As many of you would suspect I normally have quite a few tabs open at any given time, usually consisting of various forums, flickr accounts, blogs and vimeo pages.
When things get to the point of scrolling excessively side to side I like to clean house and close a few tabs down.
Last night I was doing just that when I came across a tab containing this rabbit which was opened lord knows how long ago.
I am on a fence here when it comes to with the hub capsOr withoutThe owner seems to dig withoutI wish there were a few shots from the rear, looks like a lot of wheel back there
This partnership also makes it much easier to provide custom one off color combinations.
Take a look at some of the existing stock below on cars around the world!
Mat and SecheMedia have been long time supporters of the site so I am very pleased to annouce this next level of our partnership.
As always thanks for the support!
Note: Currently the only two places to get Stance Is Everything stickers online is from the above sources, if you ever see them anywhere else online please let me know.
It’s been… ages since there was a guessing game WTF Friday and because as the audience for the site grows it has become harder, and harder, to find vehicles that people don’t recognize right away.
However I think this ‘creation’ *might* keep a few of you guessing.
Same rules as previous guessing game Friday posts, the first person to correctly identify what this car started as receives to stickers of their choice from the Stance Is Everything Store.
I’ll be concluding the 2012 Mega Speed coverage today with photos of the Imports, Euros, and Exotics along with a few of the exhibitors booths that were in the back hall of the International center.
This post is a little tail heavy clocking in at about 50 or so photos so if you are on your phone maybe save this for when you can grab some wifi.
SLC Magazine
Carlos and his recently started magazine had a booth at Mega Speed promoting both their print product and their recent partnership with DMCC for 20102, being right near the main stage they had a good view for all the action going on there too.
That's Andrew's Genesis behind the table there in it's SEMA wrapThat is issue one on top (pretty sure) and the latest behind itBrain's (of Elevated) EK was also in the SLC Booth
Automotofoto
AMF had a booth setup pumping music for most of the time I was there, between that and the main stage this hall was LOUD.
AMF models on day 2 of their 3 day marathonMT Motorsport / AMF project?
Factory Tire
The owner of Factory Tire seemed pretty happy to see me so I took a few pictures of the vehicles he had on display.
He's particularly fond of his plateWhile I was taking pics of his lambo I noticed this craziness going on around the corner...Came back later and this model was posing, this was the best angle I could get *kanye shrug*I think they have a show coming up late April...
Nextmod
When I went to the shop last Peter didn’t mention anything about attending this show so it was a surprise to find his cars directly behind The Montbomb.
The mild weather allowed both Kevin and Peter a chance to bring their cars out a little earlier this yearI need to take a trip back to the shop soon actually...
Sic Ryde
Sic had his usual diverse line up of personal cars and friends cars at Mega Speed.
Thanks again for helping run another contest this year Sic.
Sic's Porsche which could get real crazy soonThe wild CorradoYudi reppin' Sic Ryde with both of his wheels (Leon Hardiritt and LMs), which will he run this season? ETUNot sure if Kathrine was actually included on the official roster for Mega Speed but she was in attendance in the front hall
Punkin Mini
Last year there was a whole pile of Mini’s this year I could only find one. I wonder what happened?
I'm sure Ollie wouldn't mind thisStill have not watched the sketch this is from..
Fiat Abarth 500
The attention to detail put into this build was just incredible, and very much on par to the cars that were in the main hall. The detail that really caught my eye (in addition to how well this car rocks 12″ wheels) was the stripe that ran all the way around the vehicle including underneath the car.
Wild.
You can see the stripe under the car on the front mirrorA keen eye will also notice the stripe on the cluster and roofImmaculate engine bay of course
Nissan
Too Fast shop car got a makeover, looks much better than last yearPaul's Nissan sporting some Crown Royal love
Mazda
A modified MX3 is like a unicorn these days...Kinda of weird to have never seen this car before....Velside RX-7 back from it's trip to Vegas for SEMAI'd love to see this car at ride heightStreetpowers extremely fast RX-7Which I finally got not one but two engine bay shots ofLook up Streetpower Performance Inc on facebook for more info
More Boosted Cars
Not sure if I am just more aware of it now but it seemed like there was a ton of boosted cars at Mega Speed this year.
One of many function first HondasI think a lot of people overlooked this trioEngine bay of the silver hatchAnd the white oneSupra bayLuis was there with his beautiful s2000Not sure if I ever noticed his valve cover beforeGallardo not fast enough? Add two turbosInsane.Might have a hard time keeping up with the one above.
Euro
Golf I've never seen shown beforeI had heard Gary retired this car but I guess it's on a Jay-Z comeback tourBimmersport's clown shoeLegal? Probably not. Sick? Absolutely.Charlie's Euro M3 will always be one of my favorite local carsHis shop (BimmerSport), Luxury Auto body, and Ultra Auto Sound recently combined to form areyouready.caI actually lost this poster, ha.
Honda/Acura
The owner of this car was telling me it has changed quite a bit since I saw it lastMy cam died right after this shot... this car still blows my mind too cleanJaved's ELBig things in this cars futureAnother shot of Brian's engine bay just because he put a lot of work into it over the winterOne of the cleanest Civics in the GTAThere were a lot of people studying Dan's fitment at the show, and for whatever reason touching the tire stretch to see if it was realThis setup is already history so who knows what's next
That’s all she wrote for Mega Speed, see you guys next year.
Keeping the Mega Speed Coverage moving here is the second set of classics, hot rods, and customs, along with a few assorted other things to help break things up a bit.
The amount of time put into today’s builds is truly remarkable.
Here’s to hoping that one day I will have my ducks all in a row to build something properly from the ground up, until then I will just try not to drool on them at shows.
Random Stuff
Looking right down the middle of the second hall, you can see the third hall behind it, then there was one behind thatUnique way to prop your car up.Creative display is creativeBandit!and for no reason at all... here is a gator
LSX Stang
Do you think Ford owners are as up in arms about LSX swaps as import owners? Talk about putting an LSX in an s-chassis or rotary powered car and half the people are down while the other half lose their minds and come after you with fire…
LSX powered MustangLooks at home honestly
Mega Speed Features
Along with “The Runt” I posted in part one of the coverage Mega Speed had a number of other featured cars, two of which are below and more that can be found on their features page.
The Pro Box, from Rad Rides By TroyThe car in the foreground started as the car in the backgroundPersonally I think the exterior flow is a odd now (more so at a distance) but I can't argue with this engine bay!
Customs
Though this truck was listed as a first time entrant I am sure I've seen it some place before...The somewhat famous and always memorable BugsplatWhen I saw the Booch last year I thought they were going to leave it raw, guess notThe Montbomb looking incredible fully detailedSee that cut out in the hood? It's needed to get the hood to clear as the motor without sticking up through itLove the matching plate
Traditional Rods and ‘Rat’ Rods
Got dish?I think the front wheel could fit inside the rearThe side profile of this Ford was amazing but there was a guard rail obscuring that shot so take my word for itThis builders trademark square headers and interesting choice of wheels is easily recognizable, the other car beside it (which I have posted last year) was more of the samePersonally I prefer this style 'rat'Note the grill ornamentJust like a builder from Toronto to not rep the Leafs! (don't blame him)Deez....Who knew Mike Holmes had a car collection?Naturally Meguiar's Canada had a clean Ford in their boothThis was one of my favorite displays at Mega SpeedMostly because I was introduced to early Fords through a model car magazineThe Piston Pushers had a lot of cool buildsPicture perfectCountless hours must have been poured into thisI would love to see (or shoot) this car and Jeff Norwell's truck side by side
Fourth and final Mega Speed Coverage will be up tomorrow, until then here is a female.
I originally wasn’t sure I’d be able to give the trucks of Mega Speed a post of their own but once I got through all of the photos it only made sense to dedicate the second part of the coverage to trucks.
I’m not sure how the truck class compared to last year because they were not very centralized this year and by the time I left I was still finding new ones.
Which wouldn’t have been a bad thing had my camera battery not died.
Lifted
Does anyone else find it a little weird that a lowered car or truck would get hassled by the police over a lifted one even though it’s impossible to be inconspicuous in a lifted truck?
Ironically the owner of this trucks son drives a slammed carThis Blazer is massive.I'm pretty sure a Miata would come up to the rockers of this truck
Minis
This truck didn't change much visually from last year but it is still one of my favoritesJust wish I had a better angle to shoot it atKRUZN LOWIf this is original paint it is in exceptional shapeDoes anyone know if this truck used to be black a few years back? If so it has come a long wayLoved the slight changes to this s10 since last year, the new wheels work wellI'm also pretty sure that air cleaner cover is newand you can never go wrong with pinstripingGeoff's truck looking clean like alwaysIt's a small detail but I have always been a fan of two tone paint continuing into the door jambs
Classics
The Taylor'd 57 took home the "Now that's kool" trophyMy camera was dead when I saw this truck but thankfully I've got my phoneI like this one for a lot of the same reasons I like the Taylor'd truckSick from every angleThis truck is the complete opposite of the two above but equally beautifulA100s are so uniqueMore builds similar to this tomorrow
Toe Truk
Theme builds are always somewhat risky but this ’48 FI was really well done. I’m not sure if it took home any awards but it certainly deserved a few.
Really love the base color on this rigConnecting Rod cup holders (and bed rail supports)Bags take care of the tow bar, pretty slickCoolest looking compressor ever?LS7 poweredRespect to the owner, great looking ride
Norwell Equipped
Another person I didn’t get a chance to catch up with at Mega Speed was Jeff Norwell of Drawn and Quartered, like John from Not Stock Photography I have been a fan of his work for awhile now and really wanted to let him know.
Sadly when I stopped by the Performance Improvements booth it was empty, next year…
An amazing buildRob of Performance Improvements let me know Jeff drove his truck off the floor back home, no trailer queen
As I mentioned on the fan page I really appreciate the support the truck community gives the site so every show I go to I will do my best to take a least a few truck shots.
More muscle and customs tomorrow then imports/tuners get the last day…
With their chunky twist on the classic five spoke the Borbet Type A is a wheel that people love as much as they hate.
Personally it took me a long time to warm up to the raised center caps, but after pulling this post together I realized that like everything else it all comes down to sizing and application.
Perhaps the only Honda I've ever seen on A'sMr. 2 from the MR2 Theme TuesdayThis gold 190 screams classic euroLocal car from a few years ago...Like I said I no longer mind the raised caps all that muchMK 3 and e36 guys seem to love these wheels the mostThe more simple the body modifications the better these wheels work in my opinonThey even work well white on whiteSomeone likes their 1/4 poundersHarlequin's turn up in the damndest placesClown shoe on A'sWho knew how popular this car would become?E36 onslaught forth comingMint.Super cleanNo denying the look really good on the e36Like Type A's this e46 is love hateSans copper facesMy first introduction to Type A's Andre NYTouring LoveE30 rollerHow about no caps?As good a place of any to end it
I think if I were to get a set I would still get flat caps….maybe.
More Mega Speed Custom Car And Truck coverage coming later today.
Being one of my favorite shows in the area I was pretty worried when I heard that Performance World was no more because it was one of the few shows that catered to every part of the automotive hobby.
Thankfully the Mega Speed Custom Car and Truck Show team (which I hear is a lot of the same people behind Performance World) picked right up where P.W. left off and as a spectator I didn’t really notice a difference between this new show and the previous shows.
This years show seemed larger than years previous which means I have a lot of coverage to share this week and this first post contains half of the Classics, Customs, and Hot rods. Chances of me seeing a lot of these cars again are pretty slim so I made sure to get shots of as many that I could.
Burton Batmobile
I’ve seen this car zipping around the 410 a couple of times but this is the first time I have actually seen it stopped, that is unless this is of course a third one I know of in the area.
I wonder how it is going to compare to Tim’sBat-Berry when it’s done.
Behind the Batmobile was the Fonz.... seriouslyChick's dig the car
On the topic of Batmobiles this Oldsmobile looked like it could have been one of Bruce Wayne’s daily drivers
Reminds me of e30 headlight intakes, maybe this is where it started...Pretty sinister
That's a Little Field 10-71 Blower you are looking atA 'mild' tune yielded 1536 HP and 1224 foot pounds on ethanol
Mopar
Not a lot of Mopar coverage today but this one is pretty wild.
The firewall along with a few other details on this Challenger struck me as odd so I decided to get a closer lookIf that is the only sheetmetal left... how much does this weigh!?
Twins
Instead of making the touch decision of wagon or sedan the owner of these two Buicks (Special and Caballero) decided to hell with choosing, picked up both and built them pretty much identical.
Classic car owners and builders never cease to amaze.
I actually thought these were a pair of Bel-Airs at firstLooking from one on through to the otherTidy air ride setup in the CaballeroSo crazy..Wonder if he built both at the same time?
Ford
Blue Oval fans don’t worry quite a few more Fords to come this week including a whole pile of deuce coupes.
427 powered '27 T coupe, Willwoods front and rear, 20s up front 22s out backAluminum 427'37 Ford CabrioletKind of wanted to move the carpet over ever so slightly for this shot'37 Ford with a C5 drivelineOne of two LSX powered Fords I saw at Mega SpeedPretty cool of the owner to bring a poster of what sits underneath that all steel body
Chevrolet
Nova out in the main HallThis Impala was right near the entranceThe more you look at this build the more you see......for example I didn't notice the wind-shield in personA friend of Blair's said this used to be purple, Google says he was right, it's a little weird but well put togetherThe melted rubber on the quarter panel of this car is a good indication it is not a trailer queenHow your dad may have done itWhenever I see a Nomad I think of the Home Improvement episode where Tim squashed his Jill'sThis Pro Stock Bel Air wasn't far from the Gremlin earlier in this postPicture Perfect (70?) CamaroStill absolutely in love with this ChevelleThe Runt, one of several feature vehicles at Mega SpeedBuilt by RPM motors a shop that really, really, impressed me last year
I really wanted to meet John Jackson of Not Stock Photography at the show because he has taken a whole pile of photos I love (and no doubt a few you love too like this one) but I was only able to catch up to the Boogie Van.
Hopefully he comes back next year.
When I posted this on the fan page a few weeks ago someone said it was 'average'. Believe me it is notIt has some of the best paintwork I have ever seen... the detail work is greatThe van has got signatures from all of the events he has brought it tooAnd inside it is lined with some of his best work, you might recognize one of the photos on the left from a recent Theme TuesdayCandy blue on the roof carries into the van
Canada’s First Tree
Going to end todays coverage with this piece of Canadian Hot Rodding history that was brought to the show by Piston Pushers.
The next set of coverage will be Trucks and Tuners but I plan to loop back around and finish up the classics Wednesday.
I was reading something the other day about Lil Wayne signing a whole pile of irrelevant rappers, singers, and Limp Bizkit(!?) which for whatever reason triggered a memory of the song ‘Throw Some D’s’ by Rich Boy.
That ear worm reminded me of this story from a few years ago about an e36 driver that ended up with a wire wheel embedded in his windshield.
Google helped me track down the original thread and the photos and story are just as crazy now as it was then.
Before…
After…
To date this is still one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen happen to a car, wheels coming off at highway speed are serious business.
The driver managed to come out alive (though a very bad shoulder dislocation) which is a damn miracle. The e36 was a goner.
The owner of the wheel was found eventually as well, not sure if he got his wheel back.
Personally I plan to head out to the show tomorrow and I will be doing my event coverage, twitter(@perfectstance), fan page deal while there.
Flashback Friday
A lot of you might not know this but every Thursday night I ride at Joyride 150 and last night I noticed that the cars in the parking lot are starting to look a little better with the good weather, which means I should start pulling together another Theme Tuesday of riders rides..
That whole Lumidee thing might be a rumor but Carter 4 outro >>>>> Carter 4
Now just over two years later I’ve had the pleasure of both featuring their 57 Chevy and checking out the shop where all the magic happens.
Located east of Toronto, just outside of Ajax, the Taylor’d compound isn’t a super elaborate facility that resembles a hospital. It’s more akin to every car guys dream, a warm building equipped with everything you need to get work done along with a few other buildings that provide storage space for current, completed, and future projects.
There is also of course plenty of space to test out your toys once you get them running or blow off some steam with a quick rip around on a snowmobile or atv.
Suffice to say it’s a big kids play ground and the perfect place for Blair and his father to build and collect all sorts of things automotive.
Nearly all of the vehicles I saw during my walk around had a story to go with it, some were bought, some were traded for, and some just ended up there by sheer luck, and while a couple looked as though they had been sitting quite some time Blair had plans for every car.
Some will be left as is, others restored and others modified. Even though Blair might be elbows deep in one project it doesn’t stop him from thinking about another, he just needs more time to do it all.
Much of what Blair told me about the vehicles during my visit has made it into the captions below.
This is one of two vehicles Blair drove during high school, it has one of the first air setups he ever did and it is the project that taught him how to weldSo awesome that he didn't get this painted overThe property is simply filled with all sorts of gemsThis Impala was just sitting in storage until Blair convinced his dad to let him bag it, the first time I saw it at Performance World there was only about four days work in the carI love everything about this ImapalaWill this Impala end up similar to the one above? Time will tellWe already know what Blair can do with old trucks so I really hope he gets a chance to work on this soonHow many people own several pristine classics and and Delorean? Blair's dad loves tradesPeriod correct sled with quad lakeside pipesLove the grill, color, and flame jobPerfect for a boulavard cruiseBlair did this back half about a year ago and the owner put a ton of miles on it with zero problemsIt is back at Taylor'd for storage now though it might get a little lower as well...The straight eight originally in this car was so heavy that when they went to take it out it bent the tractor bucketOne of their ongoing projectsPaper thin clearanceUnderside clean enough to eat fromIt was awesome to finally see this truck in person, and more awesome to hear about some of the upcoming coverage it is gettingObviously this has been driven to the speed limit at all timesThis car and theone that would eventually become the Montbomb were purchased togetherBeauty Ford tucked away in the back of the building attached to the officeAlso in that same room was this one armed bandit, I didn't playThe original driver of this car had a club foot so it had a unique pedal configurationConcourse winning Mustang... the cleanest car I have ever seenThe Montbomb which will be on display this weekendA real work of art all aroundThe headliner, which Blair did himself, is one of the cars most overlooked featuresA closer look at the big blockPotent Pro Charger setupCanadian Hot Rod spread on the car
Getting the opportunity to see the Taylor’d shop, and collection of cars, was quite a treat and listening to some of Blair’s plans I honestly can’t wait to see what this shop pumps out for the 2012 season.
Hopefully I will get a chance to head back when it is a little warmer and get some shots that really do these cars justice. Until then be sure to look out for both the ’57 Truck and the Montbomb at The Mega Speed Custom Car show this weekend.
