and got it repaired to essentially factory, if not better, condition. At this point the car already had a few appearance and performance related modifications however the car really caught my attention when he pulled out his H&R sports and installed Bilstein PSS9s.
Dooge and a local BMX legend showing of their clean e36sDoogee's ride sittin proper on K-1s with shave Toyo tiresDoogee's car in track trim with the PSS9s spun down
With an M bumpers, a new stance, Kosei K-1s, and a bunch of performance mods including: an M50 manifold, AA intake, Remus Exhaust, X brace, sway bars, and a reinforced sub frame it seemed like Doogee was just about done with this e36 modification wise and ready to make the jump to an m3 (some argue he might not actually notice a difference at this point).
That was until he found a set of oem style 5’s and lowered his car a bit more. His new look proves once again that not only are style 5’s one of the best oem BMW rims ever made (M parallels are another), but that you don’t need much more than subtle mods, clean paint, dope wheels and a perfect stance to look dope.
Being friends with a former black e36 owner I know how hard they are to keep cleanThis is fitment. It's pretty wild that we are in November and some areas still looks like fallReal men rock amber cornersThe body shop did miracles to this car, you can't tell it was ever hitThe side profile shows off just how serious this stance is, this car is perfect
While I should have posted this car multiple times before judging by Doogee’s sense of style, taste in mods, and photography skills this is not the last time you will see this car posted on stanceiseverything.com e36 owners take notes, this is how it’s done.
