Guest Coverage: Illmotion Sunday School Show & Shine 2012

Canadian readers have probably heard of Illmotion before but for those of you may not have Illmotion is a group of enthusiasts from Calgary who in 2010 decided their scene needed a bit of a kick in the pants. Last Sunday they had their second annual "Sunday School" show and shine at the Max Bell centre in Calgary and like other great events in the Calgary area guest contributing photographer Mike McConnell was there.

Featured Ride: Jon’s Mazda 3

Like a lot of other platforms the Mazda 3 community can be broken down into three groups when it comes to wheel fitment. Group one consists of those who are quite vehemently opposed to stretched tires and shudder at the thought of camber outside of factory spec, while group two consists of those who are not afraid of making significant body modifications to push fitment to the limit of the chassis.

Event Coverage: 2012 CSCS Round 3 Part 2

Continuing where things left off yesterday today's coverage consists of  the cars that caught my eye in the pits along with coverage of the show and shine. The Round 3 show and shine was actually a lot larger than these pictures illustrate but once the weather took a turn for the worse I focused my efforts more on track coverage and staying dry.

Event Coverage: 2012 CSCS Round 3 Part 1

Leading up to the second ever Canadian Sport Compact Series stop at Mosport Raceway the CSCS staff  announced that both time attack and open lapping were full, and at the same time they let everyone know that there was a $500 prize for the largest show and shine team. Combined these two factors lead to a very busy day at Mosport last Sunday, even after the rain tried to cool things down for everyone in attendance.

Event Coverage: Mosport DMCC 2012: Show And Shine

Before I get into coverage from the events that took place this past weekend I ought to finish off the coverage from the previous weekend so with that here is the show & shine coverage from the 2012 DMCC Mosport event. Put on by Carlos of SLC Productions the show & shine this year wasn't as big as I remember from 2010 but it did have a decent mix of cars and since it was actually cheaper to enter the show and shine than pay for 2 regular price admissions a lot of people who wouldn't normally show (like myself) entered.

Theme Tuesdays: GTA Then and Now

After posting the Trial Widebody 2010 vs 2012 picture on the fan page I realized that with the amount of back content the site has I could do the same for a number of local vehicles, so for this Tuesday I've done just that. To prevent things from getting too out of hand I have limited it to cars that have seen multiple revisions over the years rather than a one year change but I am not opposed to doing another one of these at the end of the year to include 2011 year end to 2012 year end differences.

Guest Coverage: Eurokracy 2012

Despite the wet weather last years Eurokracy drew quite a crowd proving that European car enthusiasts are not the type to let a little water get in the way of good times and low cars. This year the Eurokracy team started promoting the show six months in advance and once the weather cooperated breaking last years attendance record was no problem at all.

Event Coverage: CSCS Beach Burnout 2012 Pt. 2

Back with the second and final part of the Coverage from CSCS Beach Burnout at Grand Bend, which is exclusively track activity. You'll probably notice straight off that bat that there are no drag shots in today's post, that's because most of the vehicles I saw on the strip were pretty well stock and didn't make for the most exciting photos.

Event Coverage: CSCS Beach Burnout 2012 Pt. 1

My girlfriend grew up in a small town near London called Dorchester and would spend many a weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex, her fond memories of the venue had me looking forward to going for the first time at last Sundays 'Beach Burnout' event hosted by CSCS. While like all CSCS events (when it doesn't rain) it was a good time I think the turnout was definitely hindered by the fact that Grand Bend is quite a ways from the city, which is a shame because Grand Bend is a great race facility with reportedly one of the fasted quarter miles around and has food far superior to Cayuga.

Event Coverage: Scarborough Scion FR-S Launch

Two Saturdays ago Scarborough Scion (aka the dealership trusting enough to let me test drive an FR-S at Stretch & Poke) had a launch party for the 'Toybaru" inviting Toyota/Scion owners and their friends to come out for good times and good (free) food. The show & shine turnout wasn't crazy but the amount of people who wanted to drive the new Scion was, the cars were out being test driven the entire night by those eager to see what all the hype was about.

Guest Coverage: Vanfest 17

Those from out of town, or those of you who don't follow the local truck scene, might be wondering why I keep making reference to a show called 'Vanfest'. Well, despite it's name Vanfest isn't just a refuge for 'vanners' who like heart shaped windows and velour interiors, it's also a haven for minitruckers who enjoy a good party.

CSCS through the lens of Charles Spivak

I've been a fan of Charles Spivak's work since he first sent in Guest Coverage of a Drift Ops event at Shannonville in 2011. After the 2012 CSCS opener came and went, and photos began to surface online, I noticed one of his photos on the Circuit Soul fan page and honestly couldn't believe it was from the same event I was at.
