On the heels of last weeks slightly unorthodox Theme Tuesday I decided to go with something a little more standard this week.
With the Evo IXs slowly starting to trickle onto Canadian streets, and the new Dodge Charger looking oddly Evo X inspired I’ve had these cars on the brain a little bit more than usual lately, which worked well as I had a decent number of them saved on my hard drive as well.
This is actually the second time I have done the evo/lancer platform but I think I manged to pull it off without any major repeats.
Interested to see what this car looks like this seasonThis cars so nice I had it saved twiceProperThese cars laugh at Canadian bumper requirements Moderate stretch, moderate poke, big fan of this lookYou've probably already seen this car alreadyDangerous duoThese cars are great at looking aggressive and functionalFull of winShortly after this photo was taken the owner drove off in a controlled mannerI need lug nuts this color that do not break the bankGettin' on itEven though this color reminds me of the Exorcist puke scene I had to post itReminds me of PunisherWell played Hipermax, well playedHammer down
Since it’s Valentines Day (and because I have this song stuck in my head) I figured it would be appropriate to post these photos of a local female who rolled damn hard in 2010.
I’ve seen this car in person a few times, once at a CSCS event, and then a couple weeks later at a BBQ in Markham, but prior to seeing these shots on JDM Rides I didn’t know of any photos that really captured just how nice this car really is.
CCW Classics + a clean body + healthy drop is always a recipe for success.
Some might say this car is nice for a HondaSome might say nice for a girl's carI just think it's damn nice.
As promised here is the February sticker give away post. The theme of this give away is characters and Seche Media along with Supermade, Sweetie Girl Racing, and Nextmod all came through with an awesome variety of stickers to give away this month.
The format is the same, comment to enter for one of the three available prize packages, the only thing different for this one is that since it’s Valentines day one of the prize packages is only available to the female readers.
I have also included where each sticker came from, and a (purchase price and link if applicable) so that if you don’t win but still want one of the stickers you can support the sponsors of this contest.
The comments for this month’s giveaway don’t have to be related to anything so you are free to say whatever you like because the winners will be determined by a random mathematical draw and not comment quality.
One entry per email address and if you are a female please use whatever name is attached to your email address so when I confirm I know you are a woman.
This give away closes Thursday February 17th 2011 at 10:00pm EST and I will announce the winners bright and early Friday February 18th 2011.
Entry now closed, check back tomorrow to see if you have won!
My friend Josh speaks Japanese and I don’t, which means on twitter (@shiftmo) he follows a number of people that I wouldn’t be able to understand. Amidst what is gibberish to me Josh found this Honda Odyssey.
Any one who has even a partial eye on the Honda Odyssey scene will tell you that here in North America we generally ignore these vans while the Japanese do them up pretty serious. This particular one, called ‘Blenda’ by it’s owner is so nice that it inspired me to put up a rare Sunday post.
A lot of Odyssey owners go crazy with the camber Hoda kept things reasonable
Bridging the language barrier (with help from Google Translate) I’ve learned that this car rides on custom static suspension and 19×9 (et-5/et0) custom painted Work Gnosis GS1 wheels with bronze anodized aluminum lips.
Long cars always look longer dumped
The body work consists of custom Brandy Wine paint and a heavy dose of Noblesse body parts. If anyone wants to help out a little bit by translating further feel free to here at the owner Hoda’s blog.
If you’re like me and can’t read Japanese (or can and are just lazy) enjoy the pics below.
Japanese roads must be heaven because all their cars are slammedThe roof of this van actually isn't just black, it looks like a moon skyColored lips like these need to come over from JDM landI was told a big reason why the Odyssey scene is bigger in Japan is because the rear doors don't slide. The Mazda 3 in the back looks like a 4x4 compared to the OdySummer needs to hurry up and get hereI'll leave off with this one
So once again I had a completely different WTF Friday started then came across something that sent that original post straight to the back burner because of this crazy creation.
Some unique minded individual has took it upon themselves to combine the best(?) parts of two cars that I have never seen in person before, a Yugo 45, and a Lancia Delta Integrale, into one attractive and capable little track monster.
The build threads are unfortunately not in English so I don’t really have to much more to go on other than a bunch of pictures.
The pictures tell a decent story though; the drive line and some of the body work from the Integrale made it over to the Yugo 45. I’m not 100% sure on where the suspension bits came from but I am going to assume Integrale as well.
What is not explained is why exactly the Integrale was deemed unfit to run around in it’s own skin, I guess that doesn’t matter though because this looks ridiculously awesome.
The finished beastA shot of the engine bay before it was paintedThe body work integrated so wellThe pile of tools or parts near his feet intrigues meEnkei rims pop up everywhereWhy build it if you are not going to drive it?
I know a few of you wouldn’t be to happy if I didn’t say where to get more info so here are both build threads. remember they are not in English: BH Tuning build thread
The difference with this contest is because it is going on Valentines day one of the sticker packages will be available only to the ladies.
I am going to need some help dividing up the ladies package so girls keep an eye on the facebook page over the weekend as I ask which stickers you would like.
Flashback Friday
Last year, ten days from now, around this time I went to the Toronto International Autoshow, and while I am not sure if I am going to go this year I figured I would throw it back to last years coverage.
Starting to see quite a few of these on the road now, in this color
Picking up my wheels tomorrow after the center bore adjustment so who knows maybe I will throw up a test fit post.
It’s been a little bit since I posted that clean as hell Fortune Auto Datsun 510, and even longer since I posted a 280z so to break the Datsun drought here is a 280z out of Quebec that looks quite proper dressed in all black and wearing 16×9 and 16×10 3pc Simmons wheels as asphalt kickers.
I’m very impressed the owner was able to keep this car so clean in Quebec because from what i hear the roads in QC are not very great and they salt quite a bit.
This shoot was taken while the snow was beginning to fall in QuebecQuite like this shotthe owner did a really great job taking these photosNothing better than a clean FairladyLooks like Darth's got a new ride
Since the last bagged Subaru I’ve posted I learned a few things. The first being is that more people seem to dig bagged Subarus than not and the second is that more people are bagging Subbies than I originally thought (apparently it’s big in Australia).
It’s always cool to see people breaking new ground with air ride on different platforms, because some cars sure do put up a hell of a fight when you try to wrestle them to the ground.
The legacy aired outThis road sucks.Actually, now that I think about it I have not see too many Legacys of this gen moddedWell fittedHella horns should come in black, I think I spy a daily driver sticker alsoRollin' Out
From what I have read it doesn’t seem like the owner is done with this car so you can keep up with his progress the same place I found the last one, on Stanceworks, more pictures there too.
(If you took these photos and want credit thrown up let me know in the comments)
Pat Cyr, Dan Cyr, and Drift Possee are awesome. I keep saying this because it continues to be true as evident from today’s photos I lifted from Dan’s wall.
In the winter months Pat tends to do a lot of the following two things: work on his competition car, and slide his winter car, which also happens to be an ae86. When asked on facebook where Pat gets all his AE86’s Dan simply replied:
“Ever seen the show Hoarders?”
While I don’t think Pat is a hoarder I do think that he has some sort of Corolla radar that lets him know where all the hachi’s are.
I know a lot of you out there wish you had a summer and winter ae86Snow provides great cooling for brakes...My car looks like crap snow covered, Pat's, mean. FML
Oh, and Pat’s elbows deep in rebuilding his track car again so be sure to check his build progress on DriftPosse.com.
My apologies to some of you for today’s Theme Tuesday as it’s a little random and outside of the box. However I think a large part of my audience visits because the site is a little more general automotive focused than your typical stance blog, and a lot more stance focused than your typical automotive blog.
Or at least that’s the excuse I am using to explain the fact that I go from posting e46s to classics, to IS300s, to today’s topic car Morris Minors without skipping a beat.
These British economy cars first peaked my interest when I noticed that people seemed to love to stuff large displacement American engines (often with blowers) in their small engine bays.
Once I found out about that it was all downhill from there….
Lovin' the color on this oneAlso dig the Mighty Mouse mural
Edit: Turns out the above isn’t a Morris (whoops) but its staying anyway
Doesn't look like there is a lot of wind sheild left to see around that blowerI would have loved to get a shot of this closed upBecause it looks like it has killer stanceThis one reminds me of an old banker or something because of the visorThis traveler has got a lot of American influenceMore big motor, small carWonder how they are to work on after swapsThe team bhp watermark seems fitting hereOllie submitted this track burnerAlong with this one that I think I may have posted once beforeGuess it's all about the power to weight with these17Vintage photo of a rodded up MinorThis ones seems proportioned way different than the rest, the tire setup maybe? Finally some good old fashioned tire smoke to end things off
Props to Ollie once again for helping out with a couple I couldn’t find.
Should be back with something more traditional next week… maybe 🙂
Saw this amazing Highboy on Go With Solo immediately did a little bit of digging to pull up a few more photos. It’s awesome, and different, to see a clean 32 riding this close to the ground . Normally they are a little higher or have more going on overall but this car just gets straight to the point without unnecessary frills.
It’s built by Michael Moal of Moal coachbuilders and I am pretty sure it’s sitting on their new Moal 32 T-bar Chassis which uses indy inspired suspension so it’s sure to handle just as well as it looks.
I would gladly have this beauty sitting in my garage if given the chance.
Just looks so proper so low to the groundUber clean overallClassic Hot Rod rakeNice from the back tooBet she sounds awesomeMore rods should be built like this...
More info on Michael Moal and his creations can be found at Moal coachbuilders.
