Ass, Ass, Ass, Ass

7

There is a fair chance a lot of you have only seen this Supra from the rear.

Even though it is an older build my first and only exposure to it for the longest time was that one lone picture of its ass.

Arguably the car looks best from the rear, but the rest of it isn’t all that bad either especially when you take into account the wide body isn’t an off the shelf kit and the twin turbo 2uzfe motor has been heavily worked over.

It also isn’t straight black like I assumed but a cherry black color from a Supercharged Jaguar XJ.

Wide mouth kids are perfectly acceptable when you have the inter cooler to go with
Wonder what came first, the wide body or the wheels?
God bless Elite Custom Auto body for not putting a wing on the back of this
Closer look at the Cherry Black Metallic
Next to the rear perhaps the most beautiful part of the car
The famous ass shot

A brief build thread on this car with a little more info can be found here, and the builder says that it spends most of it’s time locked away and no one really sees it.

Possible ebay find one day?

I might have written this entire post just so I had an excuse to post this gif in context.

Easily the only good thing about the (Dance) Ass song.

Winter Wednesdays: Proof

1

A couple weeks ago a picture of Alex’s Lexus SC at Blue Mountain made it’s way to the fan page and two things about said picture were quickly disputed.

One, that his car is Lexus SC (and not a Toyota Soarer) and two the fact that he does indeed daily drive it like it as it appeared in the photo.

I’m not even sure why the first item is up for dispute, Alex owns the car so if he says it is a Lexus SC400 then it is a Lexus SC400, and for proof of the other disputed item he sent in some more photos.

The XXRs are old news so that is why they now see winter duty.

Pictures by Mr Pascua.

Not sure what the summer wheels are but I am sure he will send photos along once they are on.

Theme Tuesdays: VW Harlequin’s Part II

10

In trying to keep some variety in the Theme Tuesdays (and posts in general) I decided to keep the import and American Theme Tuesdays on the hard drive this week and do something else.

Originally the plan was to finalize the Type A Theme Tuesday but after stumbling across the first Harlequin in today’s post that was put on the back burner.

I never expected this theme to make it to a second round but I’m glad it did.

A lot of these are photos of the same car with different wheels but considering they were made in limited numbers I’ll take what I can.

My search for Type-As lead me to this
Pretty sure this is @dannytherice on twitter
Kind of reminds me of spokey dokes
1 piece BBS RF? New one to me
Not sure what wheels these are... sure one of you know... starks maybe?
Mustard cups
Doo doo brown... working surprisingly well
Image RN-4s evidently, do not see a lot of 4 spokes
Posted this one a couple times over in part 1, and a few more times today
4x4 Crossfire back there
Ladies are also fans
80s flashback?
Hell ya this
One thing I noticed about Harley owners is they love to collect stuff that matches their car
Amazing tank setup is amazing
I read this is actually not an original Harley but painted as such, I don't know how to tell
Playing doubles
More of the same
Whenever I see these I am reminded of AndreNY's old e30
Maybe I should have sorted these by base color... too late
Bringing up the rear...

I don’t think I have posted a Fire and Ice yet… maybe look into those in the near future

Thread full of Harlequins here.

Featured Ride: Taylor’d Customs 57 Chevy 3200

4

If this truck could talk prior to becoming part of the Taylor’d Customs fleet it would have told  the same stories any other 54 year old truck would.

Tales of journeys to and from work or the farm, first dates, and perhaps a trip to a hospital for a child birth (or two) are nothing out of the ordinary of a truck this vintage.

Dragging frame from from Ajax Ontario to Ohio though? That is a little less typical and a welcome turn of the page in the history of this awesome 57 Chevy 3200.

With several award winning custom builds under his belt Blair Taylor of Taylor’d Customs picked this truck up as a side project completely stock in August of 2011 and three short months later had it laying in the weeds at Dropt and Destroyed October of 2011.

Behind a grill that has swallowed its fair share of country mile now sits a freshly rebuilt ‘low horsepower’ Chevy 350 motor.

Low horsepower is of course a matter of perspective because based on his other builds and the impressive growl audible in the video recently released on the Talyor’d Customs Facebook page this truck could probably put vehicle or two to shame while leaving a trail of sparks in its wake.

The 350 sits on top of a Heidts Mustang II front end with custom lower control arms, and the 57 three speed transmission bolted to the back of it is mounted to a lifted cross member.

The original bed, which used to carry lord knows what, has had it’s floor removed to clear the massive 8 inch notch and custom triangulated, square bar, four link suspension necessary to get this truck to lay out completely flat.

When the time is right to get up and go slam bags at all four corners are aired up with dual Viair 444 compressors.

Static fans don’t fret this truck doesn’t ride high and park low, it rides low and parks lower.

Exterior wise Blair kept this trucks character intact by not removing the multiple layers of paint on the exterior, instead he took just a little bit of sheen off with a buffing pad giving it a very nice looking patina that doesn’t look forced.

The only modern addition that can be found on this trucks exterior are the 20″ Foose wheels that spend most of their time buried in the fenders.

Inside a 61 Chevy Impala bench seat keeps occupants in place while the rest of the interior, save for the floor mats, are factory 57.

Big thanks to Blair and Kristina for letting me put together this feature and inviting me to check out the shop which I will be doing in the next few weeks.

I really look forward to seeing what else Taylor’d has in store for 2012.

WTF Friday: SC-ary

7

Posting a WTF Friday critiquing a donk might be a tad hypocritical or ridiculous after posting this awesome cartoon on the fan page earlier this week but it just so happens that this particular donk is a LOT of ridiculous.

Now I can generally respect (or at least tolerate) a well built donk, but this SC….

Mangled fenders, missing center caps, and just an odd overall stance (even for a donk) make this car look quickly pieced together.

Man I don't even...
Poor Lex...
This puts the ground clearance into perspective...
Fitment?
Ha.

Another weird thing is this was not spotted in Florida or Atlanta (which seem to have large donk communities) it was spotted in Shawnee Kansas.

As always it could be worse.

Site Updates

On Monday I’ll have a feature going up that I’ve been waiting to do for a long time now. Those of you who have been paying attention here and on the fan page probably have an idea what it is and it is well worth the wait.

Other than that I plan to catch up on a few orders this week, T-shirt orders suddenly picked up out of no where.

Flashback Friday

Posted one dope Euro this week so why not another?

Hopefully this gets the above image out of your mind.

Immaculate.

And now for something completely different

9

How about a little change of, well… pace for today?

Change in the way of a 1979 Mustang pace car that has been done up pro touring style with Roush/Wilwood big (huge) brakes, a beautifully redone interior, custom 8.8 rear end, mini tubs and…

bags to put this right car at exactly the height the owner wanted.

According to the owner:

The Suspension feels great. Its not quite as soft/smooth as I thought it might be, but it definitely rides better than the car did on springs. Handles so much better than it ever did before too.

I feel safe in assuming previous featured ride owner Phil is cool with this.

Where I found it

Oh I almost forgot. The owner picked this up to drop between the fenders.

Ya dig?

How many times is too many times?

13

This will be the third time I have dedicated a post to this A3.

Outside of Pedro’s car (who is local) and the EuroProjektz build I don’t think I have posted any other A3 quite as much.

Every time I see new photos of this car I just can’t seem to help myself.

Obsessed? Maybe.

Just a gorgeous stance
If you are on board with fitment like this then you agree this looks... perfect

Best looking A3 ever?

Via.

If you are wondering it didn’t snow this week so no Winter Wednesday, hell it is 5 degrees out right now.

Theme Tuesdays: CRXs

8

I am a little puzzled as to how I could have seriously gone so long without doing CRX Theme Tuesday considering I have already done Accords, Wagonvans, and Preludes.

Seems like it would have been an obvious choice considering a friend of mine had a sick green one for awhile, must have just slipped my mind.

Until today of course.

This car is perfect and was in every thread I looked for photos
Another angle for good measure...
One of The Chronicles picks for best Honda of 2011...
Team Rice? Hardly.
I had no clue these Straman CRXs existed before doing this post
Infinitwheels.com car, wheels kind of look like RC car wheels
I like where this is headed
Ditto for this
Damn this car looks good... and judging by the photo is pretty old

Don't think I have ever seen a set of these wheels before
Love this color
Clean car, looks like cold day

Those wheels are love hate... where do you stand?
Close things out with this absolute beauty
Damn.

Props to all the CRX owners keeping these things in one piece.

Featured Ride: Moneesh’s RX-8

15

2011 saw a lot of people take extreme measures to build something that stands out in what has become an increasingly competitive scene.

In an attempt to separate themselves from the latest internet sensation some arguably took things a little bit too far.

Montreal native Moneesh didn’t do this, instead of setting out to launch the ‘fitment bar’ to the moon he upgraded his car with modifications that compliment the RX-8’s factory figure letting the final result speak for itself.

Open 1024px version in a new window

Open 1024px version in a new window

Passing on the variety of body kits available for the RX-8, Moneesh added a simple, yet effective, EVO-R carbon fiber lip to the front end of the car.

This lip really adds some aggression to the front end, especially when combined with the slightly raked profile provided by Stance GR+ coilovers

Open 1024px version in a new window

Open 1024px version in a new window

For wheels Moneesh chose Enkei RPF-1s in 18×9.5 and 10.5 sizing at +15 all around wrapped in 225/40 and 245/40 Flaken FK45 tires respectively.

This tasteful wheel and tire package fills out all four corners of the car beautifully while still allowing Moneesh to navigate the notoriously horrendous Montreal roads at speeds worthy of a red sports car.

Open 1024px version in a new window

Not having to worry about popping out his JDM clear corners at every bump Moneesh mostly concerns himself with keeping an eye on the local PD while enjoying his various performance modifications outlined below.

After all what use would they be if he couldn’t flog on the car every now and again?

Moneesh’s car is a reminder that you don’t need to go over the top to create an appealing ride and is a great way to start off the features of 2012.

WTF Friday: 2JZ Trike?

10

Trikes by design are a little weird. They are not quite a motorcycle, and not quite a car and often piloted by people with big beards and awesome bandanas.

Today’s trike isn’t just a little weird it is a lot of crazy and comes from @clintjollygreen via twitter.

Clint spotted this single turbo 2jz powered trike at an Ama superbike race in Wisconsin.

The builder who he describes as an older gentleman was originally going to power this with the very reliable Chevy 350 until he decided to throw caution to the wind and do something different.

You see this in your rear view... what do you do?
Passenger seat looks a little scary
I wonder what sort of regulations there are around trikes?

I suppose his desire to be different also explains the monster head?

Site Updates

I Have not had much of a chance to work on the new design since last week but plan to bang out a few more lines of code this weekend.

I’m also working on a new feature which I am going to hopefully wrap up this weekend and I’ve just been invited to check out a local custom shop so that should help break the winter up nicely as well.

Flashback Friday

Look back at the last trike I posted, guess the passenger seats do get used.

“Bet that thing would go a hell of a lot faster if the bitch on the back fell off!”
