      Event Coverage: S&P May 29th 2011: Part 2

Here is the second batch of photos from the first Stretch & Poke meet of 2011. Over 150 cars turned up to this meet which actually dwarfed a few of the shows that day. I am really glad you guys chose Euros for Part 1 on the fan page because it gave me a chance to edit the rest of the photos I took for todays much more photo intensive post.

Theme Tuesdays: When in doubt, BBS

Wasn't really sure what to run this week and I didn't have a whole lot of uniformity to the the cars living on my hard drive so I decided to go with a solution that normally always works: BBS wheels and a healthy drop. Classic BBS mesh wheels will never be played out in my eyes nor will LMs. However I did try and toss a few other BBS designs in there to mix things up a bit.

Event Coverage: Krown Lakeshore Show & Shine

Before Stretch and Poke I swung by the Krown Lake Shore Charity Show & Shine put on by a friend of mine and fellow Toronto Mazda 3 member. The show was family run and family focused so it had a real positive vibe to it, and it's always great to see automotive enthusiasts getting behind Sick Kids Hospital as they do incredible things (I am living proof).

      Event Coverage: S&P May 29th 2011: Part 1

Yesterday was the first Stretch and Poke! meet of the year and even though leading up to the event the weather forecast looked terrible (to put it nicely) somehow the thunderstorms held out all day and the weather was fantastic which lead to around 150 cars coming out. The meet was my first chance to see a lot of local cars and familiar faces from last year and lots of people have stepped it up for 2011 so I am really looking forward to the rest of the year. Here are some of the Euros from S&P 2010 meet number 1.

      WTF Friday: Too much?

One thing that always bugged me about the show Family Matters (aside from the obvious) was the fact that in the intro Eddie (the son) was working on a car that never once appeared in any episodes I watched. In fact the only cars that ever saw much screen time in my experience was Frank's PD cruiser and Urkel's Iseatta, talk about real bait and switch.

      Fat and Flush: Triumphant

Triumph is synonymous with quite a few great things: a song, a Canadian rock brand, a motorcycle manufacturer and finally the most relevant to this blog a British car manufacturer. I've been looking for something to post in the fat and flush category for awhile and this TR6 is the perfect fit. This car looks like it was made to live in corners, both on the racetrack and on winding mountain roads.

      Bus-ted

Not too long after I started this automotive blogging thing I made a few connections with other open minded car enthusiasts like myself. Noah at Hatch Life was one of these enthusiasts (along with Phil, Ant, Logan, and more). He is a car guy first and a Honda enthusiast second. His enthusiasm for all sorts of automobiles of a variety of different styles really knows no bounds (sound familiar?) and though other priorities took him away from blogging for a bit he's back up to his old tricks now and recently posted this bus that might be too good to be true.

      Theme Tuesdays: Opels

I had thought about doing a favorites Theme Tuesday on cars from either the recent Eibach event or Hella Flush 8 in Venice Beach but I realized that you have probably all seen those same cars all weekend so I decided to go in a completely different route. I told Ollie I had this in mind last week and like always he came through with a bunch of awesome pics to go with the ones I had saved. So together we came up with this fairly robust collection of sick Opels (/Vauxhall).

      Emotionally attatched

I saw this Mazda 3 on Work Emotion CR-Kai's a few weeks back and it really reminded me why I was so heavily considering these wheels along with RPF-1s. The look really suits the Mazda 3 and the color these have been powder coated really helps them stand out among the many black and white versions that are floating around.

WTF Friday: Great balls of fire!

Not sure how many of you seriously follow drag racing (I don't) but this video and accompanying photos have been floating around since last weekend and are pretty damn intense. Driver Joe Alsworth had a fireball erupt around him at the Super Chevy show after he did his second nitrous purge staging and everything went catastrophically wrong. From there everything that could go wrong did (other than him getting seriously injured).

      VIP GS300

I used to be pretty into car audio installations a few years ago (pre-theft) and even though I don't have an installation now I still find myself browsing car audio sites from time to time. On one of those trips to caraudiomag.com I found this Lexus. This Lexus is the type of car I could see a 'business professional' rolling around in, you know the type of person who still wants their car to look good but can't spend forever figuring out how to enter and exit a parking lot because they are off to their next high priced meeting and time is money.

      She’s a fox

There was a call on facebook by Kory Flansburg for more domestics, specifically Fox body Mustangs. I think any 80s babies and 90s children like myself grew up idolizing the fox body or 5.0 because they were everywhere with that super distinctive exhaust note. Much to the dismay of my girlfriend I still quite like them and occasionally threaten to buy one. If I ever did I am not sure whether I would Salleen/Dech kit it out or just rock the standard body like these two.
