Merry Christmas

Quick note to say Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates and a happy Holidays to those of you who celebrate different things this time of year. Hopefully you get to spend the time with loved ones and get everything you asked for.

WTF Friday: Matt Tracker

Am I the only one who's noticed a serious decline in the number of first generation Trackers, Asünas, Sunrunners, and Vitaras still on the road in recent years? It seems like 2008 or so rolled around and nearly all of them keeled over and died or got stuck in the mud somewhere.

A Visit To: Switches N Thangs

A few days after the Majestics/Luxurious BBQ Rob at Performance Improvements asked if I would be interested in shooting some photos of Jeff Forgione's Lincoln at his shop Switches N Thangs for the Autumn issue of Performance In Motion. Jeff's car --which doubles as the Switches N Thangs rolling demo vehicle-- has progressed an incredible amount since I first saw it in the hop pit at the Scrape by the Lake in 2010, so the opportunity to shoot it hopping in a private location wasn't one I was going to turn down.

Aussie Rules

It's my understanding that being a car enthusiast in Australia isn't exactly easy. The rules down under about what can and can't be done to a car are incredibly strict and the cars I so love to post her on SIE constantly run the risk of being defected (pulled off the road) at any moment.

Theme Tuesdays: Lexus GS/ Toyota Aristo

I've started and stopped this Theme Tuesday probably over ten times no with each attempt getting derailed due to my automotive attention deficit disorder. To help get things on track I asked Ollie for some help and together we were able to get this one done.

Battle of Attrition

Awhile back I came to the realization that try as I might living my entire life without owning at least one motorcycle probably isn't going to happen. The number of motorcycle riding friends I have seems to be increasing at an alarming rate and the machines themselves are just starting to interest me more as time goes on. I'm doing a good job (well actually my empty wallet is doing a good job) of fighting it off currently but if somehow I ever come into a windfall of cash.. well then Houston we've got a problem.

And The Winners are….

First and foremost a big thank you to everyone who entered, the best wishes and congratulations were great to read in addition to the positive comments around the site and fan page. It was also awesome reading comments from some of you who had similar pay it forward experiences, I know personally it's something I want to start doing more of in everything I do.

WTF Friday: Cosmo Kramer The Assman

Hanging around Mazda people you come to learn a few things about rust, check engine lights, recalls, and slightly obscure cars with spinning Dorito power plants. The Eunos Cosmo is latter of that list (though it's probably not exempt from the same problems at the beginning of that list), and is a pretty interesting piece of work all around.

Pay It Forward Give-away

This year while I in Vegas for SEMA my girlfriend and I got married after eight years of her putting up with my impractical cars, obsession with small plastic transforming toys, and risky children's bike manoeuvres. Though it was a surprise to many we actually planned the entire thing before hand and one of my few responsibilities was to arrange a vehicle to do the drive through ceremony in. After putting out an S.O.S. on twitter I immediately got a response from Las Vegas Local Luis Planas of Kreative Street Designz who had a recently restored 72 c10 we could use.

Event Preview: Tuners Against Street Racing July 12th 2009

On July 12th 2009 JRP performance and a group of dedicated volunteers will be putting on the third annual Tuners Against Street Racing, or T.A.S.R. charity show and shine. This family oriented car show attracts over 200 GTA car enthusiasts every year. The proceeds from the show go to Big Brothers and Big sisters of Peel who help provide the youth of Peel region with positive role models. Last years T.A.S.R. show was a great example of how positive the local tuning community is and that it's not all about competition but having fun in a safe positive environment.

Theme Tuesdays: Duallys

Of all the lowered/dropped/slammed/sparking vehicles I have shown people not into 'the scene' the two that provoke the most reaction are vans and duallys. With Vans people just can't wrap their heads around why someone bothered to modify a family hauler and with duallys they scream bloody murder that the truck is now useless. The funny thing is 90% of these people couldn't put a dually to better use themselves so I am not sure what the big deal is, these things look great on the floor.

Motor Monday: Plot Twist

This traditional looking 350 Chevrolet small block was founder under the hood of a not so traditional truck. Quite an improvement over the factory 4.3!

Event Coverage: Bvan’s SQ-1 2010 Kick off meet

JDM rides member, xxbvanxx, hosts weekly Sunday night meets in the Square One mall parking lot here in Mississauga. This year the kick off meet was promoted about two months in advance and highly anticipated. As Sunday April 25th finally rolled around the weather looked like it could be a problem, but it eventually cleared up long enough for 200-300 cars to gather for about 20 minutes before being told to leave by the local Police department.
