Didn’t have a whole lot of time to work on the Spring Fling coverage last night so until I get a chance to put that up this evening (or tomorrow) I’m going to post this e31 on Work Emitz wheels I spotted on the Stance Works forums a few weeks ago.
I must say I never thought these wheels and this car would work together so well. These wheels vaugly resemble Daytons from the side
But at a slightly different angle they are a different beast entirelyLegitimately a poster quality photoAss so fat you could see it from the frontVictory.
Being unique without having to resort to extremes or cliches is always appreciated, props to the owner who also happens to be a damn good photographer.
Back with the second and final part of the CSCS season Opener coverage with today focusing on the show & shine and Stretch & Poke Fitted showcase.
The CSCS show & shine is always an interesting mix of cars and I have tried to capture a lot of them here, I missed out on a couple between heading back and forth to the track and talking to people but there is a good mix of what was there in this coverage.
Chances are a lot of the cars present Sunday will be at later events so I’m more than certain I will get everything before the season is out.
Random stuff
Trying to pick this back up again because there is no shortage of weird, wild, stuff at car shows in the GTA.
InflatawifeThe owner of this car signed up to jdmrides a long time ago and I always kind of thought it wasn't a real person just someone trolling, guess I was wrongHello Muffler
Kimi Qin
Kimi Qin is reportedly the driver I dubbed ‘Racer-X’ in yesterdays coverage and in addition to the Mine’s GTR he brought out two Ferraris and 3 women in tight dresses.
They say money can’t buy happiness and while it’s true I never saw Mr. Qin smile he didn’t look mad either.
One of his two Ferrari'sA look at the Ferrari's bindersThe Mine's GTR stopped, yes those women stood there all dayThe cars, plus the women drew quite a crowdThe things money can buy
Nokturnal
US based car club/show team Nokturnal made it out for the CSCS opener and brought along some of their more unique projects, new york guys seem to really love marble paint.
Ever wonder what a Rolls Royce front end on Monte Carlo would look like?No me either... but someone did so they build thisBagged Can Am Spyder on custom wheels that was at CES this yearIpad in the tank, and speakers everywhere this was a very clean (though unorthodox) buildAndrew rolls with Nokturnal nowAnother year, another paint job for this Gen
Domestics
If I hung around the strip a bit more I probably would have seen a few more domestics.
Sleeper FestivaThis car would walk me though no doubt about itThis car passed me later on the highway and honestly looks really odd rolling the way it is setupThis S10 from Street Outlawz is a CSCS regular vehicle, the paint on this truck is pretty awesome, changes under the light but nothing to the point where it looks tackyThe bed setup is also pretty wild, never noticed it before, or the Bride seatsAnother shot of Sean's Escape 3.0 powered Contour that people seemed to love to hate from the fan page
Fiat, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Volvo, VW, Porsche
Government mandated bumpers, disrupting the flow of cars since the second they were requiredThe Fiat many of you liked from Hot Wheelz has changed, a LOTThe guy in the background is making sure what he is seeing is real lifeFrom what I have read Volvos are a right pain to get lowNot a car I really expected to see at CSCS but every once and awhile people surprise mePair of Golfs bridging the generation gapPolished CCWs, practically the new LMDidn't get to see this Porsche out on the track but I wish I did, nice to see people out in different cars
Imports
Widescreen, standard defI have not seen Gabe, or his Mazda 3, in over a year, lots of Shinzo work on this carThe comic book lip is pretty unique, though I would have gone with a G1 comics myselfJon's Mazda 3 on his new bright green XXR wheelsTom of Nine 0 Five rides recently switched up quite a bit on his Celica including new wheels and a lower ride heightHe also shaved the bay and had it airbrushedShout out to the owner of this car for the supportThanksKiller looking FD closer to the trackNice bay too
Stretch & Poke Fitted Showcase
Stretch & Poke teamed up with CSCS to have their first trophy show for 2012 at the CSCS season opener, while the turnout wasn’t as big as their meet the weekend before it was pretty good again considering the weather mans predictions of doom for the day and the fact that Spring Fling (coverage soon) took out most of the VWs.
I even managed to score some tire shine in the raffle.

That’s it for this round of CSCS coverage, the next round is June 24th at Grand Bend which is the same day as the Nine-O-Five Rides Truck & Tuner expo.
I’m looking to get coverage of both and I can only be in one place at a time so if you are in either Grand Bend or Niagara and feel like contributing footage from one of those two shows please shoot me an email (stanceiseverything at(@) gmail.com.
If you listened to the weatherman all week long than you are probably one of several people who skipped out on CSCS opener this weekend in fear of rain which is a shame because outside of a few quick showers most of the event was actually dry.
The drag strip was busy most of the day (which I was surprised to see) and the road course saw heavy use by both the time attack drivers and the drifters.
Today’s coverage will begin on said course, for this round of CSCS I was able to get a media pass and get right out on track which is something I have never been able to do before.
Drifting
Something that had not occurred to me about shooting on course was the interaction between photographers on each corner, I basically tried to keep to myself and out of peoples shots, but getting prime territory was a hard fought battle and if you were in someones shot they let you know.
One of the photographers ended up putting his Go Pro where he couldn’t be in hopes it would get great footage but instead it got smashed into hundreds of tiny pieces.
As I said on facebook late Sunday night, this was my favorite vehicle of the eventThe fact that the driver could hold is own only made it betterI really hope to see him at later events and get some closer shots of this truckChris ran into some trouble (well a hay bale) later in the day which was a bit of a bummer, not sure the final fate of his e30 nowOne of the early top 8 competitorsI don't recall seeing much of Marin last year but he's back at it this year and doesn't seem to have lost a stepDylan was driving pretty well all day but this was too funny to not includeDrifters anonymous car I think...Ryan Stock always makes it pretty far at CSCS eventsRyan Stock and Anthony keeping it close in their tandem battleAntony's consistency all day made him really easy to take photos ofHis initiation points were always pretty much the sameAs was his speed and angle, he ended up taking home the 1st place spotJust another reason why this truck was awesomeDylan on the left ended up going until his tire blew sending chunks of rubber my wayOne of my favorite photos of the day
Time Attack
The biggest buzz around the track at this round of CSCS was whether or not the unknown, rumored Chinese Grand Prix competition driver, would be able to take the track record (1:13.9) from Sasha Anis.
With no practice ‘Racer-X’ manged to get the fastest lap of the day (1:16.9) but wasn’t able to topple Sasha, I am sure he wasn’t two sad though as he brought two Ferrari Scuderia’s along with him and his own entourage of women.
Looking forward to seeing the battle for top spot continue at later CSCS events.

Show & Shine coverage should be up tomorrow, with Fitted coverage the following day.
Awhile ago the Topless Theme Tuesday came and went with not a single Miata in sight. Rightfully I was immediately called out for ignoring Mazdas good looking, and capable, little roadster.
Miata fans worldwide don’t fret, this snubbing wasn’t intentional and just a huge oversight on my part I plan to make up for today.
Before I jump right into ‘hard parked’ examples here are some that are setup with more of the boxes ticked in the function side than form.
Nice balance between function and form on both of theseDrift car from Japan, couldn't find higher res sadlyAwesome little MiataPosing with a Honda powered friendThis is a Speed Hunters (if you couldn't tell) feature car from 2010Gets driven as you can seeFound this in a thread talking about fairly large sized spacers oddly enoughKnown as the SA baby monster I think it puts down just shy of 300hp
The complete opposite of the above just because.
Perhaps a little too much...
And now onto the ones that just plain look good

The next time Miatas make an apperance in the Theme Tuesday category it will be all local (or at the very least all Canadian) cars, then after that perhaps only swapped ones…
On the passenger side are the silver polished 19×9 -10/19×10 -6 Leon Hardirtt Waffle wheels you probably remember from his feature and on the drivers side are the similarly sized, previously gold, BBS LMs he had on at Megaspeed.
I say similar because I know he has plans to flip the faces and re barrel them so I am not 100% sure where they sit at right now.
Either way the new clear coated white primer look suits his car much better than the gold did but, this isn’t the final look either.
What is? Who knows other than Yudi himself.
Yudi has also started a new company called the Wheel Estate which is provides 24/7 tire sale pick up and delivery in the GTA.
If you are looking for a particular wheel chances are Yudi could also help you out there as well and should you have any doubt he can guide you down the right path in regards to fitment scroll back up.
Patina, as a car styling element, is an interesting thing.
Many feel that cars need to earn their patina through years of dedicated service, or in some cases neglect, like this 51 COE, and the Taylor’d 57, while others think it patina is something that can applied or encouraged, using home brewed concoctions and techniques similar to what was done to Rusty.
But what happens when you want to add some patina to a vehicle that looks old, but really isn’t, and is made of a material that doesn’t rust?
Well then you do what Todd Varble and Quebec based Oze Rod Shop INC did; drill it, paint it, and graft metal onto it until it looks like it was a car saved from someones driveway where a ‘for sale’ sign was slowly disintegrating behind the windshield.
This was the starting point, a fiberglass Ford based body on a 37 Ford ChassisAnd this was the initial sketch
This car isn’t all paint and mimicry though the suspension and chassis are genuine Ford and a hot rod worthy Chevy LS1 gets this reliable, yet dilapidated, looking rod moving.
Drilled holes, acrylic paint, and probably dirt... much like how you would weather a model carMetal grafts and vintage letter workLS1 somewhat disguised by fake valve covers and plug wiresTricky, tricky
The finished product is pretty awesome and a true testament to the fact that there are no rules to hot rodding just differences in opinion.
Certainly looks the part of a vintage rodShots really suit it too
Of course the finished product isn’t without its controversy, the motor choice coupled with the exterior treatment caused people to send death threats to the Hot Rod Magazine office after it made the cover in 2006.
Got an interesting photo shoot lined up tomorrow morning (check the facebook page in the morning for updates) and on Sunday I will be at the CSCS season opener.
I will have t shirts and stickers on me so look out for me, my car should be in the ‘Fitted’ showcase.
Wrapping up the coverage from the first Fitted event today with some more Euros, Subarus, IS300s, VIP cars, Domestics, and Nissans.
Hats off to the crew at Stretch & Poke for organizing and hosting such a great start to their season, of course they have no time to sit back and reflect on their accomplishments as they are back at it Sunday at CSCS.
Euro
A couple European cars managed to make their way over to today’s coverage.
MK5 on Aero 18s yay or nay?Ian doin it for idubNuff said.
Subarus
Unrelated to Stretch & Poke but the TSC Spring Fling is taking place this weekend in Burlington for all you Subaru heads.
It seems like I only see this wagon once a year, the front end has come down some since I saw it lastNo stretch, no poke, just a purpose built SubaruJP's car sans a few unnecessary cosmetic pieces
Mazdas
Chris sold his Subaru and picked up this Miata over the winter, these XXRs are temporary as far as I knowA boosted Miata that is the perfect balance between function and formGot a chance to talk to the owner of this RX-7 for awhile, visually it looks very similar to last year but underneath is a new suspension setup that actually gives him more travel
Infiniti
Jeff and Blain are now on another level, I should start calling them the untouchables, two of the best looking G’s in the city.
His 18 CCW has been replaced and the coils have made way for bagsJeff's also switched up his wheels over the winterThey suit the car perfect
Liberty
Toronto’s Liberty VIP members on point as usual.
Yudi showing his B side and Brett bringing his A gameRide low park lower, you will never catch Brett fully aired upAidan's car is parked in basically the same spot every time
IS300s
The amount of nice IS300s at this event was a little surprising honestly.
Chris sold his silver is300 just so he could roll with a nearly identical (but boosted) oneFairly sure this car will be out sliding on Sunday at CSCSWhere did this one come from!? Very impressed looks terrific
Domestics
Kiwi out in his FlexProbably one of the lowest Contour SVTs you will ever see, or Mondeo depending on where you are fromThere's currently a debate about painted lettering on Stance Works, I don't mind thisJeff said if he didn't get impounded or break an oil pan he would be at the meet. Then he broke his pan (in the US no less), fixed it, skipped sleeping, and came out anyway, dedication.
Hondas
These look cool sitting but I always find people look awkward riding them... might just be me thoughI love these 3-pc Enkei wheels, kind of hard to come by, but so much potential as seen herePair of 7 series CivicsVery low boosted EKDan on his newest set of WorksBrain hood less like alwaysThe opposite end of the s2000 I posted on Tuesday
Nissan
This car reminds me of one from the Violent Running Tribe forums in... 2009 maybe?A little paint and we have a winnerClean black paint on a straight body is a hard thing to beatTons of rumors circling around about what is going to happen with this car in regards to fitmentI'd hate to see unpainted flares covering up that paint but at the same time this looks awkwardThis on the other hand is basically perfectPictures do not really do this car justiceThe owner commented Tuesday saying that the car normally doesn't run this much camberI could see it looking even cleaner with camber that matches the front
The next Stretch & Pokee event is this Sunday, where these are up for grabs.
One of the most anticipated events of the first half of the summer season was the first ‘Fitted’ event and Downsview Park put on by Stretch & Poke.
Everyone expected it to be big but I don’t think I was the only one who rolled up and was shocked at the turnout.
I’ve been to a few events at Downsview before and the last one I can remember on anything close to a similar scale was probably Honda Tech in 2009, but that was so long ago my memory can’t be counted on.
The low/aggressive fitment crowd in Toronto has grown so much since the initial Stretch & Poke event at Dave & Busters that it is almost hard to comprehend, all those are wishing for this ‘fad’ to roll over and die are going to be waiting a few more years yet.
Coverage of this event will be broken into two parts with this is actually the lighter of the two.
VWs
As a title sponsor of the event all of the core idub.ca members came out in along with a number of other local VAG enthusiasts.
I think these two cars were from a' Insufficient Funds'I've already said all I am going to about the bike thing on facebook, but I am curious how long the wheels in the foreground tookThis car pops up in threads all over the place onlineJustin's winter wheels > a whole lot of peoples summersBeautiful trunk setup! Simple and tidyJosh's MKV as clean as everPhil showing off his new TE's
BMWS
There were quite a few nice BMWs at Downsview last Sunday with Stance Factory having some part in a a lot of them. Jay’s car and his new ‘Lexington Steelies’ were quite a hit but the e30 m3 on HRE’s below?
Ridiculous.

Benz Coupe
This car was apparently finished hours before ‘Fitted’ was set to begin, and somehow I had never heard about this build prior to fitted.
Looks like something a diplomat would drive...
Only one picture of this car because shortly after seeing it I got a chance to drive and FR-S thanks to Alex Pascua and Scarborough Scion which was an unexpected surprise.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been behind the wheel of a RWD car so I didn’t do anything to outrageous I can say that this car lives up to the hype behind the wheel.
Can't wait for people to start modding theseThe 'flippy paddles' took a little to get used tooHats off to Scion for bringing these out to events, marketing is doing it's job
SCGil's latest set of BBS wheels, I think these suit his car the best out of all the wheels I have seen, though the steels were pretty bad assDat wheel color!Gang.Steve's e30 from the build thread Theme Tuesday last weekPeople are finally starting to notice what is under the hoodExactly how an e30 should look
That’s all for today but if you are wondering what more there is for tomorrow, here’s a peak.
This Tuesday I’ve opted to bring back the ever popular ‘Dat Ass’ theme but fill it with only cars that were at Sundays ‘Fitted’ event put on by Stretch & Poke.
Gathering this Theme Tuesday took second priority to capturing as much of the event as possible so I might have missed a few significant rear ends but there is still a good amount of variety and the last picture is sure to draw some controversy.
M5 with a fully functional setupSuper, super clean R33@i_amshayanOne of the best 350z in the city... in my opinion of courseThis s2000 was parked pretty far from the rest of these cars but I am glad I found itBlain's car is now on air, suits it very wellThe famous Acura clipped hatchThis car looks strikingly similar to another car in the area from the rearSteve's e30 always has a crowd around itJetta squattin'Wish I took the bottle off the rear of thisPhil's gone crazy with his car this year.Risked getting run over by a smart car for this shot, so really no risk at allI love how you can see exactly how much tire is actually used based on dust haI know this is not finishedAnd I am honestly hoping the same for this
More ‘Fitted’ coverage to come… this is just the beginning.
I arrived in the Bloor-Yorkville area around 9:30pm and walked to the Park Hyatt hotel, where I believe the Gumballer’s were spending the night.
Three streets had been shut down across from the hotel to allow a U-shaped row for the Gumball cars to park and rev their engines for the crowd. Their cars were fenced off from the public, and rightfully so – the place was packed.
A few civilian cars managed to slip by and got turned back at the checkpoint. These cars included a Shelby Cobra, a Fisker Karma, and even a guy in a motorized wheelchair drinking a beer.
The cops didn’t seem to mind though and were actually pretty cool the entire night, one even cringed after the Nissan GT-R let the rear loose, she nonchalantly remarked with a bit of a chuckle that she thought he was going to crash.
The view of Yorkville Avenue from the parking garage roofThe view of Cumberland Street from the parking garage roof
Eventually the arrival area got too packed, so I went cut through the garage located between the two closed-off streets to find a new location. In the garage were a few intersting local cars like a Lamborghini Gallardo, LP-640 “Interceptor”, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, a stanced G35, and an Audi S8 with an R8 front end plus tons of Carbon Fiber.
Lots of other random nice local cars were in the area from other local patrons including imports, domestics, exotics, and even lowriders. There were also a lot of motorcycles that came out to the event and their exhaust notes echoing off buildings made judging the Gumballer arrivals a bit harder.
The lost CobraThis LP640 can be spotted all over the Toronto areaI'm sure very few mistake this for a cop carG on XXRs59 and 64 ImpalasOlder 280zxR8 Front and S8 Rear?
After shooting all the cars on the street, I took some shots from the roof and as I was heading down a garage employee ended up giving me a lift in his golf cart which put me at ground level just in time for the loudest arrival of the night by none other than, The Dudesons.
They arrived redlining their bright yellow “Dudeson’s Lifeguard” Nissan and hanging out the window clad in bright yellow monkey suits and swim gear.

Around 1:30 after all of the Gumballers arrived I packed up to head hone.
Overall, the night was fun and an awesome display of high-performance exotics, but it left me wishing I had $40,000 and a team of traffic lawyers to allow me to compete in the rally next year. One day.
