Importfest is coming up on it’s 10 year anniversary and the organizers have asked to be a part of making this years one to remember.
New for this years event, which takes place September 11th 2010 at the Metro Toronto Conventioncenter, are 10 new trophy classes including ‘Baddest Stance’ which they kindly given me the opportunity to help judge.
Hope to see as many of you here as possible!
If you recall last year I came back from this show with lots of coverage (and the Tekken Car!) so this event should prove just as good if not better.
Apologies are in order for the horribly cliche title, but I never thought I would ever find myself willingly posting pictures of a Geo Storm.
I’ve got respect for people who work with what they’ve got and make use of and oddball platform and this Storm fits the bill. I can’t recall the last time I saw one of these in person and this one is without a doubt the best I have ever seen.
Clean and dropped on widened steelies. Can't really front on that.Incase you forget where he started
Google tells me these cars are decent grass roots motor sports rides also, I had no idea…
Hyundai surprised a lot of people when they released the Genesis being a company with no prior sports car platform to speak of unless you make the stretch to include the Tiburon.
In 2009 it was tough to say how the car would do in regards to initial sales and aftermarket acceptance/support, however about a year or so after initial release it’s fairly safe to say that the Genesis has been well received.
Andrew along with the crew at Next Mod figured that the Genesis would be the perfect car to mod for the 2010 track/show season and together built the car getting the spotlight today.
Starting with GT platform the turbo 2.0 motor was allowed to breathe and exhale better thanks to a Grimmspeed intake manifold spacer, AEM cold air intake, Ultimate Racing 3″ downpipe, secondary cat delete, and HKS catback exhaust.
Other performance modifications include a a recently added inter cooler, Torsen LSD, RRM lightweight crank pulley, and a PowerAxel PowerX ecu re flash, and to add a little show with all that go the motor received silicone hoses and a custom paint treatment.
With all those mods Andrew has a reason to leave the hood upan updated underhood shot shows the inter cooler in it’s new homeAndrews hopped up and dressed up motor
Andrew can brake a little later for corners in his Hyundai thanks to KPR stainless steel brake lines and a Brembro big brake it, and the SMA coil overs along side a strut bar help keep the car planted during high speed maneuvers.
The running gear on this Genny are genuine 19″ Volk GT-F wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE 760 sport tires in 245/35/19s up front and giant 275 30’s in the rear.
For having no prior sports car Hyundai did a great job on the design
As the Genesis is fairly unique looking car Andrew decided to keep the body fairly simple choosing to only add a Canadian spec spoiler, M&S badges, M& S grill, tinted headlights, CF fog surrounds, and a Bliss front lip.
Lookin clean at CSCS
Even though Andrew’s kept himself quite busy putting in work on his Genesis he has also found the time to start the www.ontariogenesisclub.ca for he and his fellow Ontario based enthusiasts.

Toronto has it’s share of clean EK’s and here is another one I happened to come across on a local message board.
I really don’t know anything at all about this car other than that it’s clean and I like it, hopefully you do as well.
I think I spy a wink mirror and most def spy a Bride seatLooks like there are a few nice cars in the background as wellIt would appear Junction 90 has clean carsI hope to run across this car in person before the year is out
While not for everyone (they took awhile to grow on me) with a fairly easy motor swap or the addition of some forced induction the e36ti can become quite the little monster.
With the right aesthetic mods they don’t look to bad either since they are really just a smooshed e36.

With all of cars lately that have sticker covered body panels, roof racks full of whatever, rust, crazy paint and extreme amounts of stretch and poke I think it becomes easy to over look how great a car can look with clean paint, the right wheels, and perfect stance.
Julian’s wagon has been one of my favorite Subaru’s since the first time he sent me pictures of it. His show room clean paint, and dialed ride height allowed him to rock stock rims better than damn near anyone else and I now that he has retired his stock wheels in favor of Work 11R 17×9 wheels his car has never looked better.
Julian’s car was smacked up not to long ago but thanks to good father son body shop team you can’t even tell this car was on the receiving end of a fender bender.
The classic Subaru Blue looks so great sitting over those white works that I’m not really sure why I have not seen this car on more blogs than I have already (shout out to OMG Pancakes and I Put In Work for putting him on).
Regardless of what other blogs are up too I am always more than willing to post pictures of Julian’s car.
How Julian rolled on his stock rimsSmall fender pull in the rear, and rollin real hard on stocksNow though, game over.Rear shot looks perfect, the 17x9s fill the fenders wellI can't get over how well the wheel tire set up works on this carSticker says it allWhat more can I say?
Julian is also a pretty competent photographer so check out his flickr for more photos of his car and other Cali rides.
Gilbert, Matt and the rest of The Scraped Crusaders made their way to the 24th annual June Jitterbug in Niagara Falls last weekend and judging from the pictures had one heck of a good time.
Here are the photos Matt took at the show with captions written by Gilbert (the lead blogger over at The Scraped Crusaders) who’s not a VW aficionado but a stance lover none the less.
Rolling Shots
The best part about heading out to a show as a group is the opportunity for rolling shots.

It’s been awhile since we’ve have played the guess this car game and as soon as I saw this car it would make a perfect candidate. Having been interested in cars most of my life it’s fairly rare for me to come across a model of car by manufacturer I have never heard of before (kit cars aside).
Noah and Phil are normally pretty good at posting models of cars I have never seen before so chances are they might have an idea what it is, and so might Ollie as he knows his fair of oddball cars as well.
Regardless this contest is open to all of my readers and if you figure out what today’s car is you win your choice of url stickers, let’s get to guessing.
This car has an interesting time period correct profileI have photo-shopped out the watermark and emblems for the purpose of this contestThe Motor is normally covered
Here is a little bit of information to get you guys rolling:
-The country that made this car makes knives
-It’s one of 4 prototype
-That’s a Chrysler v8 in the cabin
-That is the correct color
This could almost be the front of the car reallySame picture as before just with the watermark left inDoor is ajar.
Painted in a unique shade of magenta, the Hai 450 SS prototype debuted at the 1970 Geneva Auto Show. It was the company’s first mid-engine design which had a huge 426 cubic inch Chrysler V8 wedged in-between the passengers. This radical specification helped the car live up to its ‘Hai’ name which stood for shark in German. ‘450’ was the available horsepower and ‘SS’ or ‘Super Sports’ reflected its short wheel base.
Monteverdi initially planned to produce 49 copies, but production was halted after the two first examples. No orders rolled in probably due to the car’s huge $27 000 USD price tag. In the 1990s, Monteverdi made two replicas from spare parts that now currently reside in the official museum.
I will have to try and make this game a little harder for you guys.
Site Updates
No events this weekend but as I mentioned yesterday I will have some Jitterbug guest coverage up tomorrow and I have a mini feature for next week that I should be wrapped up writing this weekend.
In personal news, as some of you might know, my girlfriend and I have been looking for a new dwelling and one of the places we bid on last week (it sold) had some of the largest, most incorrectly designed, speed humps I have ever encountered.
If I went on an angle by the time my rear wheel hit the bump my front wheel was already down and I would practically high side giving my exhaust quite the rubbing.
The only way I could really get through was if I let some of my wheels go through the gap in the middle (each hump is made up of two sets of humps) and then drive straight over the other one and just have my pinch welds scraped slightly.
Either way it really sucked and had we have got the place it would have put a stop on me going any lower.
Thought it might not look like it this was the BEST approach.Close up of the marks I left
But since it sold, I don’t have to worry about the above monsters anymore and I ordered up what I needed from BC to go lower 🙂
Matt Berenz hails from the Durham region and rolls with The Scraped Crusaders, which means that he never has to look far for a clean dropped ride to shoot, but Matt talents are not restricted only to automotive photography.
His natural gift allows him to shoot a number of different subjects with ease and he is also very capable videographer as well.
Currently working as an apprentice plumber and bike mechanic Matt’s passion for photography was initially tapped after taking a small introductory photography course as part of a multimedia design program.
While Matt says that his goal is to one day do on location model photography, and automotive shoots for magazines, currently he is just enjoying taking as many pictures as possible of as many different things as possible.
Matt shoots with a Canon T2I and has 18-55mm IS, 50mm f/1.8, 75-300mm glass.

Mr. Borges dropped me a line recently to let me know that his V.I.P. IS300 build is moving forward full steam ahead. If you remember last we left this build the car was looking pretty stock and he had a pile of parts sitting in his basement waiting to go on.
Fast forward to today and we will find that most of the parts have made their way onto his ride. Let’s take a look at what’s been done.
But since then an 89 Supra LSD, Fujitsubo exhaust, and the Version Select front bumper/side skirts, and TRD rear lip have also been added to the mix.
The Version Select front bumper looks fantasticNo gap all aroundKitsuna Knot, nice touchA little poke
All that’s left now is a little bit of interior work and some final touches (like the roof spoiler for example). Can’t wait to see this build finished and hopefully set up a full shoot.
