Readers Rides

Guest Coverage: El Paso Solo Championship

My mindset is still somewhat performance driving oriented this morning after spending the day out on the track yesterday for the first time (more on that later this week) so I figured I would roll with it and post some photos from March 6th - 1st Solo Championship in El Paso Texas submitted by reader Aaron R. Jackson. What he sent through is just a small sampling of the cars that came out but nonetheless it shows that the auto cross community in Texas is not only thriving but also encompasses a variety of different cars.

      Featured Ride: Andre’s Impreza

One of the best parts about being a car enthusiasts in this internet age is that it's incredibly easy to connect with other scenes around the globe. With less than an hour and a few clicks you can see what's going on in Europe, North America, and Japan. This means that tuning styles are no longer regionally based. Andre, who is from Brazil, got hooked on clean, low, cars fast thanks to international forums like NASOIC and blogs like this one. Once the bug bit it wasn't long until Impreza was on sitting much closer to the earth.

      Cheap Fun

Cruising to a Halloween party on Friday night out of the corner of my eye I noticed a familiar looking Civic coming up in my side mirror, as he got closer I realized the car belonged to Erik Morrison of Nine-O-Five Rides. After trying, in vain, to communicate on the highway with the windows down we cruised together for a bit before I exited and he continued on. As he vanished into the night I remembered that he had some pictures and info on this Civic I had yet to post.

Readers rides: Facebook fans part 3

I've noticed quite a bit of user uploads to the Facebook fan page lately, in addition to new users in general, so I felt that a new readers rides post was in order. I always love seeing what you guys are up to as it gives me an idea of what kind of things I should post more and less of as well as gives me ideas for my own car.

Readers rides: Facebook fans part 2

Since I added the Facebook 'like' button to the post pages last night I figured today would be the perfect time to do another edition of 'Readers Rides' from the facebook fan page. The fan page has been really active lately so it you are not a fan already take a look as I often post things on there that don't make it here, and generally try and be just as interactive on there as I am here. Anyway, enough plugs, let's check out some of your rides.

Geby is doin the damn thing

Just the other day @gebyz hit me up with this picture on twitter. After taking a look at it I quickly remembered that I had actually posted a picture of his car before, an RX-7 as sick as this is not easy to forget. Geby, who hails from the same area of BC as the Drift Union guys, has done a great job putting together one serious looking and performing RX-7.

      Cali Double Bill

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of the caliber of cars California produces. I would guess that a good 80% of the cars I see from California I like, and, today’s two featured e36s are no different. Bryan’s ti and his friend Marc's coupe are perfect examples of my favorite type of automotive styling. Clean and slammed, with just enough of a personal touch to make them unique.

      Matt’s Low Matrix

Division R has been making a lot of moves here on Stance Is Everything lately and today brings another member from their crew, Matt, with his dumped Toyota Matrix. Spotting a well done Matrix in the GTA is on par with spotting a unicorn as a lot of them end up in the hands of people who either rice them out or wait for them to die as daily drivers. Thankfully Matt saved his from both fates and has put his 'trix to work skimming the top of speed bumps all over the GTA.

Mini Feature: Andrew’s Next Mod Genesis

Hyundai surprised a lot of people when they released the Genesis being a company with no prior sports car platform to speak of unless you make the stretch to include the Tiburon. In 2009 it was tough to say how the car would do in regards to initial sales and aftermarket acceptance/support, however about a year or so after initial release it's fairly safe to say that the Genesis has been well received.

      Slept On

With all of cars lately that have sticker covered body panels, roof racks full of whatever, rust, crazy paint and extreme amounts of stretch and poke I think sometimes people over look how great a car can look with clean paint, the right wheels and perfect stance. Julian's wagon has been one of my favorite Subaru's since the first time he sent me pictures of it, his show room clean paint, and dialed ride height allowed him to rock stock rims better than damn near anyone else and I now that he has retired his stock wheels in favor of Work 11R in 17x9 wheels his car has never looked better.

      IS300 V.I.P. Build update

Mr. Borges dropped me a line recently to let me know that his V.I.P. IS300 build is moving forward full steam ahead. If you remember last we left this build the car was looking pretty stock and he had a pile of parts sitting in his basement waiting to go on. Fast forward to today and we will find that most of the parts have made their way onto his ride. Let's take a look at what's been done.

      More from Division R

Shortly after I spotted this A3 at Summer Sizzle 2 the owner, Pedro, shot me an email with photos illustrating the transformation it's gone through since he has owned it. Much like his fellow Division R members Mike and Sam Pedro's car is clean and to the point. No outrageous paint jobs or body kits to be found in these ranks.
