Funky cold Mondeo

7

It’s always interesting the differences in the car markets across the globe. Cars that are mundane in one area will excel in another and the Ford Contour, aka the Ford Mondeo, is a prime example of that, seeing as how it was (according to Wikipedia) Britain’s third best selling new car from 96 – 98.

Here in North America they are just another ho hum family hauler. I’ve seen a couple modified here and there (mostly SVTs) but none done with some Euro flavor, that is until this one.

These cars actually clean up fairly nice and fit wheels wider than I would have ever thought, interesting.

I never really liked the front end on these cars before this one
Rollin clean
Air ride gets this car where it needs to be (bag over coil)
Diamond stitched interior is no doubt better than what it came with

They look way better like this than in Tekken livery that’s for damn sure.

As always respect to those working with harder platforms.

Spotted a couple weeks back on the StanceWorks forums, where more info can be found (it’s on 195/40s up front on 9s and 205/40 on 10s out back if you were wondering).

WTF Friday: Under Konstruction

16

On the way to Pennsylvania last week, traveling by Aztec (great road trip vehicle oddly enough), we stopped at a bunch of random places.  One memorable stop was a gun store where we were informed that over 950 women in Pennsylvania have the right to carry a concealed weapon which is sort of scary.

On what would have been a more standard stop for gas I noticed what appeared to be a convertible Neon in an empty lot across the road, naturally curiosity got the better of me and dodged two lane traffic to get a better look.

Once I got closer I realized that the empty building the car was in front of used to be an aftermarket shop, and if this is the type of work they put out it’s no real surprise that they went under.

Check out all of the mad custom work here hidden by black paint
If Under Konstruction didn't let you know it was a work in progress
This sticker should
Clean roof cut for sure...
Cleanest engine bay ever!
Part of me wanted to grab that tach for a garage decoration
Roll bar looks like a monkey bar
If you're looking to get some work done...

Someone should pick this up for a 24 hour of Lemons car though.  It would be good for a laugh.

I’m looking into getting a small run of T-shirts made with profit from the stickers, when I know a little more I will share a little more but the plan is once things reach a nice round number to get some shirts spun off.

Car wise going to hopefully finish rebuilding my skid plate this weekend so I can get it off my work bench and start polishing up my Equips.

I am also thinking of picking up a Mothers Powercone so if anyone has any experience with it let me know.

Flashback Friday

I’ve been on maxbimmer a lot lately keeping tabs on a blogging contest (if you are wondering I’m not really pushing to win anymore for day job reasons) and remembered this pair of E90s I posted in 09.

H&R sports plus 20inchers work great here.

I should follow up and see whats new in 2011.

Fat and Flush: STI

7

They say the first step in managing an addiction is admitting you have an addiction so I am going to admit this one to all of you:

I’m in the early stages of what is no doubt going to become a full blown addiction to cars that are set up fat and flush.

Like my addiction to the other various forms of stance this is basically out of my control so the best thing I can do at this point is give fat and flush it’s own category.

I found this STI lurking in the ‘Ultimate aggressive wheel thread…‘ on Mazda 3 forums which is the same place I found the speed3 that started my little addiction.

This is one mean looking pig nose
I need to attend one of these gatherings of race built cars
This STI is using up every inch of those flares
Functional camber

I might also have a general Subaru and Evo addiction but we will see what happens there…

Can’t afford, do want.

I could use this title a thousand times over for cars I post here on a regular bases but I think it suits this Benzo to a tee.

While I wasn’t able to find the original source of these photos or a mods list with exact specs, but I don’t really need either to appreciate what’s been done here.

This car looks absolutely fantastic.

From hood to bumper this car is perfect
The flush mounted caps on these wheels is a great small detail
Retaining the chrome around the belt line was a good move
I like these wheels because they are nothing too crazy head on
But then the dish makes them pop
Simply top dollar

If anyone has more info on this I would love to know it, working with nothing here 🙂

Update: Got some info from a friend of the owner who commented with the following:

Mods include a Wald front lip, Lorinser front fenders, a Carlsson rear lip, AMG exhaust tips, rear quarters pulled, SL style front grill, Renntech lowering module, lowering links, and the wheels are D2Forged VS7 20×9.5 and 20×10.5

Again, such a nice car.

Winter Wednesdays: Lupo

11

Winter is starting to get a little tiresome. At the end of last week we were teased with fairly mild weather but at a cost because it was just incredibly windy for two days straight. Then just as a remind that spring doesn’t start ‘officially’ until March 21st we got a decent amount of snow on Sunday night and the weather has turned back to double digits below zero.

I guess looking on the bright side we all have at least 1 month left (unless you are in Performance World or sunnier climates) to get all of our ducks in a row for the 2011 season.

Winter sticking around also means I can keep posting low cars in the snow like this Lupo on Schmidt TH lines.

Some of the smallest TH lines I have ever seen, still dope though
Real winter car lurking out back looks like

Theme Tuesdays: Pictures With Attitude: 5

10

Last night I had envisioned doing a ‘Favorites of Wekfest 2011’ Theme Tuesday (since I was not there) but when I started looking for photos I was having a hell of a time finding ones that were not full of hoards of people.

I noticed a few better photos popped up this morning but I generally don’t like posting Theme Tuesdays after work so here are some more awesome automotive photos I felt needed to be shared.

Start off with what was probably an intense moment
This car appears as though it's street legal
I need to experience this
Hands up if you had a poster of this car on your wall as a kid
It was really hard for me not to post this with the rest of the P cars not too long ago
I would probably kill myself on a bike but I would still like to own one
Ridaz!
Lucky Subaru driver
Sideways open wheel cars is becoming a fetish of mine
More open wheel amazing
Spark it or park it
Roastin
Just a sick photo
If only cops were actually this cool
One of the many reasons I want a Subaru one day

Featured Ride: Andre’s Impreza

29

One of the best parts about being a car enthusiasts in this internet age is that it’s incredibly easy to connect with other scenes around the globe. With less than an hour and a few clicks you can see what’s going on in Europe, North America, and Japan. This means that tuning styles are no longer regionally based.

Andre, who is from Brazil, got hooked on clean, low, cars fast thanks to international forums like NASOIC and blogs like this one. Once the bug bit it wasn’t long until Impreza was on sitting much closer to the earth.

Andre started things off with a great canvas, the deep burgundy paint on his Impreza isn’t a color you see often which meant it was just a few quick modifications away from being a real head turner.

Andre switched up the front end of his Subaru with a Trial style hood (equipped with 22b vents), an HTAuto grill, and retro fitted headlights alongside clear corners and turn signals.

He also bolted up a custom lip under the bumper to help emphasize the healthy static drop on the car that was achieved not by coil overs but instead with via custom rated springs and dampers.

In Brazil this type of suspension is called ‘fixa’ and is done by those who love to ride low 24/7 and 365 days of the year.

With the car nice and low Andre put on a set of STI side skirts to bring the car even closer to hover craft status and since his attention was already focused on the sides of the car he installed Gandor style mirrors.

In the rear of the car a custom wing sits above a de-baged trunk, STI tails, and a custom rear bumper and by now you have probably already noticed that pointing out from below that bumper is a Zelo muffler which gives the stock 1.8 motor an opportunity to expel it’s gasses a little faster and louder.

For wheels Andre chose to re-drill a set of oem Evo 5 OZ Racing F1 wheels (17×7.5 et 38), which finished in gold really look like they should have been on this car from the factory.

The wheels also really bring together all of the tasteful mods Andre has done to the car.

Andre’s car is incredibly well thought out and and put together and I’m very happy to have it as an international feature here on Stance Is Everything.

Big thanks to Andre for sending it in and his friend Felipe Gobor for shooting the photos.

WTF Friday: 2 Fast 2 Serious?

8

In about an hour or so I set off to State College Pennsylvania to get in a weekends worth of BMX riding at Woodward Camp, so I’m going to get straight to what you guys want to read and then back to my (last minute) packing.

The winners of the February sticker give away are Dallas, mb190, and Tammy if that’s your name please check the email you commented with so you can let me know which stickers you want from the S.I.E. store and where I should send them to.

Thanks everyone for entering and a special thank you to Seche Media, Sweetie Girl Racing, Supermade, and Nextmod for contributing the vinyl schawg and making another give away possible.

Now, getting back to normal Friday whatever, here is a 2 Fast 2 Furious parody done by a group of comedic Volvo owners.

I know at the very least Josh (who submitted Blenda) will enjoy this because of his Fast & The Furious obsession and Joe (auto encyclopedia), probably as well because he’s a Volvo guy.

But hopefully the rest of you find it funny as well.

So how many more days is it until Fast Five comes out?

Site Updates

Nothing really, just continuing to ramp up for the new season on both the blog front and personal vehicle front.

More on both things to come soon but here is an update of my Work Equip test fit from last weekend for those who are not part of the facebook fan page.

I ended up getting the wheels bored out to 73.1mm so they not only fit my 3 but will fit any other car with a 5×114.3 bolt pattern if the appropriate centering rings are used.

Once I got them home I test fit them on my car:

The machine job did a fantastic job
Front fitment is basically bang on
The rear fitment is more aggressive than the front but my camber arms will make it work

All said and done my fitment should be pretty close to JDR’s, once complete.

However I’m still unsure whether to run just staggered widths (215/40) all around or run staggered widths and staggered tire sizes (205/40 up front 215/40 out back).

I have both sets of tires but if I go with the second option it leaves me with no functional alternative setup for when I want to do any sort of driving event.

Hmm… Any tire companies out there want me to test for them? 😉

Flash Back Fridays

Since I reworked the search page a couple months ago, to make my host happy, it’s made searching for older posts like this one much easier.

In this post I mentioned that we need to step up our car show game here in Canada because Budapest was/is kicking our ass.

As evident by this now two year old video:

*zipped lips*

Alright, I’m hitting the dusty trail (in an Aztec no less).

And this one goes out to…

All the Volkswagen fans, my apologies, until someone mentioned it on facebook I had not noticed it had been some time since I posted up some quality VW content.

Here is what I had on hand last night and I have a whole bunch of tabs open at home to start saving more Volkswagen content for future posts.

While I might not comment on everything right away I do read every comment and email that comes through 🙂

Classic VW stretch and poke.
How long do you think the guy in the back kept staring at this while walking?
X5 wheels look better here than on the X5!
Nice pop from those red faces

Winter Wednesdays: IS300 snow day

11

It feels a little weird posting a Winter Wednesday today as it’s actually fairly mild here in the Toronto area (above zereo).

I also can’t remember if it snowed the last seven days but what the hell both of these IS300s are more than worth posting.

I can’t recall where the owner of the one on gumetal one lives but I’m told the owner of the white one lives in a part of Virginia that generally doesn’t get lots of snow.

From what I hear from my friend Colby it also snowed in Texas this year winter so I guess anythings possible.

Pretty sure I posted this car without the snow when I talked about my wheels not fitting (FYI they fit now)
For a State that's not supposed to get a lot of snow they did pretty well
Hopefully no salt found it's way onto these wheels

There is still a little bit of winter left so if you have some photos of your ride in the snow you want to send in just drop me an email.

Thanks to Aidan for sending these two through.
