The 12 Auto Blogs of Christmas 2010

Last year I put together a list of twelve automotive blogs I read because I felt the authors of those blogs did excellent work and deserved some recognition for it. This year the reasons for the list are exactly the same and only the blogs have changed. There are tons of excellent automotive blogs (I am subscribed to 83 and counting) but here is a list of a few I recommend taking the time to check out after you have checked out the latest here.

WTF Friday: Muscle Cross

When I was doing a little bit of research on the Code Red Firebird I happened to stumble across videos of muscle/classic cars shredding autocross courses at both Good Guys and the Hot Rod Power Tour events, I became a fan nearly instantly. People often say that old American cars don't handle well and are meant for cruising or drag racing. While often this can be true, it seems that there are a number of American car owners who are willing to push their creations around the autocross course with reckless abandon.

The M1

I know I am not the only person who likes BMW M1s (I'm talking the original ones not the new concept) because I know for a fact a lot of you like the Countach and thanks to Lamborghini's hand in the design these cars share very similar profiles. In street trim these cars look a little castrated and out of place but that's only because where they were really meant to be was out on the track getting pushed to their limit.

Code Red

The first time I posted this Firebird from my SEMA car crazy showcase coverage car I made a mistake in identifying it and called it at Camaro. In my defense I am pretty sure they called it the 'Code Red Camaro' in this article on Optima. Either way they share the same chassis so I was close..ish. Yesterday I saw more photos of the car on Go With Solo and figured what better way to make up for my previous mistakes than post some more of it.

Winter Wednesdays: ’tis the season

I met Patrick through Gillbert of the Scraped Crusaders. Pat is the type that does whatever he wants to his car regardless of whether or not other people are going to like it. If he likes it, it's done. I've seen this car a few times and the only constants are that it's always low and always has lots of stickers, other than that it's never the same twice.

Theme Tuesdays: Land Yachts

A couple of weeks ago in a WTF Friday I mentioned that I was working on a 'Land Yacht' Theme Tuesday and that while doing so I realized my knowledge of older, larger, non muscle American metal was fairly limited. Well I've finished the Theme Tuesday, but unfortunately my knowledge of this genre of older American cars didn't really get all that much better. No big deal though as I know that these cars look good regardless of whether or not I know the names....

Logan’s On Track

Logan has been putting in a ton of work this alongside Shawn from Drift Union. They killed it at a number of events both in Canada and in the states to the point where people are taking note of the guys in purple cars. Like Pat, I'm a big supporter of Logan because he is Canadian, drifts, and has BMX roots. So while I plugged this on facebook already I am going to do it again. Vote for Logan as 'Best Street Drift Car 2010' over on Speedhunters because his cars got stance, it's unique, and he slides it all the damn time.

Jimmini Jillickers

Evidently one of the most sought after compact 4x4s in North America, The Suzuki Samurai, is known as the Jimny in Japan. I honestly had no idea when it came here it got re branded but I guess it sort of makes sense as most things do. The last Samuari/Jimny I saw was all decked out for mudding and is a stark contrast from the one I am posting today.

When wagons attack

This might be the coolest Civic Wagovan I have seen since Bisimotos 700hp D16 beast or the one in the famous Wagon Attack 2 video. If these things didn't rust to hell so easy there would probably be quite a few cool ones around. Oh well I guess the best thing to do would be appreciate what we've got left. Big fan of this one.
