Bounce and Boom

8

This Mk5 Fiesta is one of  is one of the more unique builds I have come across this month and part of this is because we don’t get this flavor of Fiesta in North America.

However, the rest of the reasons I like this car have nothing to do with this cars availability to me and everything to do with the owners choice in modifications.

For example when was the last time you saw a car with hydraulic suspension that didn’t have wires?

In addition to the suspension choice the wheels on this Ford also stand out, at first glance they may seem a little small but take a look at the fitment in the rear three quarter shot when the car is laid out, on point.

At the end of the day this car is just clean from bumper to bumper and that is what sets it off and I honestly can’t say I would want to see a single thing about this car changed, ever.

Theme Tuesdays: Classic American Trucks

4

I’ve been posting the odd classic truck (50s to early/mid 80s) both here and on the fan page for the past few months but for whatever reason I have never really posted them in mass.

Today is the the day I change that.

Quite a few of these trucks are fat fender Chevys or squared up C-10s but don’t take that as a sign of me being a Chevy over Ford guy.

I just happened to be searching for a particular Chevy when I came across most of these pics.

Yep, that is how I am starting this one.
Looks like that bumper takes care of any debris that might be in the way
Super smooth 55
Similar vintage of truck not quite as shaved or painted
Perfect what I assume to be static drop
52 Chev in original patina
I picked up a LOT of c-10s
I think seeing this truck laid out on an even surface would do it even further justice
This looks pretty rad... but please do not do it to a late model car
Look at the size of those tubs... ride low park lower!
You just know the owner of this truck gets asked if he would sell on a weekly if not daily basis
Found on road...slammed?
Step side > Fleet side with most 50s/60s trucks
Extended cab short bed?
Does this remind anyone else of the cab from Who Shot Roger Rabbit? Still sick though
Snub nose fans this is for you
For those who say lowered trucks lose all their practicality...
It is an absolute must that I attend a Good Guys Event
So the picture I was looking for is this truck hitting a pylon driven by a guy with a big beard, can someone find it?
Local Taylor'd customs killin' it

I might do vintage (pre 50s) trucks in the near future, along with a follow up to this theme.

….I might be a Chevy guy.

Håll Classy

5

Provided the fine folks at Google have their act together ‘Håll Classy’ means stay classy in Swedish and Alexander Lindquist (of Sweden) has done a excellent job of staying classy with his W124 200E Mercedes Benz.

Once he took care of the generous factory wheel gap Alex mounted a set of pristine looking 17×8 RH zw1 wheels that are a great match to this cars factory two tone paint.

In addition to a few subtle exterior modifications Alex put some bang in the doors and trunk with components from DLS and JVC.

Alex put this Benz on the floor
I have always loved the prominent grill on older Mercs
The face color of the RH wheels match the two tone nearly perfect
Closer look at the wheels and the fitment
Exceptionally well played Alex

Alex and his friend Martin are also quite the photographers (they each took some of these photos) so be sure to check out each of their flickr accounts for more of the Swedish scene.

Thanks for the submission Alex!

WTF Friday: Rotary Isetta

1

Surprisingly this is the second crazy Isetta to get WTF Friday honors here on Stance Is Everything, the first was a crazy mash of worlds Isetta 500 that had a P51 Mustang (airplane) motor driving the wheels.

Today’s is  slightly tamer borrowing its power plant from an 87 Mazda RX-7.

Another important difference between the two builds lies in the budget. One is unknown and the other was limited to 2010 dollars as that was one of the requirements of the Grass Roots Motorsport Challenge that it was was built for.

Besides a few photos and a short video I can’t really seem to find too much more on this creation, which is a bummer.

So they extended the wheel base a bit...
I would love to find a build thread on this too see how much Isetta is left
The graphics are all original
But I wonder what else is original -- suspension, frame, wheels, drive train obviously not.. original steering wheel maybe?

Gets a little lose around 32 seconds in:

Bonus: It would appear more people have done odd things with Isettas as is evident by these other photos I found looking for more info:

Drag Isetta with what looks to be VW air cooled running gear
Hotwheels What A Drag Isetta

Perhaps a WTF Friday on each of these is in order? Or (this might make my life difficult) an Isetta Theme Tuesday?

Props to Ollie for giving me the heads up on this one.

Site Updates

Stopped by Nextmod last night and along with grabbing a few things for my car (and garage) I also picked up some swag to give away through December and January.

Look out for a post explaining that next week.

Flashback Friday

A 300 popped up for sale on my timeline this morning which reminded me I posted a couple clean ones a long while back.

Down to see more of these done well without lambo doors and such

There are a couple local ones I should catch up with again too…

Have a good one.

3SDM

5

UK based wheel company 3SDM has been forwarding me both studio shots of their wheels and mounted shots for a couple of months now but the most recent use of their ‘0.01’ wheels was the first to really catch my eye.

Kind of unavoidable given the color these wheels are painted, but custom orange finish aside the concave of these 18×9.5 wheels suit this ‘dub well.

Though a car this low and clean you could probably slap Ronal Bears on it and I might like it.

Even though this is a square setup the camber out back really makes it look staggered
My retinas are burning... but it is a good burn

Skoty Chops

2

Some of you might remember me posting a photo of this dropped and chopped model A coupe on the fan page a few weeks ago.

I had felt like as though I was lacking some classic metal in my life so I took to crawling the H.A.M.B.

That Hokey Ass Message Board always delivers the goods and this ride built by Skoty Chops is no exception.

Triangulated rear suspension, borrowed parts from all over the place (including office chairs), an awesome suicide shifter, and that classic hot rod ‘feel’ are just a few of the reasons why I love this.

“People perceive my car as a rat rod I don’t believe it’s a rat rod, rat rods are unsafe and just slammed together vehicles…this car is put together well. People perceive it as a rat rod because of the no paint and the rust look to it but that is just how they did it back then”.

Theme Tuesdays: Subaru Clearance Sale Part II

4

Is it a coincidence that the Subarus I am posting today are essentially the complete opposite of the one I posted yesterday? Kind of.

Last night after watching the Leafs game I didn’t feel much like finishing up some of the more obscure Theme Tuesday ideas I have in the works (ps3 was calling) so I decided to liberate some of the Subarus I’ve had saved for a while.

I seem to always have an overabundance of Subarus on my hard drive anyway.

Apologies in advance for the lack of (more) Legacy, Forrester, and Outback content in this post.

Start things off locally with Chu's car shot by Gawa
Do you prefer this car on Enkeis?
Or CCWs?
CE28s I think... looks great
Classic Rally Blue on gold with exceptionally clean looking paint
Perfect.
Apparently this is in the stance issue of Super Street, I should look grab that
This car is (was?) for sale, the cage work is insane
Function via the Scraped Crusaders
This car is now back to stock and with a new owner 🙁 also via S.C.
Repost but this Forrester is STILL sick
Classy as hell
Half of this is in the dark but the half I can see I enjoy
More GRB awesome
I honestly can't see why some don't like this model STI
This car is extremely well executed, the height, the color, the wheel choice... even down to the lugs
Aired out
This car was all over the internet a month or two ago
And this car is all over the internet now... my facebook feed was crowded with it this morning
As a bonus here is Crazy Leo in action

Crazy Leo: Living The Dream

4

Last Monday Chris Pereira (of the Canadian Sport Compact Series) invited me to locally renowned Subaru tuning shop Can Jam Motorsports to meet 2011 Rally of The Tall Pines winner “Crazy” Leo Urlichich.

After a quick stop off at home for a bite to eat and my camera gear I headed back out to Richmond Hill to meet up with Chris who introduced me to Leo.

Following a handshake and brief small talk Leo decided I had hung around long enough to meet Beast.

Beast is Leo’s current rally car (replacing his previous now street car known as Bastard) and believe me as a fully prepped, sequential geared, monster of a an STI Beast certainly lives up to his name.

Beast and Leo make up two thirds of the combination that conquered the Tall Pines course in Bancroft  the previous weekend in a total time of 1:59:04.8.

The final piece to the winning puzzle was Leo’s co driver for the event Martin Brady whom I was informed is ‘proper big’ guy as they adjusted the harness to fit my much smaller frame.

Once we left the shop it was Beast who took over introducing me to Leo, the real Leo, the one people call ‘Crazy’.

As Leo expertly piloted Beast around a few neighboring back roads it became very quickly aware that Leo knows how to drive the heck out of a car. After a few spirited corners and straights of his local test and tune areas Leo gave me a little bit of a crash (we didn’t actually crash) course on rally driving, rally cars, and rally courses.

This is when I realized that if Leo is ‘crazy’ about anything it is rally driving.

Once back at the shop and Leo, myself, and a few others began chatting about all things automotive; Toronto’s stunt driving charge (and the automotive scene in general), Ferrari Testarossas (and other childhood poster cars), and of course his recent win, were all topics of discussion over bubble tea.

When talking with Leo it is impossible to not pick up on the passion behind his words he simply loves rally driving and is 100% dedicated to not only improving himself as a driver but also exposing the sport of rally driving to more automotive enthusiasts in the area such as myself.

To continue to improve his skills Leo plans to attend more state side events next year (including the North American Rally Cup) as well as events here in Canada because for Leo there is no off season or down time, if he is not competing he is out surveying the next course, working on Beast, or networking his way further into the rally community.

In the midst of doing all of this Leo also manages to somehow be very active on both his blog (CrazyLeo.Net) and facebook page (facebook.com/crazyleonet) promoting himself and local rally events as much as possible.

Leo’s current side project is a plan to put on a  driving demo with ride-a-longs in a local quarry to introduce rally inside of the city  in the hopes that this exposure will entice them to attend a true rally event outside of the city.

Ultimately Leo’s goal is to become the best rally driver he can be while bringing the Canadian sector of the sport along with him, and the fact that he was able to keep the Tall Pines trophy in Canada truly means a lot to Leo. The smile you see in the photos is genuine as he is rightfully proud of his accomplishments.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet a handful of professionals in their respective fields (Hockey, Football, BMX, Skateboarding etc) over the years but I can’t think of many who are as genuine  and passionate as Leo.

He is simply one of those people lucky enough to live their dream.

It’s been a minute since I have posted a straight forward slammed S2000 with wheels that sit comfortably inside the fenders.

With the S2000 people are quick to push the boundaries of what is possible in regards to aggressive fitment but this owner took a step back and spun the dial back around to where everything all started:

Nice wheels with big drop.

And it works.

Slam, dish, tuck, dope.
These just fit in there
A hardtop would be the only thing I'd add
The crisp photos compliment the car well also
Fin.

Don’t know much about this car but I do know photo credit goes to S0NMAI.

Hopefully this will hold those of you who visit just for slam until tomorrow because later today I will be posting something quite a bit higher than this.

WTF Friday: Good Sir I Think You Have Had Enough

7

I’m all for one of a kind bodies on top of existing platforms because people have done incredible things with this formula for years. Sadly (in my opinion) this particular example might be the worst thing to happen to the outside of a C3 Corvette since Corvette Summer.

This once Vette known as the Scorpion (not to be confused with the Skorpion) is the result of 6 years of work and made up of a combination of fiberglass and hand crafted sheet metal.

The craftsmanship seems to be there but the eye for an appealing end result? Not so much.

Very 'chiseled' looking body
The square/wedge design kind of reminds me of a cub scout car
Lots of daylight under there..
The Testarossa's legacy is almost tainted by these fins it has left behind
Such odd proportions
Extinguisher... of course

If you are interested in this fine piece of automobilia it is currently up for sale on ebay , 0 bids!

Site Updates

Monday I’ll have some words and pictures from my visit with Tall Pines Rally winner Crazy Leo.

Not exactly ‘stance’ related but it is one of those awesome opportunities I just couldn’t turn down, hope to do more random automotive things like that during the off season.

I am also working on a few recap posts of the 2011 event season along with some year end features. 2011 seems to be racing out the door though so hopefully I can get it all done.

Also I need some help with the American compact Theme Tuesday if any of you have some photos of nice looking Omni’s, Chevettes, Escorts etc.

Flashback Friday

I mentioned the Skorpion up above and the first time I saw that car was at Cruisin’ For The Cure 2009 in Brampton so I’ll toss back to that coverage.

The show was pretty small but it had a pair of cars I had never seen before a Heinkel Micro car and a 1981 HM Vehicles Freeway.

Weird little things.
