Snow wise this winter is still continuing to be fairly uneventful in the GTA. Usually it snows while I am at work, then by the time I get off work all of it’s melted, so I don’t really see any of it.
Not that I am really complaining because commuting in even light snow seems to double the time it takes to go anywhere.
Here are two Nissans in fairly light amounts of snow.
Enkei RPF1's are still stalking me, dammitA little bit more snow around this one in the UK
One ‘drawback’ to compiling the Classy Car Model Theme Tuesdays is that I often end up coming across lots of photos of women with cars that are the standard fare, you know, the scantily clad woman with a nice car type of photo.
All of the photos in today’s post were chosen because of the car in the photo, the woman in the photo, or the photography, I’ll leave it to you guys to speculate in the comments what was the determining factor in each. Sorry in advance ladies, also this one may be NSFW.
If this is your first time seeing this photo, you're welcomeA few people sent me this, thanksNice colors in this photoE30 M3s get womenFurther proof of the above factSuicide4x4 Stance?Guess women love NSX's as wellWhich did you notice first?Fat bottom Supra...Slingshot dragsters took a special type of crazyDub loveSomething for the Mini fans...There's a VW van back there some place...Damn pit crews are getting hotter
Man, whats up with all the sick Orange EG’s lately? When I posted this one before I called it an ‘epic save‘ and if the owner keeps doing what he is doing I might just have to upgrade it to best Civic save ever.
Fittingly this B16b powered, pumpkin orange, hatch was voted ‘ Hatchback Of The Month‘ for October on Clubeg6.com. If you ask me it’s well deserved honor.
No gimmicks or unnecessary parts here this car is straight to the point.
Two tone is working amazing.Proof you don't need flashy rims to look good.ASR Subframe, Beaks Bar, K-Sport Lower control armsThis car is on Skunk 2's if you are wonderingLooks like Seibon hood fitment is properFlawless.
When I think of modified Mitsubishi’s it’s normally Eclipse, Lancer, or Evo, but never Mirage. This is probably because the history of the Mirage in Canada is a little confusing. Up until early/mid 2000 Mitsubishi was sold under Eagle and or Plymouth, which meant the Mirage sedan was a Dodge Colt while the hatchback was an Eagle Summit.
I’ve seen a couple modified Colts around town (though few and far between and none within the past five years) but at the time I never made the connection to the cars Mitsubishi heritage.
Regardless there is no doubt in my mind that the modified Colt I did see in Ontario was no where near as nice as this one.
While I don’t have any performance specs on this car but it’s easy enough to tell that this is (now anyway) a turbocharged Mirage (or Lancer if you are in Australia).
This car is full of win, basically. Whats with the kids bike on the rack in the background though?I am going to assume the exhaust was routed to the right for a more direct path
Mighty fine looking Mirage/Summit/Lancer, mighty fine.
Welcome to 2011 everyone! I hope this year is better than the last for all of you and for those of you that rang in the year with firewater I wish you a speedy recovery from the grips of a hangover.
Regardless of what the stats have to say 2010 was a great year for Stance Is Everything. This time last year I was on verge of cracking 75,000 page views total and now that’s easily a monthly number.
Page views aside I’ve made lots of new contacts in the automotive world, got to go to SEMA, and have made ‘e-friends’ with enthusiasts around the world. I really couldn’t be happier with how 2010 went.
I have no idea what 2011 holds but I’m excited to see what happens.
Top Winter Wednesday of 2010
Winter Wednesdays is a bit of a sleeper category, only being active about half the year, but it does really well regardless.
It’s popularity probably has to do with the fact that a lot of people are stuck struggling with winter every year and seeing other low obsessed car folk battle the same conditions helps the winter seem slightly shorter.
In 2010 the most popular Winter Wednesday was the kick off post ‘ A new winter begins‘.
Barrett Jackson Update: A 2008 Shelby GT500 KR just went for $95,000
Top Theme Tuesday of 2010
I have to admit I didn’t see this Theme Tuesday as being the most popular of 2010.
My bets were placed on ‘Girls With Hot Rides Part 2‘ but that one came in second to ‘Clean Civic EG Hatches‘ which was actually posted in 2009, I guess this is your way of subtly suggesting I do another?
The size of these potholes and the damages they cause is simply absurd. Bulgarian car enthusiasts hats off you you, I don’t know how you guys do it with these craters to contend with.
Barrett Jackson update: A 2008 Shelby GT500 KR just went for $95,000
Top Event Coverage of 2010
This was another statistic I was a little surprised about. Part one of the August 22nd CSCS coverage manged to edge out all the other coverage, including SEMA, to rest at the top of the page view mountain in the event coverage category.
Barrett Jackson update: A fuel injected 57 Corvette just went for $177,00
Top Featured Ride of 2010
With no disrespect to the owners of the other awesome cars I featured in 2010 I was rooting for this one to come out on top and I’m glad it did.
This was the first ‘in house’ feature that was done for the site (with help from Elle Marie Photography) and even though the shoot had to be rescheduled a few times, done in two parts, and the editing took longer than expected due to a move Aidan never once complained.
In fact since I’ve met him Aidan has been nothing but super supportive in the growth of this website.
Expect to see more of this car in 2011 as I know he has already purchased a few parts over the winter.
I’ve never seen, or heard of, a Wartburg before. However after checking out Wiki it sort of makes sense as they were a car of East German manufacture that never made it’s way to Canada. Their ‘claim to fame’ was the fact that the motors only had 7 moving parts (three pistons, three connecting rods and a crankshaft).
JThw8 on Vortex ditched the 2 stroke three cylinder with bizarre radiator before the engine configuration and managed to drop in a EJ22 (95-01 Imprezza) motor with the help of a VW Bug torsion assembly and trans axle.
Crazy, I can’t imagine how this thing must handle now as I imagine the original suspension wasn’t designed for this but it sure makes for a great conversation piece.
This is what a Wartburg 311 looks like. The original 7 moving part motor configurationOverhead fan, weird. Now unnecessary parts removed from the trunkEJ22 dropped into place
Site Updates
Once again not much, been a weird past few weeks with Christmas/New Years etc. Been hard enough just trying to maintain a consistent post schedule with all that has been going on 😛
However I have been reaching out to a couple photographers and car owners for features for 2010. Really looking forward to those. One of the features, if everything works out, will take us across the pond and to a type of car I’ve never featured before here.
Don’t worry, it’s low.
Flashback Friday
Being New Years Eve today (and 2011 in some places) it means that tomorrow morning, after festivities tonight, I will be watching the Barret Jackson Auction most of the day.
Which is awesome.
While doing that I will also be putting the finishing touches on the ‘Top Content of 2010’ post, so in anticipation of that here is a link back to last years ‘Top Content Of 2009‘.
Girls with Hot Rides Part 1 remains popular for a couple reasons...
Happy New Years Eve everybody and keep it safe, last thing I want to hear is that some of you wrecked your cars or worse yourselves ushering in 2011.
The Facebook fan page just surpassed another milestone, 2000 fans, and to celebrate I’ve decided to do one more readers rides for 2010.
As the fan page grows so does the variety of cars posted in the fan photos gallery. Seeing variety is great because it means that I can continue to post all sorts of cars here without worry of losing the collective interests to to speak.
Richard is a fan out in Ireland who drives this clean 318tds, which just might be the first diesel BMW to appear on this site.
Looking clean
Rob’s BMWs
Rob is lucky enough to have two 3 series Bimmers, his summer ride an e30, while his winter an e36. Both dropped of course.
Robs summer BMW, on the rightRob’s winter ride
Tyler’s Hatch
Tyler’s high school car was the green EG below while his current ride is a boosted mini.
Not a bad little EGHe uses the rack to carry his BMX around, as he is also a rider.
Rick’s Ranger
Rick’s got a nice looking Ranger which I am going to show my friend in an effort to get him to drop his.
Rick’s Ranger, the right set of wheels could really set this off
Kevin’s S-10
There are a number of S-10 drivers who are fans which is fine by me as I like S-10s myself.
Kevin’s is flat black with a 5/3 drop.
No shine for Kevin
Daves S-10
Dave has been a fan for awhile now, perhaps one of the first, and I’ve yet to include his truck in a readers rides simply due to oversight. Fourth time around I finally remembered.
Sorry for the overlooks in the past
Cameron’s s-10
The final s-10 in this batch is Cam’s 96 is sitting on a 4/4 drop.
He’s saving up to bag it come spring.
For some reason I don’t think Cam’s s-10 would pull that
Jean Puegot
Jean drives this Puegot 206 which he has set up to go around the track as quickly as possible.
Jean out on the track
Eric’s Rx-8
This RX-8 was uploaded by Eric and is beautiful…
Stock I don’t really like the Rx-8 fenders but dropped I digLookin’ like a serial killer
Dave’s Escort
Not too many people are modifying with North American Ford Escorts these days but Dave isn’t afraid of a little challenge.
He’s currently got the car sitting on Ground Control coil overs and has strut bars installed front and rear. Under the hood it’s got a full exhaust system, and intake but a built 1.8 should be finding its way between the fenders fairly soon.
The best of the N/A Escort body styles in my opinionDave just got a bunch of new tools for Christmas so summer should be serious
Dara’s EJ8
Darah uploaded one picture of his EJ8 and sometimes that’s all that is needed, this car looks great.
Kept simple.
Cary’s Hot Rod
Remember what I was saying about diversity? Here’s some in the form of Cary’s work in progress.
So far so good.
Awesome work in progress
Erik’s Civic and Probe
Erik’s out having fun in his winter beater while his Probe gets a rebuild for 2011
Takes balls to push a slammed car through water on a beachThank’s for reppin Erik!
Dynamic Duo
Emmet upload this shot of a low Mk4 golf and low b16 ek civic.
Damn, I like both but I think I’d choose VW
Steven’s Collection
Steven has had quite the collection of vehicles over the years.
Even though he has hopped around from different types of vehicles one thing remains constant, they are all low.
Classic mini truck style hereLots of man hours in this paint jobDumped Buick land yachtThis Rover looks freaking amazing dumpedIt’s for sale if anyone is interestedSteven’s current project
Will’s Mazda 3
We didn’t really get any snow this week so that’s why there is no dedicated Winter Wednesday but here is a picture of Will’s 3 sedan in a snow fall from earlier this winter.
Rally armor flaps should come in handy this winter
Once again big thanks to everyone who has joined the group and reads the site. It’s a lot of fun coming up with content for you guys and girls.
Not too long ago I was challenged to do a Volvo 240 Theme Tuesday by the human car encyclopedia Joe. Initially I thought this would be hard to pull together as after a few weeks I only had a handful of 240s and 244’s saved. That was until I decided to go over to TurboBricks.com once I was there the list came together very well and very fast.
I always kind of knew older Volvos had a following but I didn’t know people were as faithful to these as they are e30s.
Most of these cars seem built with function in mind as from what I can tell with some persuasion these cars can make some pretty good power, and being RWD good power means great fun.
Look at the size of the wheels that can fit in the rear of these carsThis might be an earlier verison of the car aboveI'm sensing a purpose built trend with these carsThis car is rawSideways with a sidepipe!Stationary photo of the one aboveNot the cleanest on the list but one of the lowestThe same car on widened steeliesSo sick to see these slideSeen this car on the S.W. forums a few timesIs this a working station, or someones backyard?Looks like damn funSideways with a mono wiperStreet SweeperSittin on what I think are Kodiak wheelsOn LM'sTuckin huge front and rearClean rolling shot or a clean car which I think is a little newer than the restDamn this is unique, and from the looks of it out in JapanRollin wagonI had to double take on this one, almost mistook it for an e30All function, but still has formNot at all like the others but I had to throw it in
I’m open to more requests so feel free to suggest some!
Clean Civic’s always seem to resonate with me because I’m so used to seeing them either riced out, rusted out, or a tragic combination of the two.
This particular Civic has been a resident of my hard drive for some time now and I’ve skipped over posting it time and time again, but not today.
Looking at this car again overall I admire it’s simplicity and that is the reason I saved it to my ‘automotive’ folder in the first place.
The thing which may have held me back from posting it previously is the slightly propped hood. It always kind of distracted me when I was looking at photos of the front end of the car.
But I am over that now…. mostly.
Low as you want it.Mudflap clearance is slowly being worked on.Diamond racing must have loved the increase in business the past few yearsFender gap obliterated, the roof spoiler is a nice touch as well
I’m off to hit the slopes on my new snowboard. Catch you guys tomorrow for Theme Tuesday!
