September Sticker Giveaway

I've got too much vinyl. I realized this a few weeks ago when I emptied the box I keep all of my stickers in on the floor. Over the course of the season I just kept throwing them all in a box until boom, overload. Since the door of my toolbox is pretty full (thanks for everyone who sent stickers in) I've decided to give away almost all of what I currently have sitting around. This giveaway will work a bit different than the last few so make sure you read this entire post if you want some of the stickers pictured below.

Featured Ride: Randy’s Prelude

Remember your high school car? I am sure you do because for many of us this wasn't just our first car it was our key to independence and no matter how hard we try it's impossible to ever re create that connection again. While for some reason or another many of us have parted with our high school cars Randy is one of few who was able to hold onto their high school car long enough to turn it into something more than just an alternative to taking the bus.

WTF Friday: Hello, Mcfly?

I've known about this Delorean for a couple of years (I'm a big Back To The Future Fan) but for whatever reason I have never posted here about it. However with BTTF being on back to back to back Monday and Stanceworks recently posting a familiar picture of the car on their facebook page my interest has be rekindled. Based on these photos it would appear that at one point in time this bagged(?) would be time machine was spotted somewhere in Ontario.

Liberty For All

There is a lot you can tell about a car club by reading about them online. The size of the club, the cars that make up the club, and how many awards they have won all things translate easily through text. Things that don't translate quite as easily are the presence the vehicles they drive have, the reactions they cause, and the personalities of the individual members. These are things that to really get an understanding of you have to experience in person.

Event Coverage: Street Classics Pre ’55 2011

On August 14th Street Classics hosted their annual 'pre-1955' classic car show and shine. Much like Vagkraft (which the same day) I had not attended this annual event since 2009, so I decided I might as well check out this show immediately after snapping some pictures at Vagkraft. Going directly from the biggest local VW meet of the year to a classic car event may seem weird to some but "I appreciate a fine body no matter the make".

Ocean Blitz

Jesse from Air Society and I have been shooting emails back and forth about the lay (low?) of the land here in Ontario and Montreal and while most of those emails are just us talking nonsense he did happen to give me a little information on an event they are putting together called Ocean Blitz. Simply put Ocean Blitz is a huge rally to H20i put on by Air Society in conjunction with: Canibeat, Klutch, and Redbull.

Theme Tuesdays: Pictures With Attitude 6

Last night after sitting down at the computer post a relaxing long weekend I realized that I was at the now familiar point where I have a few Theme Tuesday ideas started (around 6-8 photos) but not too many at, or near enough to, the point of completion. Thankfully I've had this one waiting in my draft status for a bit and six plus months since the last 'Pictures With Attitude' (aka awesome photos) it was time for this draft to grow up and become a real post. Enjoy the latest edition of awesome from all over the web.

sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!! (Sept 11th 2011)

This morning at about 7am I walked to the corner store and could ever so slightly see my breath, which means only one thing around here: our days are numbered and soon old man winter will begin to grab the GTA with his cold bony hands to squeeze the life out of the 2011 season. However with events going on basically every weekend of September 2011 isn't going out without a fight.

Featured Ride: Josh’s MKV Jetta

It's funny, non enthusiasts would view a car theft as a reason to drive a stock car forever more but those of us who are truly passionate about modifying automobiles refuse to let the actions of one low life ever take away the hobby we love. Josh, who is a web developer and graphic designer by trade, is now an avid VW enthusiast thanks to a local car thief who took it upon himself to steal his Civic SI from a local movie theater parking lot.

Berlina

For whatever reason I've always found cars not available here in Canada intriguing regardless of what their actual build quality or reputation is. One such example of this are Opels, this isn't the first time I've posted an Opel of this vintage, and probably won't be the last. Somewhat bland at stock height Commodores start to look a whole lot better lower to the ground and fitted with a tasteful set of wheels.

Theme Tuesdays: Chevy Belairs

As a child I built a heck of a lot of model cars (a hobby I have recently picked up once more) and one kit that I have fond memories assembling was Monogram's 1956 Bel Air. The Belair is a true American classic with an appeal that transcends many different scenes so I am a little surprised it took me so long to realize that there was a dire need for some appreciation here on the site.

Event Coverage: Squeaky Clean ‘Coffee’

In 2011 Matt ended his previous show series, Tuners Against Street Racing, to start his new endevaour Squeaky Clean. The first Squeaky Clean event had a bit of a luke warm reception (not helped in the least the weather) so for 2012 Matt started with an event focused on the cars and the people instead of awards.

WTF Friday: Twin Motor Yugo

Most of my usual sources didn't provide much in the way of crazy cars this week so I took a look over on bangshift.com...

Working with what you’ve got

Sometimes in life you just have to work with what you've got and other times you have to improvise and this is true of the car hobby. Not all of us have a say in what we currently drive and some of us willingly choose to drive something a little left of the norm. Regardless resourceful automotive folk are, well, resourceful automotive folk and while some are quick to pass over whatever is currently sitting in their driveway, shop, or yard others are willing to work with what they have got. Today's cars are examples of just that.
