Sweden Stays Down

Since posting Richard's ride Monday my mailbox has been buzzing more fine cars from Sweden, but before I get to those I have to spin it back a bit to a car that I actually saw for the first time in August. Somehow the car ended up getting lost in the shuffle of event coverage until I was reminded of it yesterday.

Product Review: SK Performance LED Lighting

While I've always done basic exterior lighting modifications to all of the vehicles I've owned I had previously never upgraded to exterior LEDS or addressed my interior lighting. With my 3 I chose to upgrade all of my interior bulbs and some of my exterior bulbs to SK Performance LED units. After the upgrade I now realize how inadequate (and yellow) the factory lighting Mazda shipped the car with actually is.

Theme Tuesdays: Widebody American

When the subject of wide bodies comes up in the circles I travel in people rarely ever mention American examples. Probably because euro and JDM widebody builds are much easier to find online, at shows, and on the track, but if you look hard enough American builds are plentiful. Several of them dating back to when fuel efficiency wasn't considered and there was no replacement for displacement.

Sweden gets down

It's still a little shocking how popular this Canadian based blog with predominately North American content is on a global scale. I'm not complaining of course because this global appeal is how awesome cars like this dub which belongs to Richard "Mingan" HÃ¥veland of Sweden show up in my inbox.

WTF Friday: Rocket Karts Continued

Some of you might remember when I stumbled upon a Turbonique rocket powered go kart for the first time last August at a Street Classics Cruise in. The original WTF Friday post I did on that kart shortly has been one of the most popular posts on the site, period. It has drawn collectors from all over looking to exchange information about these extremely rare pieces of drag racing history and automotive ridiculousness.

Sterling

Calgary correspondent (aka nice guy with beard and camera) Mike McConnell of MDM Visuals got in touch with me recently about a new set of photos he had taken of an exceptionally clean air cooled bug. His message was pretty simple 'pick your favorites and go nuts'. Choosing my favorites ended up being a little harder than I thought as this simple shoot yielded excellent results.

Pink is for…

There are a number of different ways I could finish that title and while I posted a mammary filled video on the fan page yesterday my intentions are to keep this blog (mostly) safe for work, so in this case pink is for eye catching. Which just so happens to be a great way to describe Bryan's Pink DC Interga that sports a completely custom and fairly subtle all metal wide body. Being able to keep things clean while rocking such a bright color can be tough but Bryan has got it down to a tee.

Fat and Flush: Butch King

I've got a thing for s10s, Sonomas, Blazers, Jimmys, Sy's and Ty's. Those who know me know this, and if you have been reading for awhile you have probably also noticed this as I am no stranger to posting S trucks. However most of the ones I post are not exactly fast (in anything other than a straight line) and wouldn't exactly fall in the Fat and Flush category. This is nowhere ordinary Blazer though, it is a fire breathing, hill course eating, monster.

Theme Tuesdays: Wagovans

Do you think when Honda designed the Wagovan they expected it to be as popular as they are now? Maybe popular isn't the right word but they certainly have amassed a dedicated group of followers. To be honest I never saw much potential in the Wagovan until sometime early 2000 when the second to last one in today's post came along and opened my eyes to what could be with this unique, incredibly boxy, vehicle.

Event Coverage: Mega Speed Part 1

Being one of my favorite shows in the area I was pretty worried when I heard that Performance World was no more because it was one of the few shows that catered to every part of the automotive hobby. Thankfully the Mega Speed Custom Car and Truck Show team (which I hear is a lot of the same people behind Performance World) picked right up where P.W. left off and as a spectator I didn't really notice a difference between this new show and the previous shows.

WTF Friday: Automotive Epic Fails

Here in Ontario our cars have to pass emissions and safety checks to be registered to drive on the roads. There are ways around this if you know the right people and some would argue that the some of the people doing safety checks can't tell their heads from their ass but I would hope that none of these vehicles would pass. A lot of WTF were you thinking going on here.
