Theme Tuesdays: Audi Avants

After last weeks Winter Wednesday featured the first Avant in this post long time reader Phil was practically begging for me to post more Avants here on SIE. Being the nice guy that I am I've decided to honour his request.

Orion’s Belt

Ford Escorts came in several very different flavors. There was the North American Escort, the superior European Escort, and then the Escorts second cousin twice removed the Ford Orion. A quick peek at the wikipedia page reveals that the Orion was a four cylinder motivated, UK only, saloon version of the Escort hatchback that didn’t sell particularly stellar or make much of a splash.

WTF Friday: Turbines to speed

When Honda introduced the CRX SI in 1985 they had a campaign proclaiming it to be a rocket. This campaign hinged on a 16 second commercial that showed it blasting off into the sky via cutting edge 80's video technology. The owner/builder of this CRX was obviously deeply impacted by this commercial because he saw fit to equip his CRX with a gas turbine engine from a small helicopter.

So what do you want to ask COR Wheels?

Since my last post about COR Wheels I've had a chance to speak with their marketing manager and things have taken a very positive upswing. We both agree that the best way for COR to rebuild their reputation in the community is to face the topic head on and as such they have offered an exclusive interview with their CEO.

Winter Wednesdays: Slush

I'm not much of a slush fan. It's dirty, wet, cold, ruins shoes, sucks to slide around in, and generally makes everything a grey soppy mess. Thanks to a fair sized snowfall Monday, and steady increase in temperature to todays high of 14° C, the city of Toronto is currently abundant with the watery slop.

Theme Tuesdays: GC Chassis Subarus

I promised this Theme Tuesday to a local matte black Audi driving friend of mine a few months ago and today I am finally making good on that promise. I've made an effort to include a nice variety in here to hopefully avoid some flying tomatoes from the 'can't believe people like ruined rally cars' crowd.

Featured Ride: Chuck’s 56 F-100

There’s something about American vehicles from the 50's and 60's that is universally appealing. Pristine examples of this vintage can be found in a variety of locales in which they were never sold, imported by those drawn to the style they convey and period they represent. Cars and trucks from this era capture a time when vehicles were built simple and to the point, not over burdened with driving aids, or designed with pedestrian safety in mind. They were constructed to look good, drive reliably, and withstand the tests of time.

WTF Friday: First Rule Of Broken Wheel Club…

Remember the 'COR Fiasco' involving Jalopnik, COR Forged, and a Mustang owner? I posted about it in October of 2012 and mentioned that with lawyers involved "this situation will probably get worse before it gets better". Well as it...

It’s not a #!%&’n Photoshop!

I posted a before and after comparison of this Icelandic 924 turbo on the Fan Page and a few people (somewhat predictably) declared it a Photoshop. About an hour later I followed up with another photo and still people questioned whether or not the car was real or a manipulation of pixels.

That Time Of Year…

...and by that time of year I mean the period where I wish I went to SummerNats in Australia. If I could choose one event for a wealthy dowager to fly me to I am pretty sure it would be this one. In addition to looking like a flat out awesome party the vehicles that show up are incredibly diverse and the burnout contest is, quite frankly, out of hand.

Vinyl Restock/Affiliate Store

On Friday a  fresh batch of stickers arrived from SechMedia.ca and as of today the Stance Is Everything store has been updated to reflect the new inventory. With this restock I would also like to formally announce the new Stance Is Everything affiliate store on SecheMedia.ca.

Random Whips

I've had a few of these low res photos kicking around the hard drive that I have collected from here and there. Time to liberate them.

Rotary work out

Local Toronto rotary driver Mike has had his RX-8 for a little while now and recently decided to raise the RX-8 bar in Toronto by installing a brand new set of 19x8.5 (+38) and 19x10(+36) Work VS-XX rims wrapped in 235/35/19 & 265/30/19 Yokohama S-drive tires. To keep his car from looking like a 4x4 on his ballin new set of wheels he brought the height down with a set of Tien Flex coilovers.

Who’s got more balls?

Rally racing is one hell of an automotive sport. Elevation and road surface changes are par for the course and when combined with unpredictable weather, driver fatigue, blind corners, and lots of horse power you are left with an spectacular participant and spectator sport. However you are also left with a question: Who's got more balls? The drivers running the course, or the spectators on the course?
