Event Coverage: Tiremag/Ertefa BBQ 2013

The weather was exceptionally great last weekend and my car was freshly ready for summer (thanks to Simply Tire and Automatrix) so I swung by Tiremag on Sunday for a BBQ they had organized along the people behind Ertefa. I must admit I was pretty surprised at the turnout since it's still somewhat early in the season and I know a few cars that are still in several pieces.

WTF Friday: What is this? I don’t even?

It's been awhile (a long while actually) since there's been a WTF Friday 'name that car' challenge so when I recently stumbled upon these gems I knew the time was right. The first person to correctly identify all of these artistic interpretations of standard auto mobiles will win a prize pack of items from The Stance Is Everything Store.

Theme Tuesday: New Wheel Companies Part – 2

About three quarters of the way through writing last weeks Theme Tuesday I realized that there was no way to fit all of the companies I wanted into a post of reasonable length. What I didn't realize is how well received that post would be! I was honestly a little worried it would flop, now I might have to look into doing parts 3 and maybe for further down the road.

A Visit To: Air Lift Company

For years air suspension has had a reputation for being a sub par alternative to coil overs when it comes to building a vehicle where form shouldn't hamper function. This is of course an archaic mindset because like all other suspension systems on the market today air ride has evolved immensely since it's inception making nearly every negative "well my friend had air and..." statement a moot point.

Theme Tuesday: New Wheel Companies Part – 1

Sometime last year I got into a conversation about "real" wheel companies with a local enthusiast. Normally I try and avoid conversations like this all together but, this time I took the bait and asked the person to list off a few companies he considered real. The standard prerequisites (BBS, Volk, Work, and so forth) were fired off but I was a little shocked that he failed to mention any of the numerous new (or perhaps maturing) wheel companies that have been putting out original designs within the past 5 years or so.

Event Coverage: Mega Speed 2013 – Part 2

Today's portion of coverage from Mega Speed 2013 focuses almost exclusively on the tuner hall which this year was fairly self contained from the rest of the show.  Apparently this was done based on feedback from last year but personally I would have liked to have been a little bit closer to the rest of the action.

Theme Tuesdays: Burnouts

I like to believe there are at least two universal truths among car enthusiasts. The first is that everyone loves the e30 m3, and the second is that everybody likes a good burnout. Personally I love a good burnout and while I agree they have their time and place (leaving a meet is neither the time nor the place), I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more tires evaporate into clouds of smoke this year.

Event Coverage: The 2013 Canadian International Autoshow: Pt. 1

The Canadian International Autoshow  celebrates 40 years of operation this year which makes me wonder how many I've attended throughout the years. Though the number is likely  less than half I can remember as a child, attending the show with my dad, running from car to car for a  chance go get in the drivers seat and pretend to drive.

WTF Friday: Ten Amusing Drift Fails

Let me preface this post by saying that I can't drift. When I had my e30 I could get the ass out a little bit but actually holding a sustained controlled drift in anything other than snow? Not really. Why? Well to be frank I didn't want to ball up my car like the individuals in this post.

Guest Coverage: 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon

By now I'm sure many of you have already been inundated with Tokyo Auto Salon coverage from various other online media sources as it seems like everyone was at TAS this year checking out the latest and greatest Japan has to offer. Everyone except myself of course, but thanks to the great people over at Nextmod I've got some excellent TAS coverage to share here.

Theme Tuesday: Riveted Overfenders

Posting the AW11 MR2 yesterday, along with a car I saw Sunday night, made me realize that there has never been a Theme Tuesday devoted to riveted on overfenders. A smooth wide body will always have it's place, but there is something to be said for the lasting industrial appeal of over fenders. Done right they can often be the modification that really sets a car apart while enabling the use of generously proportioned wheels and tires.

Theme Tuesdays: OG Minitrucks

About a month ago the idea to do a follow up to the fairly well received 'Old School Minitruck' Theme Tuesday began to creep into my head but it wasn't until I came across The Coalition of OG Minitruckin on facebook that it really came together. After almost immediately losing an hour of my day upon discovery, I sent the page admin an email and we agreed that it's been far too long since some OG (traditionally styled) minitrucks have been posted on Stance Is Everything.
