Went out with the Stance Is Everything staff photographers, aka my friend Keven and my girlfriend, and we tried some rolling shots for the first time. We were inspired by this video so we set out and find a remote area of the suburbs of Mississauga and got down to work. I wish we had a fourth person because a picture of how we were doing it would have been pretty amusing. Let’s just say that it was good we had a KIA soul on hand as one of the camera cars.
Once Keven’s set is post processed I will post up those ones as well, once the process is perfected we can start shooting some of the peoples rides who asked for photo shoots thus far.
I saw this video posted on JDMrides.ca and knew immediately that I had to share it with more people. I am not sure whats in that UK water but these are consistently cranking out high quality videos of their scene. However their is no doubt in my mind that with guys like Chris Hoare in our scene that we will soon be cranking out more dope videos of our own.
Taking it back to challenge mode this weeks WTF Friday, I have three rides this week that some of you may have never seen or heard of before. The first people to correctly identify these cars will win a set of stanceiseverything.com stickers in the color of their choice once the stickers arrive from Seche Media (first set got lost in the mail so a new set is en route).
Site Updates
Getting mentioned on Hellaflush last Sunday was a big deal for me (another goal crossed off my list) and helped Stance Is Everything fan Stanley’s dream come true which is awesome.
I have a readers ride waiting to go up, and a new featured photographer in que. I am also working on a little editorial/article that should be out of my head and onto some paper (then the web) soon enough.
No show coverage or anything this weekend (Thanksgiving here in Canada) but I think Keven (who shot these) my gf (who shot these) and I will be experimenting with some rolling shots on the weekend so there will probably be some more exclusive photos next week as well.
For those of you in the GTA celebrating Thanks Giving have a safe one and for those of you who aren’t have a good one anyway.
For every handful of great cars in the GTA there is a slightly smaller handful of photographers to go with them. I’m trying to hijack some of them for this blog but others just do the damn thing so well that I have to give respect where respect is due. Chris Hoare is one of these photographers, I spotted his blog not to long ago when he featured an amazing unique 72 Celica and have been checking it weekly ever since. He recently did his first video and it’s of the CSCS event I covered recently so I figured I would share it with those of you who can’t get enough CSCS coverage.
CSCS 2009 Season Finale – Slippin’ n’ Slidin’
You can check out more of Chris’s work here and when your done checking out his site be sure to remember who sent you 😉
I’ve been wanting to take a trip out to Cayuga for awhile and I have been wanting to go to a CSCS event for just as long so it figures that when I finally had the time to go to one the weather was a mixed bag of nuts. The weather eventually led to the cancellation of the drag racing and had the show and shine guys spent more time drying their cars than showing them but I still took quite a few pics. I am going to start breaking up my event coverage into easier to load pieces (about 30 photos per post) so this is part 1 of the coverage; Random stuff, Drag, Paddock Cars, and Drifters.
Random Stuff
Like every other show I go to I took pics of interesting things that caught my eye, Zombieland taught me to appreciate the little things, go see that movie by the way.
Drag Cars
I Didn’t get a lot of drag pictures at all since whenever I went over there it seemed to be raining and when it wasn’t I was eating, I plan on going to a few drags next year so you 1/4 junkies will have to stick around for awhile.
Paddock Cars
These cars were either lapping or competing in the un-registered hard parking (spectating like myself) event .
Drifters
The Drift event was pretty interesting due to the ever changing track conditions. Some people who did well during practice didn’t do so well during qualifying and vice-versa. I didn’t get to stick around for the finals so I don’t know who won…
That’s it for now, check back later today for photos of the cars in the Show & Shine
The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: Mean Miatas
I’m fully capable of admitting when I’m wrong, and as young lad I was wrong in my assumption that Miatas were a chick car, in my defense my attractive female neighbor did drive one.
However sometime after I saw my first 5.0 swapped Miata I decided to do a little research on these small Mazdas and my tune completely changed. Miatas are a real ‘drivers’ car and since starting this blog I have come across quite a few magnificent looking ones, here are a few.
As always if you want to see a certain theme for next week let me know via the comments.
Sometimes I think the idea of six degrees of separation isn’t just an idea or theory but an actual fact of life, and this featured ride is a perfect example.
I sent the picture to my friend Keven who told me that the car was actually owned by his girlfriends father Dale this set the wheels in motion to get this Impala the shine time it deserves on Stance Is Everything.
Dale saved this 62 Impala from becoming a potential rats nest in the confines of a dusty barn in Vancouver British Columbia and transformed it into the beautiful piece of machinery you see before you today.
Once Dale picked up the car he chose to go the resto-mod route which meant the first stop was the paint booth for a little TLC.
Once the interior and exterior got some love a stealth air ride system was added along with oversize torque thrust wheels which compliment the freshly rejuvenated chrome bumpers and trim.
The Impala is noe Dale’s weekend toy which he loves to show off at local Toronto area cruise ins.
In one final example of six degrees of separation Dale’s wife is a flight attendant who happened to have Chip Foose on one of her flights, and after a few how do you do’s Dale is now the owner of a personally signed marker and pen illustration of his Impala.
Some guys have all the luck.
Thanks to Keven for shooting these photos for me, and Dale for allowing us to feature his ride.
Expect to see a lot more photos from Keven on this site as he is about as down as it gets in support for this blog.
As always if you want your car featured send me an email at [email protected]
Anyone remember the game Crazy Taxi? It was a pretty good arcade game back in the Cruis’n USA days. Since I live close to the only surviving Playdium I played a lot of crazy taxi, this doesn’t really have much today with today’s post other than the fact that these are some Crazy Taxis.
I am not sure what country modified taxi’s are from but it seems like it’s not a one off deal. Modifying a taxi seems a little counter productive since I couldn’t imagine people liking it when you slow down to a crawl to get over a speed bump so the kit on your taxi doesn’t scrape but what do I know.
Ninja Edit: Hey guys I forgot this earlier but another great week here at Stance Is Everything, daily traffic keeps going up by leaps and bounds and I am gathering a few comments each week as well which means people are participating in discussions. This Saturday I plan to head out to the last CSCS event (weather permitting) for some new event coverage content for Wed and on Monday I have a sick exclusive feature car get stoked!
