Red A3 Remixed

5

Most of you have probably seen this car already as it’s been around for awhile and I posted it’s previous look back in 2009.

A couple months ago when the BBS CH wheels were switched out for BBS LMs I was ready to do another post on the car but got caught sleeping and a few other blogs ran the photos so I didn’t then I kind of forgot about the car briefly.

However the owner recently posted some photos that jolted my memory.

After seeing these newer photos and looking at the previous ones I decided to resurrect the post because no matter re-posted these photos get this car is still fresh to death any way you look at it.

In fact this car sits at the top of my top 3 Audi A3 lists, with the Euro Projektz one close behind followed by Pedro of Division R’s A3.

LMs FTMFW
Bronze centers were an excellent, excellent choice works with the red well
Clean, clean, and clean.
Accuair suspension doin it's thing getting this car to the ground
I love the way this car sits when laid out, everything lines up perfect
Tons of props to the owner!

More info can be found on the owners thread on Stance Works and he Accuair.

Further respect goes to Josh for building this car while working two jobs and going to College.

WTF Friday: It attacks in the night

7

People who build sleepers have to be some of the most creative and dedicated car people period. The dedication it takes to do something ridiculous to your car but keep it as stock looking as possible so as not to give away your secret is nothing short of incredible.

Sleeper builds are always creative, interesting, and motivating. Motivating because after seeing the fabrication skills someone went through to get their idea to work it makes doing simple bolt-ons seem like nothing worth complaining about.

Really what is a stubborn rusted bolt in comparison to the amount of unforeseen problems that would come up when say putting a VG30DETT under the hood of a Mazda MPV.

If you are not familiar with Nissan motor codes the VG30DETT Motor is the twin turbo mill normally found in the 1989 Fair Lady Z (300zx in NA), and if the MPV is nothing you ever paid attention to it is essentially just another random rear wheel drive Japanese van similar to the Toyota Previa.

Normally combining a MPV and a 300zx would involved bent metal and a very livid individual but in this case it equals a minivan that packs 388hp under it’s hood.

This is crazy.

Fairly stock looking interior, minus the mustang wheels
The fact that this has a tow hook just makes everything all that much more awesome

I wonder if it slides?

Site Updates

The biggest site update this week is the introduction of wearables to the store. The first run shirts are the black and teal color way and available in small, medium, large, and extra large.

Canada and US Shipping is $10 per unit while international is $20

The shirts went up last night and are selling fast so if you want one click the image above or head over to the store. Local pickup is also available at meets and shows for those who are close and don’t want the shipping charges.

The next color way on the list is grey/teal.

This weekend I will be at the Honda Toronto Indy for the day on Saturday and the Street Classics cruise in the evening.

Couple other things coming for next week too but I won’t tease.

Flashback Friday

I was lurking the Wrong Fitment Crew forums a couple weeks back and read that Julian got rid of his wagon. Not sure what he has moved onto now but if it’s anywhere as clean as this….

One of the cleanest wagons ever.

We are in for a treat.

Readers Rides: Facebook Fans Part 5

12

I’ve been meaning to dedicate another post to Reader sRides for awhile now but with the amount of event coverage I have been doing combined with features and guest coverage it’s been hard to find a day to dedicate to it.

However with the Facebook fan page clicking over to 4000 people yesterday (thanks everyone who has liked the page) I think today is the perfect day to show some of your cars some love, it was long overdue.

Sonny’s Mitsubishi Galant

Sonny is a reader all the way from the Philippines who rides this 1992 Galant GTI. He’s got a little bit of work into it and about two months or so ago I sent him and some supports out in Manila some stickers for a show out there and he returned the favor by doing up this Stance Is Everything Ford Focus I posted not too long ago.

Scott’s Camaro

Scott first added photos of his Camaro to the fan page after I posted this white on white Mazda 3. The white out look applied to this Camaro flows really well.

Robert’s Suburban

Rob’s Suburban is awesome, he picked it up in 2002 lifted, bagged it on 05 and is going to body drop it really soon, and as you can tell by the photo below he drags the heck out of it.

Robs e36

I’ve posted Rob’s BMWs a few times but  here is his latest version of his e36 which features poked bright white OEM style 32 wheels.

Benny’s Civic

Benny sold his previous black civic and picked this one up to do in his very unique and easily recognizable style. He has dubbed this one the ‘Woodrat’ and it is a great example of what’s possible when you think outside of the box.

Raymonds EF

In the land where our EF’s crumble to dust I can always appreciate someone who has kept one alive and clean.

Michael’s Caddy

Michael may be one of the people who uploads to the Facebook page the most, his Caddy is always looking clean.

Matthew’s Touring

Matthew’s e30 touring looks better and better the more I see of it.

Marco’s Corsa – c

Marco has done a lot of work to this Vauxhaul of his and of the photos he posted on the fan page I like this rolling shot the most.

Geby’s 335i

Remember Geby’s RX-7 from awhile back? Well this is his daily driver, a 335i lowered on KW V2 coil overs and sitting on blacked out BBS CH wheels.

Declan’s Golf

Much like Rob Declan likes the very white wheels. However he opted for banded steels over OEM alloys.

Bill’s Skyline

Bill owns a custom car shop (Brinkworth Custom Auto Salon) and this 89 skyline that has a custom body kit, widened fenders and custom paint.

Anthony’s Golf GTI

Anthony posted up his white Golf sittin on 17s and koni’s.

Andrew’s Mini

Andrew’s clean mini on bright red wheels.

Thai’s TC

I have posted Thai’s Scion before but I’ve been looking at it a little more closely lately (it and TC’s in general) after having drove on at the SGR event. He is also on the bright wheel tip.

Devin’s Subaru

A friend of mine recently sold a nearly identical Subaru for pretty cheap, if I had seen this picture of Devin’s prior to that I might have picked it up.

Todd’s 51 Caddy

Todd’s 51 Cadddy looks mean as hell and reminds me of the Futurama episode called ‘The Honking‘.

James’ 68 Mercury Monterey

According to James attitude is everything and this beautiful Mercury snacks on Datsuns between meals

I know I missed some of you so if you would like to be included in the next edition of readers rides feel free to send me an email or upload your photo to the fan page and I will do my best to post it up.

Event Coverage: Too Fast Custom Car Show

10

Last weekend I went my second show at the Powerade Center in Brampton (the first being Vagkraft in 2009) which was the Too Fast Custom Car Show put on by SLC Productions and Too Fast motors.

This was my first ‘Heat The Street‘ show of the year (their 7th in total) so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect in regards to turnout number and quality of cars. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised on both counts, many of the usual suspects came out to enjoy the sun along with a few people and cars I had not seen in awhile.

Heck even I parked my car within the show boundaries.

Random

Took a bit more time at this show to take some pictures of some of the other things that I saw at the show outside of cars and women. I was able to capture most of the random stuff that was happening at the show outside of the guys on pocket bikes who I kept missing.

As impractical and illegal as those things are I still want one. Even though I would probably get bored of it really quick.

One of the loudest vehicles I have ever heard, period.
Best team name goes to...
Always been a bit more of a Batman fan myself, but nice art work none the less
Dogs doing dog stuff
Sono tube used for its original intent
The winner of the Heat The Street Tour will be seen flying off the top rope wearing this

Bikes

Bikes seem to be popping up at meets more and more this year, or maybe I am just noticing them more and they were always there. If the latter is the case it is not a good sign for either my wallet or well being.

A friend of mine owned this bike, Gucci fabric on the seat like a boss
Monster livery Ninja

Euro

Not much of a Euro turnout but I am guessing everyone many were getting their rides ready for Waterfest and Vagkraft.

I didn't see this Audi until the end of the show different touch with the wheels and piping
On the flip side this Jetta was one of the first cars I saw

Ford

These two Mustangs stood out to me for fairly obvious reasons. The first one because the owner thought outside of the box in regards to wheel selection and the second because it was all around ridiculous.

I am hoping to head out to a Street Classics Cruise in this Saturday so maybe I will see it again there?

Mustang on Volks, they flow surprisingly well
Insane Mach 1, watching the owner try and baby it out of the show was fun
Power staring me right in the face

Dodge/Chrylser

In my eyes the 300cs stole the show in regards to Dodge and Chrylser, the two below in particular are very well done.

Carlos brought out one of his two show cars, his Integra will apparently be at the next
I have not seen this car since Voicecoil meltdown, looks just a nice as the first time i saw it
Overall a very clean car
This 300c was also nice and low and was packing a punch under hood
And here is that punch

GM

Most of the GM field was made up of trucks that were also at the Niagara Truck and Tuner Expo, though a couple I hadn’t seen since last years Scrape if at all.

Green Bastard Buick
Reminds me of the new version of Bumble Bee... he probably gets that a lot now
Team Asshole bagged Cobalt, later seen dragging down the street
Killer paint treatment on this s10, creative, unique, and well executed
You all, already know how much I like my slammed early gen s10s
I really like how the two tone carries through inside of the truck
If this is original paint the owner of this truck knows a thing or to about paint care
Perfect.
I need to get a ride in one of these some time before I die

Imports

I was reading a post on Canibeat the other day regarding USDM styling picking up in Japan which blows my mind because they copy us, we copy them, infinite loop? Just a random side thought that doesn’t really have anything to do with the cars below.

Andrew brought home another win with his Genesis
The paint on this RX-8 does a hell of a lot of cool things under the sun
I parked beside Aidan to use some of the crowd his car draws to my advantage
We also tossed a bunch of the site promo cards between his wheel and tire
He took him best VIP/JDM at the show
Chris was out with Division R
Sam's been hitting up all the shows and accumulating best stance wins
Thanks for the love Sam
A GTR Bruce Wayne himself would approve of
Hard to tell from the picture but that's a CF inlay on the spokes
KJohn's Accord wagon is easily one of the lowest and most unique in the area
Beautiful
Very aggressively styled Acura
Looks like it would be right at home on a road course
Danio showed up late, but brought the heat with his latest wheel set up which looks incredible
Fitted
How he continues to raise the bar in regards to s2000s in Toronto is insane

Bikini Contest

As promised coverage of the women from the events has returned to Stance Is Everything, at least for now. I’ve actually got to give credit to my girlfriend for taking these photos as I was taking the ones for the fan page with my phone.

The guys in the background of all of these pictures seem to be enjoying themselves
This girl didn't win but she was a contender
No comment nessecary.
Again mums the word.
The eye daggers the other competitors shot this girl were ridiculous
These were the top 3 finalists with the girl in the middle taking it

The next event on the SLC Heat The Street Tour

Theme Tuesdays: Old School Minitrucks

15

After googling Truxarossa for last weeks WTF Friday I came across an old school mini truck thread on streetsource.com and was hooked instantly.

I was no where near driving age when a lot of these trucks were out killing the streets and gracing covers but I do have hazy memories of similar style trucks still being around the time when I began to start noticing automobiles a lot more.

While perhaps ‘ugly’ by today’s standards these trucks represent what was cool then and as much as we may want to deny it a lot of the things we currently like now are probably going to look just as dated in a couple years.

I have no doubt in my mind that for some of you this post will be an awesome trip down memory lane and honestly it was one of the more fun ones I have done lately because reading through the street source thread was quite frankly awesome.

Nothing like a bunch of long time mini truck fans feeding of each others memories and trying to one up each other (in a fun way) on who could post the older photo.

This cover is as best a place as any to get things started
People who have the guts to cut their roof of get my respect
Classic truck poke... some people call it mexi
This mural is a bit of a time capsule in itself
Not sure what sparked the tandem thing but looks like it was popular for awhile
If this tracker could still reach highway speeds I am impressed
I guess this is one thing to do with your tandem when it stops running
That tracker is actually one of the lowest ones I have ever seen
Chopped top and Izuzu front end looks like? Maybe it was actually an Izuzu
This truck really isn't too far off some of the trucks I have seen in recent years
I would drive this today.
I wonder do bed dancers still exist in some parts of the world?
If you know of one of these in the Toronto area let me know, I want to see it.
Many cover cars and trucks just vanish after a few years
But this was spotted still running in 2007
This truck was a little later down the road and I remember it from a mag I have
What I don't remember is it getting put on a 4x4 chassis

Salute to the OGS, the original thread is here.

Featured Ride: Kevin’s Varis STI

10

Being a car enthusiast and working at a tuning shop is akin to being a kid at a candy store, all of the resources you could possibly want to put together an incredible car is right at your fingertips waiting for you every day.

Kevin, an employee at Nextmod, put all of these resources to work when he decided it was time to take his 2010 STI from mild to absolutely wild.

Kevin wanted version 2 of his Subaru to be a drastic departure from it’s previous incarnation and stand out among the increasing number of high caliber Subaru builds roaming the Toronto streets.

To do that he went with the very aggressive, and very extensive, Varis body kit consisting of a front bumper, carbon fiber lip, carbon fiber hood, dual canards, side skirts, carbon fiber side skirt extensions, diffuser, and carbon fiber diffuser extension.

Very few of these body parts where ever destined for North America so wait times for these parts wasn’t your typical couple of weeks, instead Kevin was forced to wait about six months for all of the pieces that make up the kit to arrive.

Idle hands proved to be the devil’s workshop because while he was waiting for his shipment  from Varis to arrive he wrapped his STI spoiler in carbon fiber and then picked a hatch back spoiler from the Voltex catalog to finish off the rear end.

Once tracking numbers confirmed the mix of fiberglass reinforced plastic and carbon fiber body parts were nearly at his door Kevin focused his attention to the cars connection with the road opting to further upgrade his suspension with HKS Hipermax 3 sport coil overs, Cusco rear control arms, and a progress rear sway bar.

The rolling stock on the car was also swapped from the previous Takata green Volks to more aggressive and downright stunning flat black 18×9 +25 Advan RG-Ds inside of 245/40 Dunlop tires.

With the intimidating exterior now starting to take shape Kevin put a little bit more work under the hood so the bite matched the bark. While he was on the phone with HKS ordering his coil overs he also ordered a suction racing intake, grounding kit, and turbo back exhaust complete with titanium tips.

All of this, including the Cobb access port and pro tune, was in preparation for the turbo XS external waste gate up pipe, Tial wastegate, Tomei EL headers, and Perrin front mount inter cooler that are all currently sitting in the shop waiting to be installed.

On the inside Kevin kept things fairly simple, he added a trio of defi gauges (boost, oil pressure, and oil temperature) to monitor the motors vitals along with a VSH heads up display.

Underneath the illuminated gauges he added an Alpine W205 double din deck which is the brain for his in car entertainment system made up of Pioneer amps, Morel components, and MTX sub woofer.

With another head turning version of his car complete Kevin is looking forward to spending the rest of his summer enjoying his latest creation, however there is really no telling whether or not this car will ever truly be because all of the same resources that where behind the last build are still available to him every day.

Guest Coverage: Slamology 2011

2

Reader Scott Simmons recently went to Slamology 2011 which took at the Marion County Farigrounds June 18th and 19th and sent in these photos.

Wow is pretty much all I can say about the level of trucks and cars that were at the show.

I am going to have to make a point to try and attend a large American show because the turn out of completely buried in the weeds mini trucks at these events never seems to disappoint.

Take a look at the pics Scott sent in below on this relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Scott’s full gallery of photos is here if you want too look for more photos or perhaps look for your own ride if you were in attendance.

Thanks for the photos and support Scott!

WTF Friday: Pontiac Trans Am Italia

7

About a month and a half ago I was spending a lot of time lurking the Kit Central forums digging up a little more info on an article my auto teacher took to Carlisle for his replica Diablo build. While I was there I came across this Trans Am Italia.

This kit made the Pontiac Trans Am look less like a Pontiac and more like a Testerossa. I’ve seen a few kits with this effect (widebody e30, Truxarossa) but never this one.  It looks pretty dated now but was probably a head turner in it’s day.

Someone on the Anand Tech forums was nice enough to scan the original brochure which is below:

Style of Ferrari all the handling of a GM... hey wait...
Long front end is long
Curious how much a set of rollers for this would have cost at the time, also this needs a drop desperately

This black one is the one that is (or was) being restored back to driving status. No complete pictures were ever shared unfortunately. Though I don’t blame the owner for not sharing them the forum didn’t really seem all that appreciative of the project.

Interior gutted for somewhat of an update
Interior a little farther along in the update
Is that... mold in the fins?
Engines got a few mods done to it
Close up of the rolling stock
I prefer this car in black over the yellow
Pea shooter exhaust is a little out of place
Last shot, do you think it would be possible to update one of these?

Full build and a couple more pics can be found here.

Site Updates

Not sure what happened but June seemed to leap frog by. Must be the combination of work, car shows, and BMX that have the summer escaping so quickly.

This weekend I will be at the Too Fast Custom Car Show on Sunday which takes place at the  Powerade Center in Brampton.  Spectators are free and competitors will get $5 off registration if you say you heard about it here. I will also be picking up my shirts at this event so it will be the first chance anyone has to get one.

Other things I am hoping to get a chance to get to next week are:

Readers Rides Part 5
The Midnight Marauder Series by Mike Branco
Guest Event coverage from Slamology in Indianapolis
Guest Event Coverage from XTS
Another Featured Ride

We will see just how many I managed to get posted next week. I might try and get a jump on posting one of them this weekend.

Flashback Friday

Going to take it back to the vintageLow Rider Theme Tuesday only because I will have a very similar Theme Tuesday this week based on a thread I found today looking for pictures of the Truxarossa.

Is painting like this a lost art?

Happy Canada Day!

Guest Coverage: Eurokracy 2011

11

About a month ago now Jesse from Air Society and myself began discussing collaboration ideas for both of our Canadian based stance sites. While we continue to work out some of the final details of our future plans he sent over some coverage from ‘Eurokracy’ taken by Fuel Riders.

Eurokracy was Air Society‘s first show and it brought out a number of quality cars from Vermont, Strasse, NY, as well as a few people from Toronto including Scraped Crusaders .

I don’t go out to Montreal often (every couple years) but with the amount of cool shows that seem to be taking place there I might have to brave the roads sooner rather than later. Enjoy a small sampling of the coverage provided by Air Society and Fuel Riders below.

Event Coverage: Niagara Truck & Tuner Expo Pt 2

12

Before I get into part two of the TNT Expo coverage I would once again like to thank and congratulate Nine-O-Five rides for putting on a great event. If there is one thing I remember most about putting on events (BMX) its that people don’t always say thanks or even show any sort of appreciation for the work you put in so again thanks guys see you next year!

Today’s coverage is 99% cars because I posted all of the trucks yesterday and it also includes a few of the vehicles that were in the limbo contest.

Random stuff

As I was walking around I came to the realization that when I started this blog I used to take a lot more pictures of random whatever at shows and of late I have kind of fallen off of that.

I am going to make more of an effort to going back and capturing some of the oddities (and while I am at it I should start taking model photos again).

Not sure you could mount all of these emergency items to your a pillar
Single I assume
Pretty sure this guy was the only one in his class
This wild 'Busa won best motorcycle

Car Limbo

This was the first car limbo I had seen in person (surprisingly) and it was pretty neat though the different a pillar angle of all of the cars kind of make the concept slightly flawed. However watching this all go down made me think of some different ways to measure lowered static and bagged vehicles for next year that I am going to run by the organizers.

I mean really as long as you get some scantily clad women to do the measuring no one is really going to mind right? Right.

A crowd gathered quickly for the limo which started minutes after I arrive, coincidence?
Like I said yesterday the roof line on Rangers didn't do it any favors in the limbo even though it was low
I think this was around 39" can't quite remember.
Carlos is actually the guy making the stanceiseverything.com t-shirts
The next two e36's were pretty low but the limbo didn't reflect this so that's when I thought of a ground clearance contest
This e36 was slammered

Domestic

As this show expands I can only see the domestic turnout getting larger, hopefully next year some low lows come through.

Normally not the type of vehicle I really post up here
But it had a pretty wild I.C.E. setup including very expensive rear firing Focal components
Last time I saw this stang it was closed up so I never saw all the pink airbrushing and accents
Erik finally brought his Probe out to a show this year and not his beater 😛
I'm sure it's always been there but this is the first time I noticed his trunk/hatch setup
He is on 9.5" wheels all around now, thanks for the love man!
I might be mistaken but I think this car was female owned? I know a Sunfire took an award and a female accepted so...
This car manages to lay out with little to no camber, that's fairly unique
Remote mount twin turbo Camaro that sounds god like, power specs top right

Euro

A lot of the euro cars were at the June Jitterbug which was taking place just around the corner.

I had intentions of going and checking that out but by the time I was done taking pictures and shooting the breeze with everyone that show was coming to a close and the trophy ceremony was starting.

I really liked both of these e36s, if the stance class was top 3 one of these would have been in it
I've got a real A3 thing going on lately, between this one, the EuroProjektz one and the other Red one kicking around the net I feel the need to have one
Last time I saw this car I didn't realize these were Equips as well just a different model
Spencer from So Fresh Automotive swung by after leaving Jitterbug

Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan

Someone needs to put a Sega Genesis in a Genesis then challenge Xzbit to a game of NBA Jam...
This shot shows Andrew's new front end better than the one I took at CSCS, doesn't do the paint justice though
Fairly done over FD that I don't think I have seen before as I would have remembered it
Sam rollin' out

Toyota

Daniels Matrix, one of the lowest ones around now since Matt has parted his silver one out
Tomas put a lot of work into this car over the past few months to get it ready for show season
I wonder if people ever ask him what that whine is when he is sitting at a light...
Zack recently put his Soarer on a ksport cup kit
Tuckin' pretty good now

Subaru

Travis and I were discussing the joys of flush setups and cars full of people
Clean and functional in so many ways, from what I hear the owner has another one too...
Been meaning to check out this car in person for awhile now, just as clean as I've been told
This car later passed me on the highway, I think he drove all the way from Quebec for the show
Trunk full to the brim with Kicker Audio

Honda/Acura

NSX’s out of no where at this show.

The car with the I <3 sluts sticker
Msequence was on hand to DJ, new wheels for his car soon, again...
Brad had also swapped out his wheels
Clean trunk and air management setup
Last time I saw this NSX was over a year about at Summer Sizzle 2
The NSX interior really doesn't look all that dated considering when it was designed
This color looks amazing under the sun, first NSX I have seen this color actually
Even though I liked the color of the one above this was my favorite of the trio

This is where my coverage ends but before I close this out I’d like to say what’s up to all of the readers I met on Sunday, thanks for the kind words and encouragement.
