The Facebook fan page just surpassed another milestone, 2000 fans, and to celebrate I’ve decided to do one more readers rides for 2010.
As the fan page grows so does the variety of cars posted in the fan photos gallery. Seeing variety is great because it means that I can continue to post all sorts of cars here without worry of losing the collective interests to to speak.
Richard is a fan out in Ireland who drives this clean 318tds, which just might be the first diesel BMW to appear on this site.
Looking clean
Rob’s BMWs
Rob is lucky enough to have two 3 series Bimmers, his summer ride an e30, while his winter an e36. Both dropped of course.
Robs summer BMW, on the rightRob’s winter ride
Tyler’s Hatch
Tyler’s high school car was the green EG below while his current ride is a boosted mini.
Not a bad little EGHe uses the rack to carry his BMX around, as he is also a rider.
Rick’s Ranger
Rick’s got a nice looking Ranger which I am going to show my friend in an effort to get him to drop his.
Rick’s Ranger, the right set of wheels could really set this off
Kevin’s S-10
There are a number of S-10 drivers who are fans which is fine by me as I like S-10s myself.
Kevin’s is flat black with a 5/3 drop.
No shine for Kevin
Daves S-10
Dave has been a fan for awhile now, perhaps one of the first, and I’ve yet to include his truck in a readers rides simply due to oversight. Fourth time around I finally remembered.
Sorry for the overlooks in the past
Cameron’s s-10
The final s-10 in this batch is Cam’s 96 is sitting on a 4/4 drop.
He’s saving up to bag it come spring.
For some reason I don’t think Cam’s s-10 would pull that
Jean Puegot
Jean drives this Puegot 206 which he has set up to go around the track as quickly as possible.
Jean out on the track
Eric’s Rx-8
This RX-8 was uploaded by Eric and is beautiful…
Stock I don’t really like the Rx-8 fenders but dropped I digLookin’ like a serial killer
Dave’s Escort
Not too many people are modifying with North American Ford Escorts these days but Dave isn’t afraid of a little challenge.
He’s currently got the car sitting on Ground Control coil overs and has strut bars installed front and rear. Under the hood it’s got a full exhaust system, and intake but a built 1.8 should be finding its way between the fenders fairly soon.
The best of the N/A Escort body styles in my opinionDave just got a bunch of new tools for Christmas so summer should be serious
Dara’s EJ8
Darah uploaded one picture of his EJ8 and sometimes that’s all that is needed, this car looks great.
Kept simple.
Cary’s Hot Rod
Remember what I was saying about diversity? Here’s some in the form of Cary’s work in progress.
So far so good.
Awesome work in progress
Erik’s Civic and Probe
Erik’s out having fun in his winter beater while his Probe gets a rebuild for 2011
Takes balls to push a slammed car through water on a beachThank’s for reppin Erik!
Dynamic Duo
Emmet upload this shot of a low Mk4 golf and low b16 ek civic.
Damn, I like both but I think I’d choose VW
Steven’s Collection
Steven has had quite the collection of vehicles over the years.
Even though he has hopped around from different types of vehicles one thing remains constant, they are all low.
Classic mini truck style hereLots of man hours in this paint jobDumped Buick land yachtThis Rover looks freaking amazing dumpedIt’s for sale if anyone is interestedSteven’s current project
Will’s Mazda 3
We didn’t really get any snow this week so that’s why there is no dedicated Winter Wednesday but here is a picture of Will’s 3 sedan in a snow fall from earlier this winter.
Rally armor flaps should come in handy this winter
Once again big thanks to everyone who has joined the group and reads the site. It’s a lot of fun coming up with content for you guys and girls.
Not too long ago I was challenged to do a Volvo 240 Theme Tuesday by the human car encyclopedia Joe. Initially I thought this would be hard to pull together as after a few weeks I only had a handful of 240s and 244’s saved. That was until I decided to go over to TurboBricks.com once I was there the list came together very well and very fast.
I always kind of knew older Volvos had a following but I didn’t know people were as faithful to these as they are e30s.
Most of these cars seem built with function in mind as from what I can tell with some persuasion these cars can make some pretty good power, and being RWD good power means great fun.
Look at the size of the wheels that can fit in the rear of these carsThis might be an earlier verison of the car aboveI'm sensing a purpose built trend with these carsThis car is rawSideways with a sidepipe!Stationary photo of the one aboveNot the cleanest on the list but one of the lowestThe same car on widened steeliesSo sick to see these slideSeen this car on the S.W. forums a few timesIs this a working station, or someones backyard?Looks like damn funSideways with a mono wiperStreet SweeperSittin on what I think are Kodiak wheelsOn LM'sTuckin huge front and rearClean rolling shot or a clean car which I think is a little newer than the restDamn this is unique, and from the looks of it out in JapanRollin wagonI had to double take on this one, almost mistook it for an e30All function, but still has formNot at all like the others but I had to throw it in
I’m open to more requests so feel free to suggest some!
Clean Civic’s always seem to resonate with me because I’m so used to seeing them either riced out, rusted out, or a tragic combination of the two.
This particular Civic has been a resident of my hard drive for some time now and I’ve skipped over posting it time and time again, but not today.
Looking at this car again overall I admire it’s simplicity and that is the reason I saved it to my ‘automotive’ folder in the first place.
The thing which may have held me back from posting it previously is the slightly propped hood. It always kind of distracted me when I was looking at photos of the front end of the car.
But I am over that now…. mostly.
Low as you want it.Mudflap clearance is slowly being worked on.Diamond racing must have loved the increase in business the past few yearsFender gap obliterated, the roof spoiler is a nice touch as well
I’m off to hit the slopes on my new snowboard. Catch you guys tomorrow for Theme Tuesday!
Last year I put together a list of twelve automotive blogs I read because I felt the authors of those blogs did excellent work and deserved some recognition for it.
This year the reasons for the list are exactly the same and only the blogs have changed. There are tons of excellent automotive blogs (I am subscribed to 83 and counting) but here is a list of a few I recommend taking the time to check out after you have checked out the latest here.
Like last year this list is in no particular order.
Remember those two awesome Volkswagen Corrados I posted in late August and Early September? Well they both came from Supermade.
Similar to this blog Supermade is a one man show run by a gentleman who has an excellent eye for the cleanest, lowest, and fastest Volkswagen (and Audis) the net has to offer.
I am consistently blown away by the cars that appear here.
Hardparked is the type of blog that is sure to annoy people who take things too seriously. If you want a light hearted look at current automotive trends and news this is where to look.
There is a lot of satire here, but it’s all in good fun, and hey, someone had to say it right?
If you like hot women and hot cars there is a good chance you will like ‘its jdm yo!!!‘ This California based blog run by Tony Lee has a lot of the contributing photography done by the e-famous Keith Cheng aka Key Chain aka the guy with one of the best looking Honda Accords on the net.
Be warned though, this blog certainly pushes the borders of what’s safe for work so depending on your job maybe make it an after work thing.
This post wouldn’t be complete without showing some love to some of the local guys helping put the GTA car scene on the digital map.
Popping up just this year Gillbert along with past featured photographer Matt Berenez (Deathlens) have put in quite a bit of work in on this slammed car appreciation blog.
Their archives are already getting pretty full of a great assortment of cars so don’t sleep.
‘Oh you speak English’ is the blog of Yuta Akaishi, and while you may not be familair with his name you are no doubt familar with his 240z.
His blog is the perfect balance of car culture and random nonsense. It’s a great blog to check out on Monday when work is smacking you in the face with suck after a great weekend.
Another auto/other stuff hybrid V2Lab is run by Ravi who is photographer/artist that’s into anything cool. This includes cars, skateboarding, music, and BMX.
You’ve probably also seen some of his photo work over on Hella Flush and will no doubt see more in the near future.
Have you ever wondered what stance looks like through the eyes of a pink obsessed blond haired female? Will if you have then ‘I Heart Stance‘ is where you ought to be.
I hooked up with (not like that) Taryn via twitter and added her blog to my reader after checking it daily for about a week.
Women don’t often blog about cars with stance so this is a bit of a rare bird.
I originally visited this blog thinking it would be about the technology behind lowered cars, I guess it was the name that made me jump to that conclusion. As it would turn out this blog isn’t about that at all, it’s focus is awesome, classic, traditionally built hot rods and customs.
Remember the uber clean Nasvhille I posted a few months ago? Ya that was found on Lowtech.
‘illmotion‘ is a group of eight car guys from a part of Canada that is much, much, colder than here, Calgary.
For how long they have been around and how harsh their winters are the IM crew has put in a ton of work in the time they have been around. So if you are looking to see what’s going on in a colder part of Canada check them out.
After learning that Solo drives this Job Design Neo Hybrid Celsior I saw at SEMA we exchanged a few emails and from our exchanges I was able to tell that he was my type of car enthusiast.
Like myself he likes everything from VIP to Muscle and back again so his blog contains a great amount of variety.
That wraps up this years list of The 12 Auto Blogs of Christmas 2010 but if you ever want to know which other automotive blogs I really enjoy just check out the blog roll in the right rail.
Everyone have a safe and Happy Holidays and I’ll be back with some more posts on Monday.
When I was doing a little bit of research on the Code Red Firebird I happened to stumble across videos of muscle/classic cars shredding autocross courses at both Good Guys and the Hot Rod Power Tour events, I became a fan nearly instantly.
People often say that old American cars don’t handle well and are meant for cruising, or drag racing. While often this can be true, it seems that there are a number of American car owners who are willing to push their creations around the autocross course with reckless abandon.
Something about seeing these loud, over powered, beautiful beasts rip through some pylons is just so right, and I am really diggin’ it right now.
I’ve been told the largest Good Guys event is in Columbus and involves 6000 cars in three days, this means that it’s just been added to the list of car events I have to make it to before I die.
Anyone run a shipping company that runs from Toronto to Columbus? My only requirement is that whatever crate you ship me in has an air hole.
So damn sweet.Fender clearance? What fender clearance?Love it, I really need to see this in personTempest from the Power TourIs it just me or does it look as though this rat is getting sideways?!o_0
Much respect to this guy for wrestling this car around the course without power steering
This goat can corner
Site Updates
Nothing, I’ve been shopping this week, ha!
Flashback Fridays
Since we are on the topic of Muscle cars here is a flash back to Part 1 of the 2010 Performance World coverage. This show is the only one I’ve got to look forward to for a long time thanks to old man winter!
Bet this could get around the Autocross course in great fashion
Be safe everyone, the 2010 holidays are right at the door.
The 2010 12 Auto Blogs of Christmas should be up tomorrow though I am sure all of you will be too busy to check it.
I know I am not the only person who likes BMW M1s (I’m talking the original ones not the new concept) because I know for a fact a lot of you like the Countach and thanks to Lamborghini’s hand in the design these cars share very similar profiles.
In street trim these cars look a little castrated and out of place but that’s only because where they were really meant to be was out on the track getting pushed to their limit.
I think a good looking street compromise would be race inspired aero kit, drop, and a set of wide BBS wheels.
Somebody with (really) deep pockets get this done, preferably someone in Canada so maybe I could get a chance to see it in person.
What do you think the chances of another mid engine BMW are?Maybe a big set of Ronal Turbo like wheels would work on the street tooThe flares on these cars are full of winImagine this look on the street? Would break necks.
I know the small production numbers will keep what I said above from happening but a dude can dream.
The first time I posted this Firebird from my SEMA car crazy showcase coverage car I made a mistake in identifying it and called it at Camaro. In my defense I am pretty sure they called it the ‘Code Red Camaro’ in this article on Optima. Either way they share the same chassis so I was close..ish.
Yesterday I saw more photos of the car on Go With Solo and figured what better way to make up for my previous mistakes than post some more of it.
This car doesn’t only look good according to the post it can put down some quick numbers on an autocross course as well.
Just beautiful.Just as clean as when I saw itForm = FunctionDo want.
All I need to see now is some video. Found some!
And a little interview:
Now if someone would kindly hand me the keys I will be on my merry way…
I met Patrick through Gillbert of the Scraped Crusaders. Pat is the type that does whatever he wants to his car regardless of whether or not other people are going to like it. If he likes it, it’s done.
I’ve seen this car a few times and the only constants are that it’s always low and always has lots of stickers, other than that it’s never the same twice.
The work he puts into this car hasn’t gone unnoticed either as four of my non car enthusiast friends have text messaged me about seeing Stance is Everything stickers on ‘A Volkswagen with a Christmas tree” over the past couple weeks.
Awesome.
Snow pusherProbably the only car riding low with a Christmas tree in the GTA
A couple of weeks ago in a WTF Friday I mentioned that I was working on a ‘Land Yacht’ Theme Tuesday and that while doing so I realized my knowledge of older, larger, non muscle American metal was fairly limited.
Well I’ve finished the Theme Tuesday, but unfortunately my knowledge of this genre of older American cars didn’t really get all that much better.
No big deal though as I know that these cars look good regardless of whether or not I know the names….
I love the rawness of this car even unfinished it looks fantasticPerhaps the best looking Galaxie 500 I have ever seenI love the contrast of the Candy roofAll you need is low.Vintage awesomeSo many of these cars had such unique front endsPepto PinkAmazing paint workDamn that's a deep blackAnother great vintage photoBig drop, small wheels, satin paintMore roof candyA little smoother than the other YachtsShark nosedThis reminds me of a very rad School BusThe front end of the one I posted that FridayNo shine.More awesome pink
If anyone knows the names of some of these cars and where these photos came from originally feel free to let me know via the comments. I found most of them on various message boards with no original source or shows listed.
This makes me think I should do another ‘Vintage Lowrider Extravaganza‘ Theme Tuesday, but not until after I do a Volvo one 😉
