Theme Thursdays: Ex Soviet/Russian rides

Once again I have Ollie to thank for submitting the content for this weeks Theme Tuesday. Normally I would add a few cars from my own collection to whatever he sends but this week I am on vacation so it's 100% Ollie's pics. I've posted a few Russian and Soviet cars before but I have not really looked into them too hard so this is a good switch up of the norm.

WTF Friday: Mixed Race

I can honestly say this isn't a swap I ever expected to come across. While I've seen a handful of Japanese power plants in American cars (and vice versa) I never expected to see one in a traditionally styled high boy roadster. However Solo from Go with Solo changed that with his blog post yesterday. He spotted this bright yellow American/Japanese union at the recent Nashville nationals and while incredibly unorthodox the motor actually seems right at home.

Event Coverage: CSCS round II: Part 2

Here's the follow up to yesterdays coverage including all of the track shots. The venue switch brought out a number of cars and one of the cars that had the biggest hype around it was the Nextmod/APH Evo which made it's debut on Sunday. On the drift side of track events the cars were run in the same challenging configuration as DMCC which made for a pretty eventful top 16. The speed people carried into the first turn varied quite a bit which made the tandems pretty interesting.

Event Coverage: CSCS 2011 Round II: Part 1

I'm not sure what kind of deal with the devil Chris and the organizers of CSCS made between last season and this in regards to weather but we are now two events deep in the CSCS calendar and the weather has been outstanding. Actually outstanding isn't an accurate description of the weather on Sunday, dehydrating might be better, or perhaps sun burn inducing, or maybe even heat stroke administering. You get the idea it was damn hot.

Theme Tuesdays: Waterfest 17 favorites

Waterfest was this weekend if you didn't now (I am sure most of you did) and while I have delusions of grandeur that one day I will have budget (and time) to travel to more events across the border it has yet to happen. So like I did for Wekfest 2011 I decided to live vicariously through other photographers and post my personal favorites of the photos I have seen so far from Waterfest 17.

Featured Ride: Matt’s 2001 S2000

It's interesting to consider whether or not Honda knew just how popular the s2000 would become when they released it in 1999. Since it's birth the the car has been modified 1000 times over with literally no end in sight. It's really remarkable what people are doing to these cars around the globe and right here in Toronto. Matt, a long time Honda enthusiast and show veteran, has been working on his s2000 ever since he sold his Civic and the current revision of this constantly changing project is simply stunning.

WTF: Friday What are the odds?

Quite some time ago (May) I facebook/tweeted a picture of a very interesting looking CRX I spotted one early morning in Toronto while dropping Lyndsey off for a run. The feedback on the car was pretty mixed but in person it was clean if nothing else, especially for it's vintage. Fast forward a couple months and reader/fan Artin found this CRX up for sale locally on Kijiji, pictures and a quick description from the seller is below:

Event Coverage: Street Classics July 9th 2011

After the Indy on Saturday my Steve and I swung by my place grilled some burgers, picked up our better halves, and rolled out to the Street Classics Cruise in at Canadian Tire #70. This was the first one of these events I had been to in 2011, and the first I had been to in quite some time where the forecast was great the entire day.

Introducing Luxury Abstract

It's always been true that the right accessories, especially wheels, make or break the over all look of a vehicle and now more than ever people are focusing on the quality of their wheels in addition to the look, diameter, width, and offset. This increased desire for a quality product has created a market that can sustain several made to order custom wheel manufacturers. The latest of this new breed of wheel manufacturer is Luxury Abstract who is poised to make a huge impact in luxury aftermarket accessories for 2011.

Theme Tuesdays: IS300/Altezzas Part II

The last time I did an IS300 Theme Tuesday was in 2010 so a follow up has been more than overdue. Thinking that these came out originally in 2000 and are now 12 years old makes me feel as though I missed 5 years of my life somehow.

WTF Friday: The Fly

In the movie The Fly a mad scientist enters a transporter and winds up crossing himself with a house fly becoming a grotesque monster that frightens little children. In Toronto a mad mechanic crossed a c5 Corvette with Eclipse tail lights, Foose wheels, and a lot of fibreglass to create a grotesque monster that confuses car enthusiasts world wide.

Low36

On one of my more recent Wrong Fitment Crew lurk sessions I spotted this green 97 328i owned by user low36. BBS wheels on an e36 isn't anything outside of the norm but when it's as cleanly executed as this my attention is peaked.

Is this real life?

Not sure how or where I came across this car, and I have not seen it anywhere since. Even typing a few search terms into Google didn't really return anything relevant (to this car at least). To make things more bleak I renamed the photos as I saved them so who knows what they were originally called. If I only had one photo saved I would have sworn it was a photo shop, but since there are three...

Event Coverage: 6th Annual Toronto H/T

The sixth annual Toronto Honda-tech meet went down yesterday and initially the weather looked as though we would all need scuba gear to attend but it all cleared up and when I showed up around three it ended up being so hot that other than a few puddles here and there late risers would have never known it rained.
