Event Coverage: Tuner Invasion 2014

4

A few weeks ago (on the exact same day as the PFAFF BBQ in fact) Ultimate Motorsports hosted their annual ‘Tuner Invasion’ show in Hamilton Ontario. Since I had such a great time last year I was a little bummed I couldn’t attend this show but thankfully Rob Anzutron did me a solid and took some photos while he showed his MGBGT.

Similar to last year this show had a lot of variety resulting in some well rounded coverage from Rob.

Theme Tuesdays: 2014 H2O Favourites

0

Having gone to H2O last year writing this ‘favourties of’ stings just a little bit more because I now know exactly what I missed.

Sure a lot of people have said 2014 was a circus this year what with the cops, the drunks, the boycotts, and shenanigans but if there’s one thing that remains true year after year it’s that the cars on the strip, in Ocean City, and at the show are awesome.

Today I’ve brought together a few of my favourite cars and photos so far. Coverage is still hitting the web so I’m sure a few more of my favourites will make the facebook page over the next week or so.

Outcasts

Lots of people are blaming the outcasts for the ‘fall’ of H2O. I don’t buy into that so I’m showing a few some love here

h2o_fav_4
I used to hate Civics like this but for whatever reason I dig this one, probably cause the owner is a straight up dude
h2o_fav_10
This might be one of the best looking ELs (or Domani if youw ant to get JDM) I have ever seen
h2o_fav_8
I’m actually looking to see more of this, anyone?
h2o_fav_14
It’s no secret I like a lot of s10s but this one is a top 5 in my eyes. Simple and clean execution, execution, execution
So good to see this back out again! The new color scheme is great too, as is the new air dam

This car was supposed to make it last year but didn’t, glad to see that it arrived this year
h2o_fav_6
I should have gone just to see this car…

Wild how right this looks without bumpers
h2o_fav_5

h2o_fav_7
Everyone loves a good Beetle
h2o_fav_9
I’m nearly positive that the owner of this car also owns this bagged Mustang Pace car
h2o_fav_12
I’ve seen surprisingly little about this car, but Trevor (vr6ts14) was kind enough to kick over this url which had a little bit more…

I feel like we will be seeing a lot of this car in the months to come… several photos have appeared already and people are just getting started with their coverage

Event Coverage: 2014 CSCS Season Finale Pt. 2

0

With today’s post we cap off yet another great season of racing and showing provided by the entire crew behind the Canadian Sport Compact Series.

I’ve probably touched on this numerous times already but the changes the CSCS crew made over the course of the 2014 season really allowed the events to run better than ever.

With talk of continued improvements over the off season I am pretty excited to see where things go for 2015 as the series continues to mature.

As I mentioned in part one for whatever reason I didn’t take nearly as many photos this round as I usually do but I’ll make it up next year…

Event Coverage: 2014 CSCS Season Finale Pt. 1

0

Waking up to thunder showers last Sunday I had thoughts of sitting out the final round of the 2014 Canadian Sport Compact Series, but on the strength of a promised ride along in my friends F20 powered Datsun 510 I sacked up and headed out.

That same friend mentioned that you can never really tell what the weather is going to be like in the ‘Cayuga triangle’ and those were true words indeed as the weather was warm and clear for most of the day. Mother did crash the party right as finals were running but considering the alternative, forecasted, day full of rain nobody really had a right to complain.

As usual the finale coverage is broken up between on track and off and today’s focus is the track action. I thought I took a whole pile of photos at this event but it turns out the coverage is a little on the light side, sorry about that, I’ll hit the 2015 season opener with a vengeance.

What is a bit of a surprise is now that he’s won he is parting out this car entirely… wonder what he will be out in next season?

More photos from the 2014 CSCS finale to come!

WTF Friday: It’s a Celica

4

There once was a time that I checked the Stance|Works forum pretty regularly, but as time went on I found myself returning less often and only to a view ear mark builds.

On my most recent rare venture outside the build threads section I saw a member’s rides thread titled T23 Widebody Celica on air with BMW X5 wheels that sounded interesting so I clicked –exited thinking I was in the wrong thread– and clicked again.

faux30_2

faux30_1

No your eyes don’t deceive you, while it’s got a bit of a ominous non de-script name the fibreglass ‘T23 Widebody’ kit transforms the 7th generation Celica into something that more closely resembles a Ferrari 430.

Interestingly enough the Celica and Ferrari are close enough in dimension that the kit (which originates from Spain) mounts up without the final product looking squished or horribly disfigured.

faux30_3

As you can imagine wheel selection is tricky given the inset of the Celica suspension, and the girth needed to fill out the Ferrari inspired lines but the owner seems to have a handle on it.

The set above were 2012 or so x5 wheels and the set below are custom three piece units built to his specifications.

The X5 wheels get my vote but I’m not about to split hairs on a car so unique as this.

faux30_4

faux30_5

The car is also on air and helping the build feel more complete is an extremely well done interior.

faux30_6

Most of the pictures in the owners build thread don’t work for me but here is an in progress build of the same kit that outlines just how much work needs to be done to get it all to work out.

I’ll likely never look at a seventh generation Celica the same again.

Theme Tuesdays: Gulf Livery

3

The orange, blue, and white colour scheme of the Gulf Oil Company is without a doubt one of the most popular colourways among autosport.

These colours obviously look right at home on their native race cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s but they also transfer over well to a variety of other 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles as showcased today.

Black Anvil Garage: #WIDEWAGN

1

There’s at least three fairly unique Subaru wagon builds gaining notoriety on-line currently and it’s pretty rad that one of them is not only from Canada, but here in Ontario as well.

I first saw Black Anvil Garage’s ‘WIDEWAGN’ at Fitted Toronto earlier this year when it was a combination of Rally Blue and Black.

It had a nice raw appeal in that colour scheme and I didn’t know the owner had any intentions of painting it until it popped up on instagram looking fresh to death.

WTF Friday: Japan The Land of 0 Fucks

4

From the outside looking in Japan seems like one of the craziest automotive destinations on the planet. They have every style we do and a whole range of styles we don’t, including several that North American’s struggle to try and understand.

Case in point these two cars spotted at a recent unnamed event.

japan_1

The Zlayboy Cresta I have actually posted before but the ‘Hot Rod’ Nissan Cedric is new to me.

I’ve seen these ‘Hot Rod’ Styled cars previously (most notably this one) but based on the lack of coverage I would say cars like this Cedric are few and far between.

As far as I know Hot Rod Styled cars are static which no doubt has an impact on their rarity. I mean driving aside where/how do you store such a car in a country where real estate is at a premium?

Event Coverage: Pfaff Tuning Show and Shine BBQ

0

Last Saturday Pfaff Tuning and the Scraped Crusaders threw a relaxed BBQ and show and shine at the Pfaff headquarters in Vaughn. The event wasn’t anything overly elaborate and focused on the most important aspects of a good shindig; good music, great cars, and exceptional food.

I didn’t end up with a ton of coverage over the course of the day but since all the cars were so well put together this ends up being a quality over quanity kind of post.

Theme Tuesdays: El Caminos

0

El Caminos get a bit of a bad wrap. Not quite a car, and not quite a truck, a lot of people dislike these cars. I on the other hand have never found them all that repulsive. Impractical? Maybe so, but repulsive ehh that’s up for debate.

The ‘Elco’ has made it’s way to the site before today, but it’s due time that this ‘caruk’ got it’s own day in the sun here on Stance Is Everything.
