It’s been awhile since we’ve have played the guess this car game and as soon as I saw this car it would make a perfect candidate. Having been interested in cars most of my life it’s fairly rare for me to come across a model of car by  manufacturer I have never heard of before (kit cars aside).

Noah and Phil are normally pretty good at posting models of cars I have never seen before so chances are they might have an idea what it is, and so might Ollie as he knows his fair of oddball cars as well.

Regardless this contest is open to all of my readers and if you figure out what today’s car is you win your choice of url stickers, let’s get to guessing.

This car has an interesting time period correct profile

I have photo-shopped out the watermark and emblems for the purpose of this contest

The Motor is normally covered

Here is a little bit of information to get you guys rolling:

-The country that made this car makes knives
-It’s one of 4 prototype
-That’s a Chrysler v8 in the cabin
-That is the correct color

Answer

Well the cat’s pretty much out of the bag that this is a Monteverdi Hai 450 SS coupé so here are the un-edited photos and a little bit more information:

This could almost be the front of the car really

Same picture as before just with the watermark left in

Door is ajar.

Painted in a unique shade of magenta, the Hai 450 SS prototype debuted at the 1970 Geneva Auto Show. It was the company’s first mid-engine design which had a huge 426 cubic inch Chrysler V8 wedged in-between the passengers. This radical specification helped the car live up to its ‘Hai’ name which stood for shark in German. ’450′ was the available horsepower and ‘SS’ or ‘Super Sports’ reflected its short wheel base.

Monteverdi initially planned to produce 49 copies, but production was halted after the two first examples. No orders rolled in probably due to the car’s huge $27 000 USD price tag. In the 1990s, Monteverdi made two replicas from spare parts that now currently reside in the official museum.

I will have to try and make this game a little harder for you guys.

Site Updates

No events this weekend but as I mentioned yesterday I will have some Jitterbug guest coverage up tomorrow and I have a mini feature for next week that I should be wrapped up writing this weekend.

In personal news, as some of you might know, my girlfriend and I have been looking for a new dwelling and one of the places we bid on last week (it sold) had some of the largest, most incorrectly designed, speed humps I have ever encountered.

If I went on an angle by the time my rear wheel hit the bump my front wheel was already down and I would practically high side giving my exhaust quite the rubbing.

The only way I could really get through was if I let some of my wheels go through the gap in the middle (each hump is made up of two sets of humps) and then drive straight over the other one and just have my pinch welds scraped slightly.

Either way it really sucked and had we have got the place it would have put a stop on me going any lower.

Thought it might not look like it this was the BEST approach.

Close up of the marks I left

But since it sold, I don’t have to worry about the above monsters anymore and I ordered up what I needed from BC to go lower :)

It should all arrive in about 2 weeks.

Flashback Friday

A recent email (more on that next week) has had me thinking about Subaru’s, which got me thinking when is the next TSC Hyper Meet? Here is a link to the photos from last year while I go find out.

Bomb Forrester from 2009 Hyperfest

Last night I got to see my friend, and contributing photographer, K.Sold aka Keven Soldo perform some of his stand up comedy routine last night at a local bar. He slayed and good times were had by all.

When I got home I took a look at some photos he had taken of his friend Matt’s 2004 WRX, in it’s last days of winter mode, on the Toronto Subaru Club. Mild mannered employee by day, photographer by evening, comedian at night Keven is a triple threat!

This car is sitting on STI struts and RCE yellows and has the power to back up it’s aggressive look.

Pretty sure Keven popped this locations virginity

Wingless WRX's ftw

I've gotta pick up a set of Hella Supertones, my stock horn sucks

We would all be fortunate if our winter modes look this good

Matt is part of the small, but growing Subaru crew called KTC (Killing The Civics/KrispyTimmesCrew) so be sure to check them out.

Subaru’s are capable cars that are meant to be drive all year round. Today we have two Subaru’s that are not afraid to be out in the fluffy white stuff that falls from the sky.

This first one is my friend Krystyn’s (who I have talked about before) old STI and I everything about this photo is awesome. Fresh snow and an open parking lot is always a recipe for a good time.

May this car rest in peace

The second of today’s winter Subaru’s is a slammed pig nose sitting nicely on some flushed out wheels. Whether these are Rota’s or real Emotions doesn’t matter what matters is this car looks sick and the owner enjoys it.

Pig nose really grew on me

As for here in the GTA it snowed last night which means my car got nice and dirty on the drive in this morning. Perfect!

This has actually been on the about page for awhile but I figured that I should make an ‘official’ announcement since as of yesterday he is now an official student of photography. I ‘d like to welcome My friend Keven aka K.Sold aboard as a contributing photographer to Stance Is Everything.

Keven, like my girlfriend, is not new to the site at all. He has been contributing photos and Theme Tuesday ideas for awhile now, and comments quite a bit.

He was actually the photographer behind the feature on Dales 62 Impala and he was a driver/shooter for the rolling experiment shoot.

Aside from his work behind the lens he has been a big part in my continuing motivation to keep this little project going as we talk about cars basically non stop and while his current car is at stock height he has big plans for it. His old e36 high sided on a speed bump once so I know he has it in him to create another head turner.

Look for more photos with the K.Sold watermark to appear here on Stance Is Everything and enjoy some of the work he has already sent in.

My gfs car, did you know lowering these is really expensive?

Pretty soon I am going to have to learn how to work my Rebel XT a bit better…

I first saw this Subaru posted on Noah’s blog but until my friend Dave sent me the link to the picture thread on NASIOC I had not seen any photos of it in action. It’s good to see the owner uses the lift as it would have been a shame for him to build it just to get under the skin of people like myself and the crew over at HellaFlush.

No need to worry about speed bumps...

...with this much ground clearance you could run over a small animal and not even notice

I bet the HF guys got a chuckle out of this

Flexin

Monster truckin!

I respect the owner for going against the grain but it sort of seems like he took his hate from one extreme and went to the other as it looks almost as silly as this.

However I will admit it looks like a lot of  fun drive in the mud. Thoughts?

I got a chance to tag along to the Toronto Subaru Clubs Annual charity show and shine BBQ in Mississauga on Saturday with my friend Kev, I always have a good time at charity shows since everyone is friendly and in a great mood. None of that super competitive feel. It also helped that all of the winners were picked by the crowd. The weather looked pretty dodgy aft first but managed to hold out all day. Before I got my current car I was looking at Subaru’s but they were just out of my price range, now I wish I saved up a little more money.
