With their chunky twist on the classic five spoke the Borbet Type A is a wheel that people love as much as they hate.
Personally it took me a long time to warm up to the raised center caps, but after pulling this post together I realized that like everything else it all comes down to sizing and application.
Perhaps the only Honda I've ever seen on A'sMr. 2 from the MR2 Theme TuesdayThis gold 190 screams classic euroLocal car from a few years ago...Like I said I no longer mind the raised caps all that muchMK 3 and e36 guys seem to love these wheels the mostThe more simple the body modifications the better these wheels work in my opinonThey even work well white on whiteSomeone likes their 1/4 poundersHarlequin's turn up in the damndest placesClown shoe on A'sWho knew how popular this car would become?E36 onslaught forth comingMint.Super cleanNo denying the look really good on the e36Like Type A's this e46 is love hateSans copper facesMy first introduction to Type A's Andre NYTouring LoveE30 rollerHow about no caps?As good a place of any to end it

More Mega Speed Custom Car And Truck coverage coming later today.
Being one of my favorite shows in the area I was pretty worried when I heard that Performance World was no more because it was one of the few shows that catered to every part of the automotive hobby.
Thankfully the Mega Speed Custom Car and Truck Show team (which I hear is a lot of the same people behind Performance World) picked right up where P.W. left off and as a spectator I didn’t really notice a difference between this new show and the previous shows.
This years show seemed larger than years previous which means I have a lot of coverage to share this week and this first post contains half of the Classics, Customs, and Hot rods. Chances of me seeing a lot of these cars again are pretty slim so I made sure to get shots of as many that I could.
Burton Batmobile
I’ve seen this car zipping around the 410 a couple of times but this is the first time I have actually seen it stopped, that is unless this is of course a third one I know of in the area.
I wonder how it is going to compare to Tim’sBat-Berry when it’s done.
Behind the Batmobile was the Fonz.... seriouslyChick's dig the car
On the topic of Batmobiles this Oldsmobile looked like it could have been one of Bruce Wayne’s daily drivers
Reminds me of e30 headlight intakes, maybe this is where it started...Pretty sinister
That's a Little Field 10-71 Blower you are looking atA 'mild' tune yielded 1536 HP and 1224 foot pounds on ethanol
Mopar
Not a lot of Mopar coverage today but this one is pretty wild.
The firewall along with a few other details on this Challenger struck me as odd so I decided to get a closer lookIf that is the only sheetmetal left... how much does this weigh!?
Twins
Instead of making the touch decision of wagon or sedan the owner of these two Buicks (Special and Caballero) decided to hell with choosing, picked up both and built them pretty much identical.
Classic car owners and builders never cease to amaze.
I actually thought these were a pair of Bel-Airs at firstLooking from one on through to the otherTidy air ride setup in the CaballeroSo crazy..Wonder if he built both at the same time?
Ford
Blue Oval fans don’t worry quite a few more Fords to come this week including a whole pile of deuce coupes.
427 powered '27 T coupe, Willwoods front and rear, 20s up front 22s out backAluminum 427'37 Ford CabrioletKind of wanted to move the carpet over ever so slightly for this shot'37 Ford with a C5 drivelineOne of two LSX powered Fords I saw at Mega SpeedPretty cool of the owner to bring a poster of what sits underneath that all steel body

CamaroStill absolutely in love with this ChevelleThe Runt, one of several feature vehicles at Mega SpeedBuilt by RPM motors a shop that really, really, impressed me last year
I really wanted to meet John Jackson of Not Stock Photography at the show because he has taken a whole pile of photos I love (and no doubt a few you love too like this one) but I was only able to catch up to the Boogie Van.
Hopefully he comes back next year.
When I posted this on the fan page a few weeks ago someone said it was 'average'. Believe me it is notIt has some of the best paintwork I have ever seen... the detail work is greatThe van has got signatures from all of the events he has brought it tooAnd inside it is lined with some of his best work, you might recognize one of the photos on the left from a recent Theme TuesdayCandy blue on the roof carries into the van
Canada’s First Tree
Going to end todays coverage with this piece of Canadian Hot Rodding history that was brought to the show by Piston Pushers.
The next set of coverage will be Trucks and Tuners but I plan to loop back around and finish up the classics Wednesday.
I was reading something the other day about Lil Wayne signing a whole pile of irrelevant rappers, singers, and Limp Bizkit(!?) which for whatever reason triggered a memory of the song ‘Throw Some D’s’ by Rich Boy.
That ear worm reminded me of this story from a few years ago about an e36 driver that ended up with a wire wheel embedded in his windshield.
Google helped me track down the original thread and the photos and story are just as crazy now as it was then.
Before…
After…
To date this is still one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen happen to a car, wheels coming off at highway speed are serious business.
The driver managed to come out alive (though a very bad shoulder dislocation) which is a damn miracle. The e36 was a goner.
The owner of the wheel was found eventually as well, not sure if he got his wheel back.
Personally I plan to head out to the show tomorrow and I will be doing my event coverage, twitter(@perfectstance), fan page deal while there.
Flashback Friday
A lot of you might not know this but every Thursday night I ride at Joyride 150 and last night I noticed that the cars in the parking lot are starting to look a little better with the good weather, which means I should start pulling together another Theme Tuesday of riders rides..
That whole Lumidee thing might be a rumor but Carter 4 outro >>>>> Carter 4
Now just over two years later I’ve had the pleasure of both featuring their 57 Chevy and checking out the shop where all the magic happens.
Located east of Toronto, just outside of Ajax, the Taylor’d compound isn’t a super elaborate facility that resembles a hospital. It’s more akin to every car guys dream, a warm building equipped with everything you need to get work done along with a few other buildings that provide storage space for current, completed, and future projects.
There is also of course plenty of space to test out your toys once you get them running or blow off some steam with a quick rip around on a snowmobile or atv.
Suffice to say it’s a big kids play ground and the perfect place for Blair and his father to build and collect all sorts of things automotive.
Nearly all of the vehicles I saw during my walk around had a story to go with it, some were bought, some were traded for, and some just ended up there by sheer luck, and while a couple looked as though they had been sitting quite some time Blair had plans for every car.
Some will be left as is, others restored and others modified. Even though Blair might be elbows deep in one project it doesn’t stop him from thinking about another, he just needs more time to do it all.
Much of what Blair told me about the vehicles during my visit has made it into the captions below.
This is one of two vehicles Blair drove during high school, it has one of the first air setups he ever did and it is the project that taught him how to weldSo awesome that he didn't get this painted overThe property is simply filled with all sorts of gemsThis Impala was just sitting in storage until Blair convinced his dad to let him bag it, the first time I saw it at Performance World there was only about four days work in the carI love everything about this ImapalaWill this Impala end up similar to the one above? Getting the opportunity to see the Taylor’d shop, and collection of cars, was quite a treat and listening to some of Blair’s plans I honestly can’t wait to see what this shop pumps out for the 2012 season.
Hopefully I will get a chance to head back when it is a little warmer and get some shots that really do these cars justice. Until then be sure to look out for both the ’57 Truck and the Montbomb at The Mega Speed Custom Car show this weekend.
On a typical workday, the alarm on my phone tortures me to wake up at 7:30am, 8:00am, 8:15am, 8:30am, 8:45am, and 9:00am. That’s right. I’m so terrible at waking up I need six separate alarms.
Then, one day last week I woke up naturally before my alarms. Barely awake, and struggling to see anything, I roll over to check the time on my phone and notice I have e-mail from Hoda, our favourite reader from Japan. I didn’t care too much until I realized each e-mail had an attachment. So I opened the first e-mail to find he had sent photos of his Honda Odyssey–with a fresh set of wheels.
And just like that, I’m wide awake on the edge of my bed before my first alarm. Hoda told me about getting new rims a while ago and I kind of forgot about it.
JDM Odyssey. New SSR Professor M1 rims. Beautiful photography. Great way to start the morning, right?
Now if only my morning drive to work looked a little something like this. For now I’ll just have to repeatedly daydream about the cruise he took me on in Kyoto last year.
Hoda’s Odyssey sets a great example on how to make a bold statement without going over the top. No fender rolling, no crazy-wide rims, no aggressive tire stretching—just well-executed mods that truly compliment the vehicle.
I never get tired of staring at this thing. In fact, I’d bet my obsession bride-to-be, Emma Stone, could walk right past and block my view without me noticing her. And how could anybody blame me with a rear end like this?
Would you change anything? The only real problem that I see needs fixing is my name isn’t on this Odyssey’s ownership slip.
Hoda’s going to be turning a lot of heads in 2012 with this red-silver-gold combo.
If I were Dave, I’m feeling that right about now is when I’m supposed to say, “Hoda’s stance is dialed in.”
I think we can all agree this Odyssey’s gotten a healthy dose of class with the new Professor M1s.
If you aren’t familiar with the previous setup, head on over to my guest post from last year where I wrote about meeting up with Hoda in Kyoto, Japan. You’ll appreciate his Odyssey’s new shoes so much more.
Huge thanks to Hoda for sending these photos in AND helping me getting my lazy ass to work early for once.
Most of these are caused by a stiff suspension, steep angles, speed, or a combination of all three but a couple juice induced.
Static Induced

Following up a post like the one I made on Friday with a car that wasn’t straight to the point, and uber clean just wouldn’t be right so here are some new(er) photos of an e30 I first posted April of 2011.
Not much has changed since then but honestly nothing really needed too.
On the way to EurokracyInitally I thought this car was on coils but it's actually on H&R Race springs with E90 hats and a coil loped off up front15x8/9 BBS RS 195/50 all aroundMy opinion of this car is still the same as when I first saw it, perfect.
These photos were taken on the way to Eurokracy 2011. Eurokracy 2012 was just announced for June 23rd of this year for those who may have missed it.
The first car show of 2012 starts this Friday and thanks again to SIC RYDE I have two free VIP day passes to give away to one lucky Stance Is Everything reader.
Mega Speed is Toronto’s newest show and if the show it is replacing (Performance World) is any indication it will have something for everyone.
To win two VIP day passes to Mega Speed and two red SIC RYDE keychains, correctly identify all of the vanity license plates currently in the SIC RYDE fleet in the comments of this post.
The person who correctly identifies the most plates will be the winner.
In the event that multiple people correctly identify all (or the same number) of SIC RYDE vanity license plates a winner will be chosen by mathematical random of those who answered correctly.
I’ve been trying to avoid posting about the topic of wheel fitment as strictly a numbers game for some time now as it is a discussion that may touch on a few nerves and one that could leave be sounding a tad hypocritical.
However it is an issue I feel needs addressing now more than ever before things degrade into a pissing contest of epic proportions.
My first brush with the ‘Fitment By The Numbers’ mentality came a few months ago when I noticed people responding to members rides threads by asking wheel and tire fitment questions first, and offering compliments or criticisms second.
"THE BARRELS HAVE SPOKEN" - STREETSWEEPER.NORTHWEST
A little investigation revealed that, more often than not, these were the same people who seemed adamant that to have a ‘stanced’ vehicle you needed wheels of a certain width, stretch of a certain amount, and camber to a certain degree.
Which is wrong.
If that were true then how would traditional hot rods, mini trucks, imports, euros, classics, and low riders lacking one, if not all, of those ‘prerequisites’ earn features on some of the most popular and respected stance oriented websites today?
"He Did That?" - STREETSWEEPER.NORTHWEST
There is no book of stance, no guidelines that must be followed to be deemed worthy, the only common thread amongst cars with great stance is a ride height significantly different than factory.
Aggressive fitment just happens to be something works better the lower you are so the two are often linked and, as you I’m sure you are all well aware, aggressive fitment has become quite popular over the last several years.
With this popularity came a larger following and more people looking to push the boundaries, and as that happened the question of how much is too much began to come into play.
18x11.5
Aesthetically flow is perhaps the most important part of a car and the reason that so many people dislike body kits, roof racks, loud graphics/paint, and spoilers. Depending on execution those items can often disrupt the entire flow of an otherwise great looking car.
The same rule applies with fitment, execution is paramount.
When you run a wheel so wide that it takes away from your other modifications then does it really matter that you can claim the widest and lowest for your platform or that you can play a game of Jenga on your exposed barrel?
"GOT BARREL?" - STREETSWEEPER.NORTHWEST
If aesthetics and function start to leap frog each other out the door then what are we modifying our cars for, shock value? Notoriety?
Food for thought.
Modify your car as you see fit because aesthetics are a subjective thing with opinions differing from person to person, but if your end goal is only your end goal to outdo the person before you remember that there is always someone behind you who is ready to do the exact same thing.
Flashback Friday
For this weeks WTF Friday I will forgo the usual site updates and end with a photo one of my all time favorite Subarus.
Julian in my opinion always knew when enough was enough.
This ’47 Ford Coupe has been kickin’ around my hard drive for awhile now because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to include it in another post or throw it up solo but I recently found a few more pictures of it so solo it is.
Wearing what I can only assume to be natural patina and appropriate sign art on the side this Ford looks right at home in the weeds.
I would really love some more info on the truck if anyone’s got it. So far the only other place I can find these photos is over on JJizzle’s blog.
