Event Coverage: CSCS 2012 Finale – Part: 2

As I mentioned in part one CSCS finale events are always some of the most exciting to attend and heading into this rounds CSCS I had visions of shooting the track coverage from different locations than I had at previous events. Sadly, a bum (fractured) foot, and a disturbingly cool breeze, put a bit of a damper on those plans and I spent most of my time camped at familiar corners. I'm still pretty happy with most of these shots though and shooting from on the track as a whole.

      WTF Friday: Celestial Beings

Last week Saturday a crazy looking   GX71 Chaser from Team ZLAY popped up in my facebook feed several times and I couldn't help but draw parallels between it and another car I saw earlier in the week on the Amazo Effect earlier that same week. Maybe it's just me who's crazy but while these cars were built for two entirely different scenes and as such are worlds apart I don't think they are actually all that different from each other.

      Calgary Stampeder

A few weeks before he was shredding tires in an effort to amuse a hot dog eating jagermeister aficionado Mike Smeraldo drove his Jetta out to Calgary to meet up with Mike McConnell. Put two Mike's with a passion for Volkswagens in one place, add a camera, and you end up with these photos.

Event Coverage: CSCS 2012 Finale – Part: 1

The CSCS season finale is always an exciting event to attend because while some are gunning to set records on the track others are looking to secure year end awards in the show and shine. For myself and several others the excitement began on the way to the track with a surprise emissions/safety spot check by the Ministry of Transportation right off the highway.

      Theme Tuesdays: Car Gifs

Since the 'Drifting Gif' Theme Tuesday I've had a bumpercrop of various automotive gifs floating around on my hard drive and today I am going to post all of those that are not racing related. You will probably have to be a little patient and let this one load a minute. I'm sure posting a page of only gifs is not exactly on the list of things to do to decrease page load times.

WTF Friday: No Hamsters Were Harmed In The Making Of This Post

Remember two years or so ago when an x5 owner from Thorn Hill went 4x4ing all over two innocent cars at the gym? Hilarious right? Well that scenario is slightly less hilarious when one of the cars used in the makeshift monster truck rally happens to belong to your better half.

Event Coverage: Roadmates Corn Roast 2012

My friend Keith gave me the heads up on the Roadmates Corn Roast a few Saturdays back so I swung by in the loaner FR-S for about an hour on my way down town with the misses. Similar turnout and atmosphere to last year, less about the cars and more about hanging out amongst cool cars.

Theme Tuesdays: Lettin’ The Sparks Fly: Part 2

Lately a number of people have been subtly (and not so subtly) suggesting that I should make the switch to air. While I have yet to make up my mind one way or the other I will say that the idea of having the ability to lay sparks down whenever I feel like is pretty damn appealing.

      Event Coverage: Option JDM 2012

This years Option JDM BBQ took place the same day as Berlin Klassik which put me in the tough position of having to choose between two events that I've never attended before. Like most of life's tough decsions I made this one with my gut and opted to head out to the one with free food which was Option's shindig in Markham.

      WTF Friday: Um……k?

A number of crazy creations have graced the  WTF Friday category over the last few years but this might be the most bizarre. This car, which I can only assume used to be a Pontiac based on the wheels and tail lights, looks to be constructed almost completely out of body filler and expandable foam.

So I had an FR-S For a week

Scion Canada was crazy  kind enough to give me an FR-S to test drive for a week and I figured I would be equally kind in giving it a 'real world' review. By real world I mean from the perspective of someone who is not tainted by the luxury of having multiple press cars a month, or pockets lined with riches from foreign lands.

Guest Coverage: Drift West Round 3

Mike McConnell hit me up last weekend to let me know that he was in Penticton BC covering round 3 of the Drift West series. It looks like the Drift scene out west is thriving and Mike is always great behind the lens so this is easily some of the best drift coverage to ever hit the site.
