Event Coverage: Mosport DMCC 2012: Qualifying

To me a great drift event shares a lot of similarities with a great BMX event. Parts get destroyed, knuckles get bruised as frantic repairs are made, women get heckled (and men get heckled right back), there's a guy with dreads (sometimes named Grant) rapping in the corner, more than 70% of the crowd is cheering for the hometown hero and you get a chance to catch up with friends you may only see once a year All of the above combined with incredible driving are what make DMCC events at Mosport so damn enjoyable and truly make me wish there were more stops out this way.

Event Coverage: CSCS Beach Burnout 2012 Pt. 2

Back with the second and final part of the Coverage from CSCS Beach Burnout at Grand Bend, which is exclusively track activity. You'll probably notice straight off that bat that there are no drag shots in today's post, that's because most of the vehicles I saw on the strip were pretty well stock and didn't make for the most exciting photos.

Team Titoboy Approved

Titoboy Approved, a local appearal and lifestyle brand, has teamed up with YOKOHAMA Canada for 2012 with the goal of developing one of the top tuning teams in Canada. They started off a little quiet and secretive with just a few teasers here and there but now they are ready to make some real noise.

Event Coverage: CSCS Beach Burnout 2012 Pt. 1

My girlfriend grew up in a small town near London called Dorchester and would spend many a weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex, her fond memories of the venue had me looking forward to going for the first time at last Sundays 'Beach Burnout' event hosted by CSCS. While like all CSCS events (when it doesn't rain) it was a good time I think the turnout was definitely hindered by the fact that Grand Bend is quite a ways from the city, which is a shame because Grand Bend is a great race facility with reportedly one of the fasted quarter miles around and has food far superior to Cayuga.

Theme Tuesdays: Flush Trucks/Drift Trucks

It used to be that modified trucks did a few things; went up and off road, down and layed sparks, or dropped and down the strip. Lately however people seem to be experimenting with wider wheel and tire setups in addition to sending them around road courses. Based on the demand and love for Oliver's truck on the fanpage and positive reception of Riley's drifting Nissan Hardbody it's safe to say a lot of you are into trucks outside of the norm just as much I am which is cool because I love low trucks of any variety.

Don’t play no games that he can’t win

Previously featured photographer, Dormimoto Odd Couple homie, Static Motion owner and proprietor, and all around good guy Santiago (Santi) Gomez recently sent in some photos of his completed Supermade Silvia project. The car was super clean when he got it and every since stock has only improved on the car with the current revision perhaps being the best yet.

Guest Coverage: Vanfest 17

Those from out of town, or those of you who don't follow the local truck scene, might be wondering why I keep making reference to a show called 'Vanfest'. Well, despite it's name Vanfest isn't just a refuge for 'vanners' who like heart shaped windows and velour interiors, it's also a haven for minitruckers who enjoy a good party.

CSCS through the lens of Charles Spivak

I've been a fan of Charles Spivak's work since he first sent in Guest Coverage of a Drift Ops event at Shannonville in 2011. After the 2012 CSCS opener came and went, and photos began to surface online, I noticed one of his photos on the Circuit Soul fan page and honestly couldn't believe it was from the same event I was at.

Theme Tuesdays: Duallys Part II

After a cottage bachelor party weekend a little recovery time was in order (hence the lack of Monday post), so this weeks Theme Tuesday gets lead off honors and as such I might as well go with something big. The last dually Theme Tuesday went over very well so I had started pulling together a second almost immediately after.

Event Coverage: 2012 CSCS Season Opener: Pt. 2

Back with the second and final part of the CSCS season Opener coverage with today focusing on the show & shine and Stretch & Poke Fitted showcase. The CSCS show & shine is always an interesting mix of cars and I have tried to capture a lot of them here, I missed out on a couple between heading back and forth to the track and talking to people but there is a good mix of what was there in this coverage.

Event Coverage: 2012 CSCS Season Opener: Pt. 1

Shasha AnisIf you listened to the weatherman all week long than you are probably some of several people who skipped out on CSCS opener this weekend which is a shame because outside of a few quick showers most of the event was actually dry. The drag strip was busy most of the day (until a particularly hard rainfall) and the road course saw heavy use by both the time attack drivers and the drifters.

The Wheel Estate

After the Hot Wheelz & Tirez customer appreciation show and shine Yudi (aka Kingpin) rolled his car out back so I could get a few additional pictures of his current wheel setup. On the passenger side are the silver polished 19×9 -10/19×10 -6 Leon Hardirtt Waffle wheels you probably remember from his feature and on the drivers side are the similarly sized, previously gold, BBS LMs he had on at Megaspeed.
