It’s been two years since the last time I attended Vagkraft and even though it poured during last years event I still kind of regret not going, so when the forecast for this year looked similar I decided to head out anyway.
Thankfully the collective will of hundreds of car enthusiasts kept mother nature from acting a fool and it was dry the entire time I was there. The local VAG community goes pretty hard so if you like European cars and have not attended one of these events you are missing out.
While I was shooting I considered breaking up the coverage by static and bagged but I figured if I miscalled one or two there would be hell to pay so I am just organizing the photos loosely by generation or team/club/shop/drinking buddy affiliation.
Beatles, MKI’s and Scirocco
I really don’t post enough of all of the above on this site.
One of the most universally known front ends periodThis car was concourse cleanBugsplat holding it down for Volksrods. My first time seeing this car in person, impressive fab workCertainly not for the faint of heart but I liked it personally, builds like this keep things interestingManaged to fire off this quick shot while the crowds parted around this carThis Scirocco's wheel setup was pretty interesting...Beauty lies withinI've seen pictures of this car online before but this was the first time I had seen it in personI was a little disappointed to realize I shot the same side twice when I got homeI did manage to get a better shot of the hood though
MKII and MKIII
Lacking a bit on these generations in my coverage…
Posted car up facebook and the reaction was mostly positiveWide RM's tucked up under even wider flaresI have not seen any Hookups merchandise since like... '01?This car was a treatIncredibly clean all aroundThis was peculiar, I wonder what the MTO says if anything at all..Murdered out look still goin strong
Scraped Crusaders
Almost all of the Scraped Crusaders made it out for Vagkraft, I think the only car I didn’t see was Pat’s Golf.
Gill was an Audi for the day I guess 😛Not sure if you can see the citation under the wiper but this car was deemed unfit for the road on the way to Vagkraft for being to low, that's GMr Sparkle!
Chopshop
Chopshop pulled a couple of all nighters to get the cars ready for Vagkraft which involved a couple of ups and downs but they seemed to be in good spirits regardless.
Drew's giant turbo e30 and a dialed s4Chopshop contributed to the wide amount of clean Audi's at VagkfraftSupport your local Chop ShopWow.
Air Assisted
Air Assisted in Markham had a few cars laid out on the ground in front of their booth. A couple you might recognize from past event coverage or by photos I’ve dropped on the fan page.
Overview of the entire AAC groupI had the privilege of shooting this car a few days before the event, those photos will be up soonI know some of you guys on facebook are more fans of tuckin' tire so here's some tuckI happened to be reading the build thread on this car on idub.ca the morning of... randomSomehow I neglected to read the part where he got these seatsDomo guarding Phil's trunk setup
Sic Ryde
Sic Ryde brought out a lot of Rydes
Sic managed to get the most non VAG cars into a VAG event lolFrom a distance I thought this was wood stain or something but it was actually cleared rust (I think)Never seen this Jetta roll with Sic before, one of the many people sporting Rotiforms at VagkraftSic's but a lot of work in on this Corrado over the summer, it's on air now and running wellOne day I'll take a picture of the mods list for this...Looks a lot better now that it's groundedMy favorite car of in Sic's Vagkraft lineup was this PorscheSimply classic
Part two should be up tomorrow after the normal Theme Tuesday post.
Cars like this are exactly the reason I couldn’t be like you guys. This 75 5 series has everything a purist would lust after, it’s mechanically sound, extremely clean and lacks the large North American safety mandated bumpers.
However had it stayed exactly like as the BMW factory intended chances are pretty good that I wouldn’t be dedicating an entire post to it.
The builder and I obviously think along the same lines because he felt the aforementioned characteristics made it perfect for a ‘cross breed’ motor swap blending German skin with an American mill.
Starting out with the business end, proper looking install of this 427The site I found this on says this is a Mercedes color, could have fooled me as it looks similar to Arctic BlueInterior has a few cues something's up but not too muchWonder where this gem ended up
This car was sold way back in 2008 on ebay for 22k so if you happen to see a older 5er cursing your hood that sounds a bit different than the rest you might want to ask the owner what’s under the hood.
Site Updates
So I commissioned the art department (my girlfriend) to design a new sticker for Importfest and contacted some people I know who are in the show for some color options as it’s a two tone. Once they arrive I will let you guys vote on which colors will make it to mass production.
Until then this is nothing but a teaser.
Events wise I think I’ll be passing through Vagkraft on Sunday depending on the weather. There’s supposed to be a trail jam same day so I might have to try and hit both…
Flashback Friday
Continuing the above thought I have not been to Vagkraft since 2009 so maybe I should go before hitting some jumps made of dirt.
I’ve been reading Stephen Knoops blog (simply titled Knoops Blog ) for awhile now and watching his s14 progress has been a real treat. He made a bunch of performance focused changes since his last season which included new springs and dampers, a new bumper bar, and less camber out back.
Once the mechanical amendments were more or less all squared away paint was sprayed and photos were taken. The end result is awesome on wheels.
Unrelated to this car but I have been following a thread on Fortune Auto coils for MZ3's... hearing good thingsPerhaps one of the meanest side profiles I have posted in awhileBehind the scenes of his most recent shoot, finals have yet to show upBam.The required 'yes he slides it' shot
I have been a member of the Maxbimmer forums since 2002 (god damn) and still check it fairly consistently so I like to think I have a good idea of the cars and builds on that forum and more so those I like and those that I don’t.
Recently the influx new cars of new cars slowed down considerably so I was quite surprised when seemingly out of nowhere the owner this 87 Carrera put up a few photos stating: I know its not eveyone’s taste but to each their own.
Huh? I can’t really think of too many people that wouldn’t like this car. Well deserving of the magazine feature he also mentions in the post.
Slim waist fat hipsThe staying power of Porsche designs is really somethingA work of art, not sure what is not to likeThe owner of the car doesn't own the house so you can be a little less jealous
From the perspective of someone who doesn’t live and breath Honda it the Preludes seems like the black sheep of the community when compared to Civics, CRXs, and even Accords. At shows and events there numbers are always fairly small.
I don’t think the Prelude is an unattractive car at all and with the right touch all generations can be done up tastefully. I think if Honda made them in a FR configuration more people would mess with them today instead of just plucking their motors and moving on.
Old's cool more so with K-1sPerhaps one of the most popular Preludes online currentlyLookin' like an axe murder lurking in the woodsWet n' BlackDoes Master P say much of anything anymore?Same car as above but previous wheel setupFound this in a for sale thread, so the dude in the pic may or may not still own itI pass a Prelude with this Greddy lip every day on my way to work but it looks nothing like thisNot every car can pull of the chrome RPF1s but this car does it wellSuper cleanAngles like these really make the Prelude seem like it should be a rwd sports coupeSimplicity at it's bestLM'sBig Mike.
Since I was young I’ve always had an interest in the Lowrider culture, and while it’s tough to say who exactly started this stance business I think it’s safe to assume that Lowrider guys are some of the true OGs.
When I found out this event was taking place minutes from my house deciding whether or not to attend was a no-brainer, especially because for the longest time my only exposure to cars like these was through television and music.
If you’ve never been to a Lowrider show and there is one near you be sure to pass through and take a look at the cars, with a lot of the builds the quality is through the roof.
Bikes
I wasn’t expecting to see any bikes at the show so I was pleasantly surprised by the ones I did see, all of them looked like awesome. I think this winter I might spend a bit more time on motorcycle blogs so I can do a better job of identifying what I see.
Once again wishing I knew a bit more about bikesThis marks the second time I have seen a woman on a custom bikeThere were crowd around this bike most of the daySo I bet your wondering what's going on up near the front tire?Well this is what was going on...
Non Lowriders
Most of the cars at the show were lowriders but there were a couple different cars out as well. Minitruck guys you let me down though, I thought a lot of you would come out 😛
If you asked me what to expect to see at PP3 a Skyline would have been at the bottom of my listI was honestly surprised that this was the only mini at the show, but I had not seen it before so it's all goodLivin' the lifeThis Donk was blasting tons of bass, but that's not what caught my eyeDonk's stretch? I had no ideaFitting this car was there being ae86 day after allThis car pulled up and a crowd gathered instantlyFrom what I overheard the grill shell and body are all 30s Ford and the rest is customIt's on air if you are curious

Big Dave’s Caddy
This car was all about the details. So much in fact that I spent so much time looking at the artwork all over (literally all over) this car that I didn’t take a single picture of it as a whole, something that has never happened before.
Luckily I was able to find a picture of the car on the Luxurious Montreal pageThe art on the rad support jumps out at you but check out the engraving on the motorEngraving continuesI wouldn't even know where to look to get this type of work doneIf prior to looking at this car you were not scared of clowns you might be afterEvil clown hidden under what looked to be miles of clearCan't sleep clown will eat me...
Hop Contest
Ever want to see a kids eyes light up? Take them to a lowrider hop contest.
Lyndsey and I met up with my friend Steve who brought his nephew along and to say he was excited to see the cars hop would have be a serious understatement.
It was disappointing to see this car break as it's always a good performer but it happensJoe getting his big Caddy in the airThis car was getting right up thereThe abuse these things have to withstand is crazy to think aboutMoney green Monte Carlo flexin'Customary three wheel on the way out
That’s it for Parkin’ Lot Pimpin 3, shout out to Alvaro Puro Cervantes for putting me onto this event. Keep checking the fan page for quick videos of the hop contest.
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted something questionable/’too each their own’ looking in a WTF Friday post so here is an… interesting truck I came across on s10 forum.
I’m fairly sure the owner of this truck would vomit at the cars I normally post here as it is quite obvious the thought patterns of he or she and myself when it comes to car modifications do not come anywhere close to matching up.
It’s not my place to tell someone how to modify their vehicle but I am curious how much it would cost to put tires all around on this beast. o_0
There is quite a bit going on here so be sure to get a good look and take it all inI'm curious if given to option which a cop would pull over a dumped car or a jacked tandem? Tandem would go free I bet.Did you expect any other sort of mudflaps?
Site Updates
I’ll be hitting up the True Playaz Lowrider BBQ here in Mississauga Saturday and I am really looking forward to it as its been awhile since I have been to a gathering of traditionally done up low lows.
Aside from that I’ve got a couple things in the works but one thing I have to get started on is some new sticker designs in time for Importfest.
I just called myself out on that though so maybe it will help?
Flashback Friday
Since I will probably be seeing some of the same cars from Scrape 2009 tomorrow here is a whip back to that coverage.
Hmmm three wheel Theme Tuesday one day?
I think maybe I’ll listen to some West Coast Hip Hop this weekend…
If you asked me this morning if I would type those words my answer would have been no but Dominic of Dominant Engineering, who is also the owner of the Ford Focus SVT I featured awhile back, sent me an email this afternoon that changed my tune.
In two days Dom took his girlfriends Versa from stock to this, including fixing the cracked and curbed wheels.
This was also his first air ride install… work f*ckin’ done.
David over at Import Bible has been on his grind and is currently in his fifth year of designing and producing shirts independently. To celebrate this respectable feat he has released his series 5 T shirts.
As a show of support and Canadian brotherly love David sent me a shirt, lanyard, and a couple stickers from his latest line. My wardrobe is mostly made up of BMX shirts and stuff from 80stees.com so getting some automotive apparel into the mix was long over due.
I received the ‘All Time‘ shirt which is a design inspired by 10 Deep (one of David’s favorite brands). The subject matter of the shirt obviously suits me pretty well as I clearly like my cars low and when it arrived I was immediately impressed with the quality of shirt, print, and design.
It’s something that can easily work it’s way into my everyday wear and not just something for automotive events.
The lanyard he sent along with the shirt is also pretty slick. Not only does it pay homage to some of histories greatest wheel designs it also conveniently does a good job of matching the color I picked for the center of my Equips.
I’ve got a couple of lanyards kicking around the house and this one is the best looking in my collection so far and the only one to have a nice quality clasp for the key ring.
You will definitely see this hanging out of my pocket at local events.
Dave and I have already been in early talks about collaboration for late 2011 which I am really looking forward to and he recently launched the IFEST clothing line which is the collaboration between him and the Import Fest brand.
Always good to see fellow Canadian enthusiasts doing big things!
If you want to check out Import Bibles latest designs head over to ImportBible.com.
Of all the oem wheel catalogs out there I think BMW probably has (or maybe had?) the best selection. A good number of their wheels look great and come in sizing that makes them versatile enough to make there way from one model BMW to another as well as cars outside of the BMW umbrella.
To this day M Parallels are one of my favorite wheels and style 5’s are legendary but I’ve obviously been sleeping on style 19s because this e36 I found on v2lab looks simply stunning.
The fact that BBS makes a lot of BMWs oem wheels doesn't hurt...Clean paint, clean, stance, clean fenders, winWheels tuck up super wellSimply one clean ass lookin' coupe
Spotted on the V2Lab Forums and blog, I think the owner is part of Royal Origin so what’s up to them also.
