Event Coverage: Importfest 2011 Pt: 2

Here's the second part of the 2011 Importfest coverage (well third if you include the women). Compared to last year the first thing I noticed when I showed up at Importfest this year was how incredibly busy it was. While this is obviously awesome it made getting clear photos a little harder than usual, but with some patience I was able to put in work. I tried my best not to re shoot too many of the same cars from the previous coverage so that those who didn't make the show could get an idea of the variety of cars IF brings out.

Event Coverage: Vagkraft 2011 Part: 2

Vagkraft was actually the first event I went to on Sunday and I had intentions of getting this second half of coverage up and out the door last night so I could get to editing and posting the photos from the second event. However I ended up getting sidetracked editing photos for the next featured ride and before I knew it the entire evening had evaporated.

Event Coverage: Vagkraft 2011 Part: 1

It's been two years since the last time I attended Vagkraft and even though it poured during last years event I still kind of regret not going, so when the forecast for this year looked similar I decided to head out anyway. Thankfully the collective will of hundreds of car enthusiasts kept mother nature from acting a fool and it was dry the entire time I was there. The local VAG community goes pretty hard so if you like European cars and have not attended one of these events you are missing out.

And suddenly out of nowhere

I have been a member of the Maxbimmer forums since 2002 (god damn) and still check it fairly consistently so I like to think I have a good idea of the cars and builds on that forum and more so those I like and those that I don't. Recently the influx new cars of new cars slowed down considerably so I was quite surprised when seemingly out of nowhere the owner this 87 Carrera put up a few photos stating: I know its not eveyone's taste but to each their own.

Theme Tuesdays: Waterfest 17 favorites

Waterfest was this weekend if you didn't now (I am sure most of you did) and while I have delusions of grandeur that one day I will have budget (and time) to travel to more events across the border it has yet to happen. So like I did for Wekfest 2011 I decided to live vicariously through other photographers and post my personal favorites of the photos I have seen so far from Waterfest 17.

Theme Tuesdays: Cars with mouths

I'll be honest with you guys, when I started this Theme Tuesday I didn't really think it would come together as well as it did as it is pretty random. However Google never lets me down and it turns out people have been putting World War II type graphics on cars of all sorts for some time. Add to that the popularity of Rusty and the movie cars and cartoon mouths and you have today's collection of photos.

Red paint, white letters

Red paint and white letters, I am a big fan of this look right now as probably gathered from last weeks Corrado. RWB cars are always visually incredible, and it's no secret they have the matte colored car game on lock but this one proves that the same aesthetic can look great with a little gloss. Pretty sure a periwinkle RAUH-Welt car would still look great...

Theme Tuesdays: Steelies

This one's all teamwork. Nash suggested it on facebook, I started working on it, and Ollie came through huge with the final touches. Steel wheels work on a variety of vehicles, are cheap, and fairly strong. I hear they are a bit on the heavy side however. The cheap, light, strong triangle strikes again.

Theme Tuesdays: Pictures With Attitude: 5

Last night I had envisioned doing a 'Favorites of Wekfest 2011' Theme Tuesday (since I was not there) but when I started looking for photos I was having a hell of a time finding ones that were not full of hoards of people. I noticed a few better photos popped up this morning but I generally don't like posting Theme Tuesdays after work so here are some more awesome automotive photos I felt needed to be shared.

Theme Tuesdays: P Cars

I am kind of in between pulling together a few more unique (read: completely random) Theme Tuesdays right now and some of the more par for the course ones I have which are in the later stages of completion are missing that last final 'it' car before I'm really to call them a wrap. So today I've decided to post up some of my Porsche photo collection. There is a decent variety of model and vintage in this post but one thing that ties them all together (other than the iconic Porsche badge) is that they all look fantastic.

How did I not know about this?

When it comes to motor swaps I'm not a purist in the slightest. I've said time, and time, again if a motor from another manufacturer is cheaper, faster, and more reliable than the one that came with your car and it's financially feasible to swap in then swap it in. That being said I had absolutely no idea people put small block Chevy motors in Porsche 911s.When I saw this '75 Porsche 911 with a Chevy small block in it on Night-Import I did a double take.

Theme Tuesdays: Women and Cars

One 'drawback' to compiling the Classy Car Model Theme Tuesdays is that I often end up coming across lots of photos of women with cars that are the standard fare, you know, the scantily clad woman with a nice car type of photo. All of the photos in today's post were chosen because of the car in the photo, the woman in the photo, or the photography, I'll leave it to you guys to speculate in the comments what was the determining factor in each. Sorry in advance ladies, also this one may be NSFW.
