SYLVANIA Canada, Feast Interactive, and Revolver Films just finished working on a short film titled “High Octane DRIFT – Presented by SYLVANIA SilverStar® zXe” that follows the 2014 Formula Drift experience of local Canadian driver Brad Carlton.
The event was filmed at the first ever Formula DRIFT Canada event at St-Eustache in Quebec and will give you a peek into the life of a privateer drifter competing against big name drivers.
The trailer his here now (below) and the full video should be coming along soon.
Here’s a shot of Brad (and Curtis as co pilot) doing a quick rip at the 2013 CSCS Finale
Several weeks ago I was alerted via instagram of a rear steer mini truck equipped with dually wheels, and up until last night I had completely forgot about it.
Since a few instagram photos didn’t provide much more clarity about the truck I did some digging online and managed to come across additional photos that really showed the trucks capability.
No information on the builder or anything of that ilk but the pictures do a good job of showcasing the trucks up, down, and steering capabilities.
Not sure what benefits (if any) rear steer provides in this application but it sure looks cool.
Berlin Klassik is one of those shows I’ve always heard great things about, but have historically never been able to attend either due to other events or personal obligations. This year had to be different so I sliced a few hours out of my schedule to check out their fourth annual event.
Held at the spacious Bingeman’s park in Kitchener ‘Klassik was a great day out in the sun surrounded by a well rounded variety of the finest European cars in the area.
The relaxed atmosphere, fueled by a DJ that spun almost exclusively 90s hip hop, really drove home the fact that Berlin Klassik is a show that I need to attend for the entire duration next year.
Luke was repping with the rest of the air cooled community
It’s truly amazing how well kept all of these aircooled vehicles wereThe little super charger on this Beetle had many eagerly waiting to see what it would put down on the dyno
The little charger spun it’s way to 57.hp to the wheels with 100 foot pounds of torque… roughly double the original output according to the builder
Another interesting aircooled was this Puma, A kit/option of sorts it was built on the Ghia pan and overall a pretty cool car to look at.There were a number of awesome Porsches at the show but the Speedsters really drew me in
This one was in particular was quite the gemThere wasn’t a spot on this car
Every inch of this car was perfect and full of detail that isn’t found in most cars todayClean e28 on multi piece Hartge wheels…with a little M power
Randy Sparre’s e46 looking great on the not so common BC Racing Forged wheels
What would a Euro show be without an e30 or two?
The Eurokracy/Air Society Crew made the trek from Montreal
Fairly impressed how well this turned out to be honest
One of the several things the Vag community has going for it is clean trunk installsAt first glance I thought these were Rotiform INDs but they are actually extremely similar ESM wheels
I believe ‘ET perfect’ is the expression the kids are using these days
Gorgeous color on this car I think it’s Sepang Bronze or something very similar…
This GTI has such a timeless look to it, great build that could be left alone foreverLast I saw this Caddy it was greenish and in much worse shape, props to the owner on the restoration
This car sounded mean as all hell and put down a very respectable 448hp on the dyno
Chop Shop’s R32 put down 495 HP at 13psi untuned
Always find myself taking several photos of this Scirocco…This Reiger wide body Golf was pretty uniqueIt had a TT motor under the hood with (I’m told) an awd setup as wellIt also had the TT dash… which was unexpected
This Jetta was sporting one of those 1/4 hoods that seem to (currently) only be popular among the Euro crowd
All four corners of this car were very clean and it had a very nice ICE and management setup. Very through build
This post seems wrong. Not because I am posting Toyota Starlets (which are awesome) but because it took me so damn long to do so. I mean the site has been running for 5 years now, and I really like Starlets so what the hell?
I must be losing it.
Start things off with a remarkably simple yet awesome exampleThese cars seem very reminiscent of go kartsOnly in Japan?Low enough to look good, high enough to thrash aboutI’ve posted this before but there was no way I was going to leave it outStatic or bagged I wonder..I should post more in the fat and flush category…Love this car, and this photo.
Spotted this car during my first trip to SEMA in 2010Again I feel it is necessary to reiterate how fun these cars lookEven this RC looks like tons of fun
Can’t tell of the wing in the back is on this Starlet or not.. original big wang gang?
Throughout the season I’ve been dropping hints here and there about my excitement for The Jalopy Jam Up. As one of the largest (if not only) traditionally styled pre-64 car shows in the area I knew documenting it was something I simply had to do.
Since the event promised to be both epic and unique I shot an email over to Speedhunters in hopes that I might be able to do some guest coverage for them.
I’d like to thank each of you reading this for the motivation to try and get my work out to a larger brand, and if you have a chance please go check out the post and leave a comment because I would love to do more with SH in the future and the post generating a buzz would only help make that easier.
Don’t worry SIE won’t be going anywhere, and your regularly scheduled Theme Tuesday post will be coming up later today.
While at Berlin Klassik yesterday I spotted (actually I was told to go check out) this Cummins powered Dodge Hot Rod.
Originally parked outside of the venue the organizers let him move it inside because it was causing quite the stir.
The body is a ’45 Dodge power Wagon, the frame is custom, and the power plant is a Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel.
The truck was apparently built in Ottawa two summers ago but came to the Toronto area fairly recently. It’s currently for sale however so who knows where it will be in a few months time.
Ever want the feeling of driving a Nissan S13 without looking like you are driving an s13? Maybe something with a little bit more class and some vintage flare to seperate you from the skid racers?
Well then perhaps the Misuoka Le Seyde is for you.
The Le-Seyde is a limited run (500 units) car built on the Z13 chassis that resembles the Zimmer Golden Spirit (a car which itself is based on a Mustang).
Generally Misuka’s seem to stay in Japan but someone managed to get one sent across to BC and it’s currently for sale on Autotrader for $14,850.
A production Car from Japan , maybe a handful in Canada . Will stop people in their tracks to take a second look. When you drive this car people will be turning their heads. The release was limited, only several hundred units of each model were produced; the demand for them was guaranteed.
In May 1990 Mitsuoka released an original Le-Seyde model; its 500-unit issue was sold out in 4 days.

Someone should buy it and slide it because that too is something they do in Japan.
Back today with the conclusion of the 2014 Reunited coverage, and since I cleared out most of the trucks and classics in Tuesday’s post today we will focus on the cars that made up the rest of the show field.
As I stressed in part one a key part of what made this show great was variety, so I’ve tried my best to represent that today.
From both a spectator and photography perspective I hope that Reunited retains this location for subsequent years because the venue really lends itself to photos that are more appealing to look at compared to your standard parking lot fare.
Car Limbo
For 2014 the vehicle limbo was brought to you by Nine-O-Five Rides and stanceiseverything.com.
Connor had no issues dragging his way through a few rounds in his new Audi project
The gunmetal Vossens really suit this car well compared to the chrome wheels it had previouslyRyan (pictured hopping off the trunk) tried his best to help Shannon make it through another round but alas it didn’t work
This car actually gave a few cars a serious run for their money, it’s much lower than you would expect
I get the feeling that the kid in the passenger seat isn’t focusing on the bar, or even aware he is in a limbo contest. He is now well versed in the spelling of ‘Street Outlawz’
The Truly Unique
Being a show targeted at such a large section of the enthusiast crowd Reunited drew out a number of unique builds. I know a lot of you are interested in the more left field kind of builds so I’ve showcased a few below.
In my humble opion this would be much cooler if it layed body over kitPerhaps the only dropped Pontiac Wave you will ever see..I’m not much of a fan of this chassis but the owner of this one did a pretty good job with itSomething near the giant back wheel of this trike caught my eye so I had to take a shot…That ‘something’ would be this, now I am curious how often this little sneaky pete shot is usedI’ve only ever seen this car at Importfest, so having the ability to step back and take a look at the entire car from a far was interestingIt’s quite a bit beyond my personal styling choices for a vehicle but you can’t deny that someone sure did put in a lot of wrench timSpotting an e36ti at a show is pretty rare in itself and this one was sporting a 5.0L Ford motor underhood
The new front end John put on his car really suits it. The big single headlights look great in comparsion to the two stacked smaller lights he had previously
John’s constant progression with this car is truly admirable, he just wants to keep making it better every chance he getsIt’s one of the best ‘built not bought’ examples in the area
Two Of A Kind
Outside of Erik’s car Probe’s are essentially unicorns here in Toronto so to see two at one show is quite the rare occurrence.
Making a rare occurrence even more rare was the fact that both of these Probes were boosted
The Rest Of The Pack
I’m actually not sure if this car even parked, I think he did a few laps then boltedI completely neglected to get a shot of this engine bay but this Cobalt is turbocharged with a 5-speed manual transmission swap. He is also part of #teamrecallLast time I took this shot this car was static.A look under the hood of the GTP that was in the limbo contest aboveNever seen this particular Silvia before, it was absolutely immaculateI see this car a few times a week on my morning commute but this is the first time I’ve seen it at a show. Very clean build and the vinyl strip is a nice additionThis Legacy GT looks really good on 3SDM wheels, nice and simple execution
Air VS. StaticThere were a few bikes at the show but this one stole my attention, BeautifulSK Performance brought his LS400 to the partyLooks great fresh out of the shop with new paintHarvin’s GTR is back on Rotiform wheels which in my opinion suit the car much better than the Vossens it wore at Importfest
Big Wang Rabbit Gang.
Big thanks to Reunited for letting me know about this show early on and including me as a sponsor, and congrats to them for a successful first event. Look forward to coming out again next year and watching this event grow!
Showcasing Imports, Euros, Minitrucks and most importantly lowriders Scrape By The Lake was one of the best shows in Ontario, and after hearing nothing but great things I attended for first time in 2009. I am glad I did because after my second attendance in 2010 the show was no more.
Since then no event has truly been able to fill the void left by the Scrape’s departure so one of the original organizers decided to launch a new show for 2014 called ‘Reunited’.
Reunited promised to be a spiritual successor to the Scrape legacy, and was a must attend on my list for 2014. With a total of 307 vehicles showing, including a healthy amount of minitrucks and classics, I wasn’t at all disappointed with my trek out to Niagara and I shot all day long.
Coverage from this show will be broken into two parts and today’s includes the classics, minitrucks, truck limbo, lowriders, and crowd favourite hop off.
Classic Cars and Minitrucks
Personally one of the things that made Scrape By The Lake so great was the fact that everyone came out and Reunited had the same vibe. Lots of variety and lots of quality.
Loved this Plymouth Fury, my only regret is not taking a picture of the motor set-up
Donks are far from my favourite modification style and yet I can’t look away……the wheels on this car are taller than the entire car beside itThe last time I saw this Buick it was behind stanchions at Megaspeed so Reunited allowed for a much closer look
One of the things I took a close look at was the hood-under-a-hood engine cover. Very unique approach considering the hood is also a great engine cover…
This 60s Buick Lesabre was pretty radI believe the owner is a painter which explains all the awesome pinstriping and art work throughout the build
I love the piece on the trunk lid, so true and so fittingParked beside the Lasebre was this Marauder.I might be showing my age here but I actually didn’t know the Maurader model went all the way back to the sixties. As with many 60s vehicles it looks great on whites and supremes
Went a little trigger happy with this one…This truck was absolutely gorgeous and arrow straightSpeaking of arrow straight the bedwork here is incredibleI can’t even imagine the number of hours that must have gone into this
Dennis Thorne’s awesome bodied s10More bodies hitting the floor
Reunited was this trucks last show in Ontario for awhile, it and it’s owner now reside in Calgary
Two trucks that perfectly represent different eras of minitruckingTodd’s truck has come a long way, and at this show he actually pointed out his bedsides which match the front fenders. Cool subtle touch I somehow never noticed…
The Dodge is actually for sale right now… not sure what the market is like for ‘mini’ monster trucks
I’m a sucker for a bagged dually and this one was certainly down thereThis showed up near the end of the event and parked somewhat far away from everything else, had I not gone on one last lap I would have missed itAll the suspension work was hidden otherwise I would have taken some photos of it.
Truck Limbo
Oddly enough Reunited is only the second truck limbo I’ve been to that took place on pavement, it was nice to see the trucks go at it without the worry of traction.
This was out first round, but still pretty awesome to see the attemptDennis pretty well dragged through every round, the roofline of the s10 ended up working against him in the later stagesBy the end of the limbo contest the plate cover on this Durango Dakota (duh) was toast.
This 5.0 powered Mazda ended up taking top honors even with the drivers side being consistently higher than the passengersI’m not sure who is better at defying gravity, the hopping lowriders below or the girl on the left!
Lowriders
It’s been at least two years since I’ve been able to shoot some hopping so I was pretty eager to get the chance to once again, as always the Ontario lowriding community didn’t disappoint.
Joe was another person behind the original Scrape By The Lake idea and it’s awesome to see him out supporting this new show
Ruben’s Chilango 64 took home a well deserved best of show at this inaugural eventJeff’s car post hop, note the rad fan trying to make an escape
This just might be one of my favourite shots of the entire event, the lowrider community is all about familyI believe this car was single pump……as was this switched by Jeff from Switches N ThangsThis car came all the way from Montreal and they worked hard to get the car ready to hop day of the eventOnce they got it sorted the car was able to put on a great showNaeem’s car never disappoints
Full interior, bumpin system and on the bumper everytime I see itJeff’s towncar doing what it does bestIt’s actually for sale right now if anyone is looking for a car capable of doing this
More coverage from Reunited 2014 to come later this week, stay tuned!
While kicking around a BMX forum I saw the following written underneath a photo of a fairly rough around the edges looking Jaguar E Type.
E30 m3 engine in it, builder and the photographer are both local riders. Love it.
When I read that I wondered why someone would yank an s14 out of an e30 M3 and put it in a Jaguar of all things?
As it turns out the poster was slightly incorrect in his description, but that doesn’t mean the car is any less crazy.
Survivor Customs took what looks to be one of the worst condition E Type shells in existence and plunked it over the chassis of a late model e30 convertible.
The E Type shell started out the roughest of the two halvesThe e30 however didn’t look all that bad, a little mismatched with the randomw MTECH II rear bumper but not badThen again…
On the way to becoming what some (not I) would call an unholy union an M50 motor made it’s way under the modified Jaguar hood and a custom dash was made for the interior.
The car is now cleared bare metal out and about and even graces the cover of the latest issue of Practical Performance Car Magazine.
Not sure if we get that here in Canada but I might just head over to the nearest Indigo and see.
