Ever wonder what would happen if someone went to your local automotive parts store (Canadian Tire, Autozone, Pepboys etc), picked up the accessory catalog, and proceeded to order, then install 90% of the products listed regardless of whether or not the properly fit their vehicle?

Well even if the above scenario has never crossed your mind this s10 is an accurate representation of what happens.

This trucks got a lot going on and unfortunately none of it good.

Brush bar pointing down...

Fullsize flares, small sized truck

Bed rails... on a tonneau cover?!

After coming across the pictures above I also came upon this video of some people having ‘fun’ with an airbag.

In my high school out class we blew up an air bag an old steel desk chair and the force of the bag pretty well ruined that desk.

Ever since seeing that I have stopped messing with air bags and truthfully I am always a little worried about older ones (e30 bags for example).

Air bags have a lot of force to them (I think they come out at 300mph or something crazy), this guy learned the hard way.

Well, I’ve been mentioning it for little while now but its finally here. This Saturday my girlfriend and I move from our apartment condo to a townhouse, and I have to say I am looking forward to the move and not living in a box kingdom anymore.

It’s been a busy past few weeks juggling work, riding, moving, and this blog, but things should return back to normal pretty soon.

It might be small, it might smell, and it might have a random desk in it but it's all mine.

Once the dust settles I plan to roll out a few changes to the blog over the next few weeks (nothing drastic) but first the store will be updated with a re stock of epic proportions including, by popular demand, the ‘I Like Em Dropped‘ sticker  available in: black, yellow, red, and purple in addition to the pink and white/pink which it is already available in.

Finally Saturday I plan on doing a hit and run of the Honda Tech 7 event at Downsview park this weekend so expect another week with lots of GTA event coverage.

Flashback Friday

My girlfriend mentioned that with the amount of time we have spent looking for houses, furniture, money (didn’t find any), we didn’t get the opportunity to go camping this year.

This is a bit of a shame because while sleeping on the ground kind of sucks cooking meat over an open fire and coming across random car shows in the country rules.

The 20th Annual Kirkfield Carshow & Parade was the one we stumbled upon last year and I hope the next car show I happen upon is just as impressive.

This car deuce coupe was so nice in person...

While thinking of what to post today it occurred to me that it’s been awhile since I’ve done a good ol’ guessing game post.

A big contributing factor to this is that I’ve got some of the smartest car nuts on the web as my readers who seem to know something about everything.

However I may have something today that’s been modified to the point where the answer may not be immediately apparent.

As usual first commenter gets a set of url stickers for being a sharp cookie, here is the car:

Can't show the front that would be too easy

I will also post this picture just because it’s very amusing:

I don't even know.

Flashback Fridays

My friend Crystal lowered her car yesterday after much prodding by myself which got me thinking that I should do another girls with hot rides Theme Tuesday Here is a flash back to the first one which was well received….

This picture, and woman, is e-famous

Speaking of VW’s if anyone is going to Vagkraft this weekend and wants a place to host their images send me an email.

I will be at the CSCS Xtreme Tuner Challenge show this weekend with my camera and bag of stickers on hand so if you see me be sure to say hi.

Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!

On the topic of stickers I have a new order coming which will include the popular ‘I Like Em Dropped’ sticker in a variety of colors including black, purpler, and yellow. Big thanks to Mat at Seche Media for fulfilling another order very quickly.

Watch out for a Sunday Random Dopeness post as well.

Last year I posted up a couple photos of Batman styled Porsche 944 I saw at the Cruisn’ for The Cure car show, and at that point I thought the owner was done with the theme being firmly established.

It would appear that I was wrong as the owner continued work on his Porsche by adding a few more details to the mix, most notably the winged flares.

Last Year

Last years look for the GTA’s Batmobile

Pretty tame at this point really, minus the guns

This could have use a Turbonique Jet motor

The interior before re model

This year

Quite a number of additions this year

New flare, new wheels and new door details

You know you have to respect his follow through with an idea if nothing else

This is a project of heart

I want to know how he drives around with this legally in Ontario

If you want to buy this 944 it is currently for sale at 6,500 here is the text from the ad:

Got a few events I am hitting up this weekend. The first is 100% no car related but has to do with a good friend of mine so I am plugging it.

The first is a comedy show put on by contributing photographer/laugh provider Keven Soldo and a few other funny guys:

Wiggin’ Out Comedy Show
The Comedy Bar
945 Bloor Street
Toronto, ON
August 14th (Tomorrow!) 10pm-12am
More Info

and the second thing I will be attending is the Next Mod 1 Year Anniversary which I mentioned in this weeks event preview.

Note since I will have all my sticker stock on me I will be putting everything temporarily sold out on Sunday just so I don’t over sell my stock.

Sunday evening everything that is not sold out will be back on sale.

Flashback Friday

Not sure why but I was thinking about this Civic the other day. I love the fact that it’s so subtlety done and so fast.

900+ hp and clean as anything.

Check the full Sleepin on ya

I go to a lot of car shows, as you probably already know from my event coverage, and doing so I see a lot of crazy things: insane and interesting motor swaps, slammed International trucks, and lots of scantily clad women are pretty much par for the course.

However what is not par for the course is what I saw at last Saturdays Street Classics Cruise In.

While slowly making my way outward from the ice cream truck I saw an older looking go kart sitting on the ground beside a Jr Dragster.

After studying it for several moments, trying to piece together what I was seeing in my head, the owner with a bemused look on his face asked me if I knew what I was looking at. My short answer was no (my long dumb answer was jet).

Would you do 12s on this?

The Kart you see above is said to have been built early to mid 1960s by now defunct company known as ‘Turbonique’. From my research it seems that this company only existed to strap rocket motors on cars and go karts to see how fast they could go down the track.

The rocket kart above is made up of the following vital components: two oxygen tanks, two capacitors, two spark plugs, a fuel tank, and a 60s go cart frame with a drum brake.

The rocket propulsion system (words I never thought I would type) is a closed system which the owner says could theoretically run underwater and in space since it doesn’t require fuel from the atmosphere.

When I asked the next natural question ‘how fast is it’ the owner told me that each of the rockets put out 300 pounds of thrust and the car would rip down the 1/4 mile in around 9 seconds at about 150 or so MPH.

Sounds fun? Well it probably was if you stated on the ground. To quote one of the sites I read to get a little more info:

According to all accounts this kart went from zero to 150mph in 4 seconds before becoming airborne and sliding out of control.

600 pounds of thrust no safety gear

The owner went on to say that the motors were on or off and that they were designed to burn all of the fuel in one 1/4 mile pass.  The drum brake the kart is fitted was more or less for show and so you had to make sure that the track you were running on had enough run out to keep you from pancaking into something.

The drivers wore a flame suit, helmet, and gloves and tossed their common sense out the window and held on for the ride.

So I believe those are the 2 oxygen tanks on either side with the capacitors in the midde which spark the plugs

Here’s the real kicker about this whole thing, the now owner says that he got it at a garage sale after several people passed it up, and while he wouldn’t say how much he payed I am guessing it was a lot less than what it’s currently worth considering they sold for about $1500 back then and there were only 5 or 6 said to have been built with only 3 or so remaining.

I have reason to believe this same cart has been spotted before in Florida as well damn.

Site Updates

It’s been pretty quiet week. I’ve been slowly rolling out slight functionality/seo tweaks to the over all site but other than that nothing to out of the norm has happened.
I’ve sent a draft off to a photographer for approval and scoped out a photo shoot location for an upcoming featured ride yesterday was well.

Basically just keeping it rollin.

Flashback Friday

While not anywhere near as crazy as the kart posted above the last twin motored vehicle I posted was the Evolution Racing Twin Motor VR6.

Other than the amount of motors the only real similarity here is that I have never seen either move under their own power in person.

If you know where this car is holler.

Take a small car (preferably)rear wheel drive car, strip out basically everything, add a roll cage and a fire extinguisher (do not add giant roof wing), and proceed to only turn one direction on a natural race track surface and what do you have?

Well, apparently, you have Britain’s most popular form of grass roots motor sport, Autograss.

I just found out about Autograss last week and with tons of classes for every level of racer (both financial level and skill wise) Autograss looks like a great way to have a lot of relativity cheap fun. I want in!

Sure, right now it’s done with cars we don’t generally have here in North America but I’m pretty sure a Chevrolet Chevette would do just fine  (provided it had not rusted completely out by the time it hit the track) and they go for $1000 or less these days.

Dear god this looks fun

It's all about the power to weight ratio.. and lack of traction

Hammer down!

If for whatever reason the above pictures didn’t peak your interest take a look at the video below and tell me this doesn’t look like a ton of fun.

So far survived my intense week long training at work and managed to get posts out every day regardless so things should be easy going in the  weeks to come. Thankfully this weekend is a long one so I will be able to get caught up with writing and shooting some features that should be really exciting.

In other news, recently Seche Media and Stretch and Poke sent me a bunch of stickers, and I have some coming from ‘It’s JDM Yo!‘ as well so once they all arrive I think I am going to put together a sticker pack and have some sort of contest to win a few of my surplus.

Stickers thanks to sechemedia.ca

Stickers thanks to Stretch and Poke

Flashback Friday

All the talk of Chevette’s above reminded me of this video, which reminded me of the Wheel Stand Fun WTF Friday I did last August.

Gotta go out to Grand Bend Drag Strip this year.

I had a few other things in mind to post today and those will have to wait until next week because as soon as I saw this video I busted up laughing.

This is what happens when a few guys and one girl try and load a Civic EG on the back of a U-haul using dodgy ass ramps.

After watching the video if anyone can answer the following questions I would appreciate it:

1) Why didn’t a guy drive? He already had a lot of friends helping why not get one more to drive so when it all did fail he didn’t have to flip on his lady.
2) Why a U haul???
3) How did he honestly expect those ramps to hold? They fell apart like a house of cards when the car hit.
4) Why were they filming?
5) How was she going to get out after?
6) Why did she turn? :P

This weekend should be a quiet one event wise. Don’t really have any in mind and I could use a weekend to recover after last weekends crazy cottage, drinking, riding, car show extravaganza.

That doesn’t mean things will be quiet around here though! I’ve got a special Friday double feature lined up for later today so expect that mid afternoon/early evening. I’ve also got a new sticker shipment arriving today so the store will be restocked with goodies tomorrow.

Finally, next week will be a bit of a crazy one for me as I am doing off site training at work which involves me getting up a little earlier than I do now.

I have a few posts ready to go already but don’t be surprised if it takes me a little longer to respond/approve comments. After next week it’s back to buisness as usual though.

Flashback Friday

I’m currently at my moms place right now waiting for my dad to get out of surgery and on the old laptop I have here for such occasions I have these two cars below as my desktop.

I forgot how much I love both of these cars.

Ladies in red, just like Jessica Rabbit.

Why did she turn!?

Making one car look like another is fairly hard (unless you start with a Fiero) so I am not sure why companies keep presumably mass marketing kits to do so, furthermore I’m really perplexed as to why the figured to manufacture these kits for 4th Gen Camaros.

Perhaps because this gen of Camaro was kinda meh? Regardless I don’t think any deserve to end up a little confused like this one.

I guess this is trying to look like a Bel Air?

If the wheels don't ruin it

and if the wheels didn't the roof line sure did

Sigh

Bonus: WTF Kind of ticket is this

My girlfriend came home yesterday with this complete waste of time ticket.

I know... women drivers right?

Yes you are reading that correctly the ticket is $3.75 and the admin fees are $15.00 I didn’t even know that was possible all my tickets have been several hundreds of dollars lol.

Some fans out in Cali contacted me about a double feature and I am really looking forward to getting it (started and then) finished because I think you guys are going enjoy there cars.

I’ve also been hitting up local photographers for more features and everyone seems really excited to do it so look out for a few more shutterbugs on here.

Finally I will be at Scrape By The Lake this weekend (after a trip to the cottage) where I will have my first real media pass. I had a lot of fun last year so I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble fun I get into with a closer view of the bikini models.

Flashback Friday

Since I am going this weekend flash back to last years Scrape By The Lake event coverage. There are three pages of coverage here and I should come back with at least that much again.

Bikin Contests are fun, sorry ladies

It’s been awhile since we’ve have played the guess this car game and as soon as I saw this car it would make a perfect candidate. Having been interested in cars most of my life it’s fairly rare for me to come across a model of car by  manufacturer I have never heard of before (kit cars aside).

Noah and Phil are normally pretty good at posting models of cars I have never seen before so chances are they might have an idea what it is, and so might Ollie as he knows his fair of oddball cars as well.

Regardless this contest is open to all of my readers and if you figure out what today’s car is you win your choice of url stickers, let’s get to guessing.

This car has an interesting time period correct profile

I have photo-shopped out the watermark and emblems for the purpose of this contest

The Motor is normally covered

Here is a little bit of information to get you guys rolling:

-The country that made this car makes knives
-It’s one of 4 prototype
-That’s a Chrysler v8 in the cabin
-That is the correct color

Answer

Well the cat’s pretty much out of the bag that this is a Monteverdi Hai 450 SS coupé so here are the un-edited photos and a little bit more information:

This could almost be the front of the car really

Same picture as before just with the watermark left in

Door is ajar.

Painted in a unique shade of magenta, the Hai 450 SS prototype debuted at the 1970 Geneva Auto Show. It was the company’s first mid-engine design which had a huge 426 cubic inch Chrysler V8 wedged in-between the passengers. This radical specification helped the car live up to its ‘Hai’ name which stood for shark in German. ’450′ was the available horsepower and ‘SS’ or ‘Super Sports’ reflected its short wheel base.

Monteverdi initially planned to produce 49 copies, but production was halted after the two first examples. No orders rolled in probably due to the car’s huge $27 000 USD price tag. In the 1990s, Monteverdi made two replicas from spare parts that now currently reside in the official museum.

I will have to try and make this game a little harder for you guys.

Site Updates

No events this weekend but as I mentioned yesterday I will have some Jitterbug guest coverage up tomorrow and I have a mini feature for next week that I should be wrapped up writing this weekend.

In personal news, as some of you might know, my girlfriend and I have been looking for a new dwelling and one of the places we bid on last week (it sold) had some of the largest, most incorrectly designed, speed humps I have ever encountered.

If I went on an angle by the time my rear wheel hit the bump my front wheel was already down and I would practically high side giving my exhaust quite the rubbing.

The only way I could really get through was if I let some of my wheels go through the gap in the middle (each hump is made up of two sets of humps) and then drive straight over the other one and just have my pinch welds scraped slightly.

Either way it really sucked and had we have got the place it would have put a stop on me going any lower.

Thought it might not look like it this was the BEST approach.

Close up of the marks I left

But since it sold, I don’t have to worry about the above monsters anymore and I ordered up what I needed from BC to go lower :)

It should all arrive in about 2 weeks.

Flashback Friday

A recent email (more on that next week) has had me thinking about Subaru’s, which got me thinking when is the next TSC Hyper Meet? Here is a link to the photos from last year while I go find out.

Bomb Forrester from 2009 Hyperfest

This has been a crazy week for the Toronto area, the upcoming G8 and G20 summits have turned the downtown core into a media and security frenzy. In close proximity to the summit you have a mix of people who don’t care, people who care too much, and police in riot gear all milling around, and as if things were not volatile enough mother nature decided Wednesday would be a great day for an earthquake.

The ground shaking must have jarred some things loose in this local nut’s brain because he was caught cruising around in Hyundai with a crazy home made container on his roof filled with weapons, details inside.

Here is the blogTO article I read on the incident which linked to the globe and mail.

A man has been arrested near Scott Street and The Esplanade for driving a vehicle with an arsenal of weapons.

Police seized a crossbow, five arrows, a sledgehammer, a pick-axe, a chainsaw, a baseball bat, a gasoline canister, and a cola bottle from the driver’s silver Hyundai.

The vehicle was outfitted with a homemade steel container tied to the roof and a bumper tied on with string. Police also found a copy of “100 ways to Make Money on the Internet,” in the car.

EDIT: Turns out that the guy has some mental health issues and was living out of his car, thus making this a lot less weird.

Thanks to Matt for pointing this out, more info can be found here.

As you can see he was rolling with a pretty serious arsenal of weapons the craziest (to me) being a cross bow, who the hell has a cross bow in 2010?

Pictures of the death mobile and it’s weapons below:

I wonder if this type of roof rack/contraption will become popular among the stance crowd?

Hazardous material of various types were just chilling in his trunk, no big deal.

Do people normally have cross bows? Any of you guys own a cross bow?

Normally I wouldn't assume a man like this dangerous...

Site Updates

The store has been updated if you didn’t notice and I’ve been busy again sending out sticker which is awesome. I might try and tally up how many I have sold latley to get an idea of just how many S.I.E. stickers are floating around in the wild.

Event wise this weekend I will be attending the Voice Coil Meltdown show to cover and sponsor it.  I am looking forward to meeting the Division R guys in person.

I’m also going to try and get my coverage of the Classics Against Cancer show up tomorrow as as I did not have a chance to get the photos edited this week.

Feature wise I have a photographer feature lined up for next week along with a mini featured ride, getting busy around here…

Finally BC racing and I have figured out what I need to do to get lower and I expect the parts to ship out soon. I should be the only Mazda 3 on this set up once everything arrives.

Flashback Friday

Since Toronto has it’s own villain above we need our own superhero to take care of him. Thank heavens we have our own Dark Knight!

I saw this car at last years Classics Against Cancer Show and it made me chuckle. Never did I think we might be need of his services though.

nannananana Batman, Batman, Batman....

Watch out for the water/sound cannons if you are protesting this weekend in the GTA.

Jet ski’s are a lot of fun, provided you don’t flip them in the middle of the lake and have to get towed by a fishing boat back in to fix it, but getting them to and from the lake can be a bit of a challenge.

Getting it out of a lake becomes more of challenge if you don’t have a proper trailer to do so. These two guys almost had a method worked out to but then mother nature, gravity, and common sense took over which resulted in a nice little fail.

From what I’m told they are doing a lot of swearing in french:

Bonus!

Saw this on Farm Of Minds and had to put it up, these crashes are wild.

Site Updates

Seche Media has confirmed that my new stickers have shipped out and they should be here as early as tonight or as late as Monday.

Either way I am really excited to see what they come out like as I have some special edition ones for Voice Coil Meltdown as well as 2 tone I like em dropped stickers.

Once I get the new shipment expect an update post.

Event wise I am thinking about taking my old man to the Classics Against Cancer car show this Sunday for Fathers day.

Tonight I am going to take some pictures at the meeting spot of the Maxbimmer midnight cruise, pretty sure Keven is rolling with me to this as well so it should be good times.

I’ve also got a few emails to respond to so if I have not yet don’t worry I read all the emails I get and will response soon it’s just been a busy week. Lots of readers rides coming soon which is awesome.

Finally here is my status with BC-Racing regarding getting my car down another .5 of an inch in the front.

We will be doing a test fit btwn now and then to confirm there will be no issues.
Mike

Cross your fingers for me.

Flashback Friday

I’ve been thinking I should get my iphone out and snap more street finds lately so to remind myself I figured I should shine some light on one of the more unique ones I spotted last year. This Koenig-Special widebody benz.

Straight 80s drug dealer

Have a great weekend, feel free to detail your car like me tomorrow and feel my pain.
