Mazda

Visual Echos

The FD RX-7 has to be one of Mazda's greatest triumphs, released over 20 years ago the design is still rather timeless. The only feature really tying it back to the era it was built would be being the flip up headlights and honestly I love flip up headlights. I found this one on flickr and was instantly taken aback by how great it looked.

Event Coverage: The 2013 Canadian International Autoshow: Pt. 2

Back with the second (and final) batch of photos from the 2013 Canadian International Autoshow media day. In my two years of experience attending the show for media day I have found striking an even balance between getting uncluttered photos and attending big reveals a little difficult. Last year I missed pretty well everything but this year I fared a bit better managing to catch three or four. Sadly I was distracted during Chevrolet's uncloaking of the Sting Ray which I'm still kicking myself over.

Guest Coverage: 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon

By now I'm sure many of you have already been inundated with Tokyo Auto Salon coverage from various other online media sources as it seems like everyone was at TAS this year checking out the latest and greatest Japan has to offer. Everyone except myself of course, but thanks to the great people over at Nextmod I've got some excellent TAS coverage to share here.

Theme Tuesday: Riveted Overfenders

Posting the AW11 MR2 yesterday, along with a car I saw Sunday night, made me realize that there has never been a Theme Tuesday devoted to riveted on overfenders. A smooth wide body will always have it's place, but there is something to be said for the lasting industrial appeal of over fenders. Done right they can often be the modification that really sets a car apart while enabling the use of generously proportioned wheels and tires.

Photo Year In Review 2012 – The Features

Feature wise 2012 was a great year here at Stance Is Everything. In addition to receiving great photos from an awesome network of contributing photographers locally and abroad I started shooting more features myself which is a big step forward in keeping the content here fresh and original. Unlike the event photo year in review I will say a few words about each feature, but I will do  my best to keep things brief.

Aussie Rules

It's my understanding that being a car enthusiast in Australia isn't exactly easy. The rules down under about what can and can't be done to a car are incredibly strict and the cars I so love to post her on SIE constantly run the risk of being defected (pulled off the road) at any moment.

WTF Friday: Cosmo Kramer The Assman

Hanging around Mazda people you come to learn a few things about rust, check engine lights, recalls, and slightly obscure cars with spinning Dorito power plants. The Eunos Cosmo is latter of that list (though it's probably not exempt from the same problems at the beginning of that list), and is a pretty interesting piece of work all around.

Theme Tuesdays: OG Minitrucks

About a month ago the idea to do a follow up to the fairly well received 'Old School Minitruck' Theme Tuesday began to creep into my head but it wasn't until I came across The Coalition of OG Minitruckin on facebook that it really came together. After almost immediately losing an hour of my day upon discovery, I sent the page admin an email and we agreed that it's been far too long since some OG (traditionally styled) minitrucks have been posted on Stance Is Everything.

Clint Jolly Green

Sometime in May I tweeted a photo of my Canon on a tripod in front of my car and @ClintJollyGreen was one of the first to ask when those photos would be posted. My car isn't exactly top priority around here so my reply was simply "soon".

WTF Friday: Hardrock

What do you get when you cross a Mk1 Volkswagen Caddy, a 91 Toyota Soarer, some metal for a roll cage, two wheel tubs, BC Coils, a hydraulic handbrake, green paint, and some Rota Grids? Evidently a cool little truck that can slide with the best of them.

Theme Tuesdays: FC RX-7s

Got news the other day on instagram that Steve (who owns the SR-20 Powered e30 currently in PBMW) recently picked up an FC RX-7. When asked what his plans for the car were he replied "thinking wide as fuck wheels, obnoxious body kit, white or bass boat paint..."

Event Coverage: Rockstar Motorsports Charity Show And Shine

I've heard good things about Rockstar Motorsports through Brett, Kiwee, and Neil but up until Saturday I had never actually been to the shop myself so after helping (standing around) Lyndsey with a photo shoot we rolled the new support vehicle over to the Rockstar facility in Oakville to see what was up. The turnout was better than I expected which was great to see because it was a charity event aimed at helping a family that recently lost someone to cancer.
