Winter Wednesdays

Last night I attended a Winter Driving event at Grand Prix Kartways put on by Canadian Tire. The overall mission of the seminar was how to be prepared for winter driving, in short get winter tires, have a snow brush, top up your fluids, and brake early. While I knew these things already it's great to see that Canadian Tire is trying to educate more people so the chances of getting wrecked in the winter is much less. As a bonus we all got some free laps on the track at GPK, along with some other schwag.

The last Winter Wednesday was in March 2010 which was quite some time of ago, so long in fact that some of you may not even know what Winter Wednesdays around here are. The concept is simple on any Wednesday within a 7 day span of snow accumulation in the Mississauga/Toronto area of Ontario, Canada I will post up a lowered car in the snow.

I heard on the radio last week that some official organization declared winter in Ontario over. I'm not sure if its really over but its been double digits all week and that makes me smile.

After I got in last night, from shoveling snow at my fathers place, I decided to torture myself and look at coverage from Hella Flush 3.5. I quickly found my self among the Wrong Fitment Crew crowd. After seeing a while 3 that caught my eye I ended up on SocalMazda.Net, a site dedicated to Mazda's in Southern California.

Wow with the holiday on Monday I forgot today was Wednesday when I woke up this morning. It wasn't until I was driving to work in the snow that it clicked and I realized I needed to do a Winter Wednesday post for this week.

Every year when winter comes around I have taken the lips off my cars, I take the one of my Mazda because it is fiberglass which gets really brittle in the cold, and I took the air dam of my e30 because I spent way to much time fixing that just to have some cold water mess it up again. If I had a nice non damaged ABS example like I can only assume this civic owner does maybe I could leave my lip on...

Subaru's are capable cars that are meant to be drive all year round. Today we have two Subaru's that are not afraid to be out in the fluffy white stuff that falls from the sky.

Now I know that some of you looking at this photo thinking whats so special about a square body s-10 Blazer/Jimmy in the snow. Well this isn't just a sqaure body s-10 Blazer (the best gen) its an honest to goodness GMC Typhoon! While I am sure the modestly rated 280hp/360 ft/lbs of tq factory turbocharged 4.3L Typhoon would be tons of fun in the snow in salty climates these things rust out faster than the electric gauges in standard Jimmy's will fail.

Keeping it short and sweet today since yesterdays Star Status feature was a lot of writing.

It snowed Monday night after I got home pretty decent but the weatherman says that the weather is going to be above freezing for the next week or so which means I can hopefully wash my car and have it stay clean for longer than two seconds.

We got enough snow in the GTA yesterday to make my after work commute to the gym fairly lengthy so a Winter Wednesday post is justified this week. It's also been pretty cold and when it's cold there are few things more aggravating than brushing snow off your car. What really gets me is the snow that flies in once you open your door, I need to keep a snow brush in my side skirt or something...

Today's Winter Wednesday pic is pretty much on par with the weather we have been having here in the GTA. Small amounts of accumulation and a lot of slush and gray. I'm not really complaining but it's not like I am stoked on it either. Anyway this 510 owner decided to have a little fun with the snow on his car.
